I visited this bakery & ordered cappuccinos along with a variety of pastries for the family. Everything tasted great, & the quality of the pastries was impressive. The place was a bit crowded, but that's usually a good sign for a bakery.
The only thing that felt a bit odd was the interaction at the counter. The lady with glasses who took our order would reply in English when spoken to in French, & in French when spoken to in English. It wasn't a big issue, just a funny & slightly confusing moment. 😊
Overall, the food & coffee were excellent, & it's definitely worth stopping by!
Sweet Lee's is a cozy European-style café & bakery in Verdun that feels both welcoming & thoughtfully designed. The space is bright, recently renovated, & filled with natural light, with plenty of comfortable seating. It works well whether you're meeting a friend, taking a break during a walk on Wellington, or spending some quiet time with a laptop.
Their menu offers a nice variety of baked goods, fresh bread, sandwiches, & desserts. The pastries are well-made & consistently good, & the coffee is solid & enjoyable. It's the kind of place where you can actually taste the care put into the food rather than just admire it on Instagram.
The staff are generally friendly & helpful, though service can occasionally be a bit slow during busy hours. Prices are slightly on the higher side, but that's fairly standard for cafés in this area & feels reasonable given the quality & atmosphere.
Overall, Sweet Lee's is a charming neighborhood spot with good coffee, tasty pastries, & a calm, pleasant vibe. It's not trying to be flashy, & that's exactly why it works. A lovely place to stop, sit, & slow down for a while.
Excellent choice & delicious pastries that stand out from what is generally offered. On the other hand, it's more expensive than elsewhere & the service is epically slow! Without exception on each of my visits the service was ridiculously long that it was one person before me or more. You really need to plan according to the time you have.
Went there for a quick snack & the workers there barely greeted us. I had to try to say hi multiple times to grab her attention even though they clearly were not busy & just chatting away amongst themselves. Granted, it was at 6h30PM so they were maybe tired, but it didn't feel nice.
I bought two pastries that totalled 23$, which is pretty steep for what they are. I asked what one pastry was & she just answered'pistachio', & kept every answer to my questions as one word replies.
Anyhow, a very uninviting interaction, only to bite into a tasteless pastry that had water condensation from the fridge on it. My friend had the cheesecake & it was so thick you couldn't actually swallow a bite. I couldn't finish it. I would've been better off buying stuff at the store.
The place is cute to sit at though, I'll give them that.
I did not try the pastries, but they looked delicious, however I ordered an iced latte & each cost 9.3$?! I found that is VERY expensive. The latte itself was good but it is probably not worth the 9 bucks.
This place is not good. Don't fall for the trap of their window pastries-they look better than they taste. The only good thing about it is the ghost of the place it used to be. Order a London Fog or a Matcha Latte & you'll get coloured milk. They shouldn't call it Sweet Lee's, they should call it Stale Lee's
Great selection of coffee options as well as sweet & savoury pastries (including more filling menu items). There are lots of tables & the there's a good variety of comfortable seating options making this a great spot to set up for both short meet-ups & longer sit-ins. Outlets along most of the walls & nice lighting. I had the chocolate hazelnut croissant which was delicious. I definitely recommend this lovely spot.
I don't like the new look of the cafe & the menu is just confusing now because I don't know what I'm supposed to expect, high end French pastries or vegan cakes & cookies? Before, it had a rustic charm & the pastry counter was big & long, showing a variety of croissants & bread. This place used to be known for its croissants & cookies, now those are gone, partly because they reduced the counter space. Now, it's pretty clear they're following French baking micro trends like trompe l'oeils, flat croissants, New York croissants, etc. Also, for whatever reason, the baker is obsessed with making so many pistachio-flavoured cakes & pastries. Honestly, I just feel bad for the employees because they have barely any counter space to work on & one tiny oven for heating up sandwiches. They're basically on top of each other. What this place is missing is a menu board to put on the wall. It looks like the interior designer put all the furniture in for a fancy French cafe but forgot that you need pastry cases & worktops for the employees, especially a menu board to show prices. I bought a sandwich today & it was still cold in the middle after being in the oven. I watched another person make the same complaint. Lastly, I bought two tiny cakes to go but for some reason, they ran out of boxes & put it in a giant 12x12 box. That was annoying to carry home on the bus. Service could be better but it would help to actually design this place as a cafe & not what a movie set designer thinks it should be. The prices are a bit much too. At this point, you're better off going to Premier Moisson.
Super cute bakery. The first time I bought three or four pastries because its one of those shops that make it hard of pick just one. Second time, tried both a savoury crossant & a sweet stuffed croissant. Their savoury ham & cheese is crunchy & delicious, their pistachio cream was unfortunately pretty but a little too sweet for me. The chairs were wonderful to enjoy with friends or with a book, the decor is classy & inviting & very beige.
Best place to order healthy muffins & pastries. Always fresh......3 yrs later. This place totally changed & is even better. A little more French via NYC. Can't be this 90's indie playlist behind me right now.
Great café! Very busy but lots of seating & great service to table. Their shot is well pulled & smooth. Fresh beans. Very happy about it. I just had an espresso & americano but their other drinks look great. Did not try their sandwhich or pastries but looks good.
Used to be a huge fan of this place for years. It is no longer authentic or rustic. Pastries taste stale & are overpriced now. Selection is cut in half.
They have a great variety of pastries & sandwiches which are always a hit. I am also a big fan of their quiches, although they are quite pricey. The service really depends on the day, but it is mostly good. However, I used to really love this place, but as one of the previous comments mentioned, since the renovation the bakery no longer feels rustic & their prices have gone up significantly, even though it was not cheap before already. I used to go at least once a week, but since the renovation, I've only gone twice.
Great place for a girls hangout! Good coffee & pastries but wasn't a huge fan of the sandwich options personally.
Amazing vegan options! I have tried their sandwiches & pastries & truly love them. I would recommend for a casual bite but also for birthday cakes.
The pastries are mouthwatering & the employees are always helpful & kindhearted

Great selection of pastries. Weird looking Croissant aux Amands, but still very tasty!
