I made a reservation for a group dinner with my friends on a weekday afternoon, & it turned out to be a great choice. We opted for the all-you-can-eat dinner menu, which was affordable-especially since drinks were already included. The atmosphere was really pleasant & relaxed, as it wasn't too crowded, making it perfect for catching up & enjoying each other's company. Overall, a smooth & enjoyable experience that I would definitely recommend for group gatherings.
One of the best eat all you can Korean BBQ in montreal. Variety of foods to choose from in an affordable price. I love the ice cream especially the red bean & green tea. Generous cut of beef steak. The calamari & octopus tail are great. There are just some missing on orders, & take some time to receive. Soup is serve in small bowl. But over all we love the place, surely we will visit again soon.

I know is a all you can eat but come on man look at that rainbow roll man 🤣how can you serve this is beyond me 🤣 the rest of the food wasn't great either went there cause gyubee was full never ever again wannabe kbbq 🤣
Ever since Seoul Chako closed, this spot has become my go-to for all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ in Montreal. The quality is consistently great, & the bonus is that they offer sushi as well, perfect for us because my husband is obsessed with sushi.
I also really appreciate how well-ventilated the dining area is. Indoor BBQ spots often struggle with smoke, but they've mastered the balance here. You can actually enjoy your meal without smelling like a grill afterward.
Highly recommend! this place never disappoints (I've been 5x with family & friends)
This review is long overdue !! Hats off to manager Jason & his crew !!!
Showing how true leaders should act when customers are wronged. My friend & I were once forced to pay in advance & asked to leave as the line was supposedly getting longer & it was not the case. Wel I called that night to let them know that as a decent customer I was deeply saddened that in my hundreds of times there I had been kicked out.
Not expecting much I asked Jason for some form of compensation if it was possible hoping I'd receive an extra half hour there next time, but I'd never expect Manager Jason to not only offer me a free meal, but rather roll the red carpet for me my sister & friend. The waitress apologized & it was very heartwarming to see that a bad experience had turned into one of my favourite memories at Sotas.
Your kindness & demonstration that customers at Sotas are treated as a family did not go unoticed. Everytime I tip there; I do so with Joy. My friends always eat there after a tough civil engineering exam because it s such a great place to hang out. You guys treated me with respect every time I show up & have migraines or go blind because of the bad lights (due to eye cancer not Sotas fault at all) you guys see to it that I be accommodated to the best of your abilities when there is space. I'm proud to say that since that incident your kind act wasn't just payed ten full. I chose Sotas to celebrate my 30th bday. Whenever there s a debate between going to a new restaurant for a second time or Sotas I chose Sotas to be a hang out spot when my engineering bros & sisters have time to hang & want to unwind. Is it expensive yes, but do they make it worth your while yes. It's one of the few restaurants where I get giddy to go & spend my hard earned money. I may not have been there as much now that I'm a graduate, but mark my words 2026 will see my return there!!
Again thank you Jadona nd your crew for making Sotas a place where all of my engineering friends can hang & trully feel happy after a tough exam or week of work!!! May you keep serving with passion & joy!!!!
& thank you for turning what I genuinely thought was the end of an era at Sotas into the renaissance of a new one.
This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. While eating at this all-you-can-eat BBQ restaurant, an elderly man with no uniform or any identification suddenly came to our table &, in a very rude & interrogative tone, kept asking,'You're done, right? Your grill is off, why don't you pay?' His attitude was extremely disrespectful.
In fact, we had not finished our meal. We had ordered more food that hadn't arrived yet, so we temporarily turned off the grill & planned to turn it back on once the food came. We were not over the time limit at all. Meanwhile, several nearby white customers had turned off their grills earlier & were eating ice cream, yet none of them were questioned. Why were we singled out? The unfairness was shocking & uncomfortable.
When I pressed him about who he was, he finally said he was the owner. I then asked why he ignored other tables whose situation was even more obvious but chose to confront only us. He stammered & said,'They are eating ice cream,' even though I still had food on my plate. Faced with my question, he went completely silent. He then said he was there to serve food, which clearly avoided addressing the issue.
I repeatedly asked him to leave our table because he was disturbing our meal. Only after several requests did he finally walk away. The entire experience was disrespectful, unfair, & left us feeling that we were being treated differently. I strongly suspect discrimination was involved. I would never return to this restaurant & cannot recommend it to anyone.

Overall, it was a good experience. The food is all-you-can-eat, with some dishes standing out more than others. The staff were friendly, though they could benefit from a bit more experience. The cleanliness & organization of the place could use improvement, especially when it comes to the bathrooms. One major issue: the ice cream station was located right next to the restrooms - definitely not ideal.
First thing first if you do not speak English do not go there no one speaks French.. even if French is mandatory in Montreal.
2 adults & a 3y/o
Do not go for lunch, waiting time gets out of control, they forget about you & they never look at you when you ask for something/ give you your order.
We get that we went there soon after opening time but still tell the clients 'we're having trouble with the kitchen/wtv'. We've been very patient & always stayed polite & kind with them.
Food is ok but not worth all the time we wasted. we waited for 50min to have the pork that we asked for (After being told that it was going to take'5more mins' many times). They'lost' many orders & we had to ask for them directly to the waiters (after waiting some more for nothing) which is not optimal & makes us feel like we are wasting their time. It took us almost 3hrs to eat when in normal times an hour & a half would have been enough.
Also they didn't pick up the empty plates, we had tall towers & even when one of them fell on the floor they picked up 1/2 of them & still let us with many empty plates. They would come next to our tables & never pick them up.
The young lady at the register was the nicest! She was the only one nice enough to look at us when we would speak to her & have real answers for all the questions!
Our experience at Sota BBQ was incredibly disappointing. We were a large group with a reservation, but when we arrived, they sent us to the basement & split us into three separate tables far apart from each other-not ideal for a birthday dinner. To make matters worse, the basement was unbearably hot, leaving everyone sweating like we were in a sauna.
We arrived at 9:30 PM, a full 1.5 hours before closing, but they rushed us to order everything immediately because they claimed the kitchen was closing. For a Korean BBQ, this completely ruins the experience since the whole point is to order gradually as you eat. Instead, we were forced to make a massive order upfront, which was hard to gauge. Naturally, we ended up with too much food, & they quickly informed us we'd have to pay for any leftovers. It honestly felt like a setup to overcharge customers.
On top of that, they didn't bring many of the items we ordered, brought too much of others, & the food quality was mediocre at best. The chicken was questionable-neither looking nor tasting like chicken-& the sushi was on par with gas station sushi. They also never replaced the grill, even when it was full of burnt scraps, which every other Korean BBQ we've been to does automatically.
To make matters worse, they automatically added tips to our bills, which was not only unexpected but also felt inappropriate given the poor service. I'm not even sure if this is legal, but it was definitely not appreciated.
It was absolutely not worth $57. For that price, you'd expect much better food, service, & an overall experience. Instead, it felt like a complete ripoff.
The quality when down. The food is below average. The tempura is not very good. The vegetables are still to raw to eat. The sushi depend on the type can be fishy. The service is not very attentive. When order something is always missing. You would need to call the server to get it. The meat could be better cuts. The price is okay for the experience & food.
Very fun place to eat with friends. The service was rapid & the food was good. It was a bit complicated at first to order with our phone but it's actually way better as you don't have to wait for someone to come to your table to order again & again. The only thing is that the tables are a bit small & so is the grill. We were 6 to eat & would probably have needed two tables but the restaurant was packed (because it is a great place & it was saturday). I will def come back.
We ate at this all you can eat at this restaurant. Food wasn't bad. Ice cream was tasty. The selection of sushi was good as well. I recommend that they clean the grill once in a while during our rounds. Some of the meats got stuck after grilling many meats
The food seemed low quality, the chicken tasted weird. The kitchen was simply sending way more items than what we ordered or way less items. After 30 min inside they told us to do one final order because the kitchen was closing (which is fine), so we did, they simply DID NOT send half of the items we asked for on that order & we had to pay when we were still eating so they just stopped sending us food after we payed which is just absurd because we ordered prior to that. The idea of all you can eat & drink is good but do better.
