Before, it had a rustic charm & the pastry counter was big & long, showing a variety of croissants & bread. This place used to be known for its croissants & cookies, now those are gone, partly because they reduced the counter space. Now, it's pretty clear they're following French baking micro trends like trompe l'oeils, flat croissants, New York croissants, etc. Also, for whatever reason, the baker is obsessed with making so many pistachio-flavoured cakes & pastries. Honestly, I just feel bad for the employees because they have barely any counter space to work on & one tiny oven for heating up sandwiches. They're basically on top of each other. What this place is missing is a menu board to put on the wall. It looks like the interior designer put all the furniture in for a fancy French cafe but forgot that you need pastry cases & worktops for the employees, especially a menu board to show prices. I bought a sandwich today & it was still cold in the middle after being in the oven. I watched another person make the same complaint. Lastly, I bought two tiny cakes to go but for some reason, they ran out of boxes & put it in a giant 12x12 box. That was annoying to carry home on the bus. Service could be better but it would help to actually design this place as a cafe & not what a movie set designer thinks it should be. The prices are a bit much too. At this point, you're better off going to Premier Moisson.
What an amazing place. Love the atmosphere & Decor. Love the staff. I had the « BeneSweet » & it was an amazing display with a large Rockette salad, PLENTY of delicious fresh fruit. The Cafe Americano is excellent; just perfect. The caffe Latte is also excellent. Just one little thing: The savory scones were a little below par. a little too crumbly & the delicious stuffing was extremely sparse.
This is a beautiful café, but the service when I went was terrible, & the food was at best mediocre. There were only two people working on a busy Sunday afternoon, & it took about 15 minutes to put in an order at the counter. Coffee came with no spoon, there were no clean water glasses left, & the croissant was cold & rubbery- not so different from the six packs at IGA In the plastic containers. My friend's croissant sandwich was also cold. So yay for the decor, but if you can't get a croissant right in Montreal, don't serve them.
exquisite bakery/café super close to De l'Eglise metro station. met up with a friend for tea & tried the croissant fourée au pistache & it was simply divine. very friendly staff, excellent service & they even allowed my cat (who was in his carrier) to sit with us. 5-star establishment you MUST check out when in Montréal
I was disappointed when I went to Sweet Lees around 3-4pm today, the cafe wasn't too busy but there were many people trying to have a conversation & the music was being played so loudly it was unpleasant. It wasn't music you would typically hear in a café either. Rap/intense pop music being blasted. The food also took a while to arrive. I am not sure if it is commonplace, but I don't remember having this experience previously. I would definitely say that as a business catering to people studying/having lunch it would be smarter to have a more relaxing ambience.
Great café! Very busy but lots of seating & great service to table. Their shot is well pulled & smooth. Fresh beans. Very happy about it. I just had an espresso & americano but their other drinks look great. Did not try their sandwhich or pastries but looks good.
PERFECTION has a name...SWEET LEE'S! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was our favorite cafe in Montreal. Eclectic & warm interior. Grabbed a corner nook in the front. Perfect place for people watching & to catch the light but not be blinded by the sun for a nice brunch. Everything was delicious as is. No salt, pepper, or anything required which with the amount of varying tastes is a difficult task. Service was endearing, friendly & engaging. Recommended with enthusiasm.
Unfortunately, though I use to love this place, I don't think I'm gonna be coming back :-(. The food tasted so different, as if it'd been reheated, & the staff is super different- did they fire everyone & replace them or something? The service has been VERY different since they did their renovation. Also, the vibe is just way off in there- use to be a super cozy cafe, & now it's sterile with no music. A shame!! I use to love their food!
