Reviews of Shushuto Bar à Ramen + Tapas describe a stylish, welcoming spot offering generous portions of ramen, sushi, bao and other Japanese fusion dishes, with standout items like creamy cheese udon, duck mazemen and a strong cocktail program; the menu's variety including vegan options appeals to many, and the atmosphere is praised as chic, cozy and lively, though the space can be loud and service occasionally slow; overall the restaurant is regarded as a top pick for inventive Japanese fusion in town, with friendly staff, quality ingredients and well executed dishes, while some guests note expensive prices and a few inconsistent plates that aren't to everyone's taste.
Let me start off by saying our server Ben, was fantastic. He really made the experience by knowing the menu & being attentive.
The drinks here are delicious & worth the price.
The food on the other hand, left room for improvement. I got the miso ramen with chicken & my partner got Oyster Bao & Inari sushi. The chicken in my ramen was cooked & seasoned perfectly, but the rest of the ramen dish could have used more flavour. My partner said her Bao bun was a bit dry & the oyster mushroom was a bit over powering in flavor.
Will we come back, maybe, but if we did it would probably only be for a drink & the wonderful service of Ben.

Always a great time! Atmosphere, service, food & Drinks are on point. Louis was serving our table & making us laugh. He knows his drinks well & was able to make us lovely cocktails & he also treated us with welcoming shots, it was very pleasant & drinkable. I recommend to give this resto/bar a try. Never a dull moment. Thank you
Je suis très triste que le'sizzling cast-iron pan' n'est plus au menu brunch😭😭😭 Est-ce qu'il y a possibilité qu'on le remette au menu brunch ? C'était mon plat déjeuner préféré😭 My Heart is broken💔
Great location, vibe & service but the food really disappointed. The Karage chicken did not have that crispiness that all fried karage's i've eaten before, the noodles were mediocre & the beef sirloin was overcooked & had bones/cartilage.
I order take out from this restaurant & do really like the food.
I recently went to eat in restaurant though & the service was shockingly bad.
Our server (young tall male) started by immediately asking us after we sat down if we were ready to order & since obviously we weren't I asked for a couple minutes.
Probably 10-15 minutes went by before I had to flag him down to place our order.
He then didn't check on us once & I literally had to walk to the front of the restaurant to pay my bill. He was also really unfriendly the whole time & seemed like he didn't want to be there.
I feel like we just got unlucky with which waiter we received since the rest of the staff seemed helpful. I hope he quits & does something outside of the service industry.

Food is delicious but the AC wasn't working & they didn't even warn us or apologize.. it was too bad because it made the experience so much worse because it felt like a sauna in there…
Absolutely loved the food. We had all appetizers & shared. The staff were attentive, though we'd have preferred one wait staff as opposed to their rotating system. & it was incredibly loud for the size, but granted, it was hopping & everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Bravo Shoshuto !!!
The main dishes were amazing but the desserts were very bad. I suggest getting your desserts elsewhere. Specifically, the crème brûlée was overcooked (granular) & the sugar was burnt. The pancake was also overcooked & drenched in sauce (could no longer taste the pancake, only the sauce)
I tried this restaurant's food at the Yatai Montreal Japanese food festival & was really disappointed. After ordering just one order of beef skewers & one order of shrimp skewers (which cost a steep $33 total), I had to wait over 20 minutes to receive them. When the food finally arrived, the beef was so tough & chewy it was literally inedible-I had to spit it out. The shrimp was fine, but nothing special, especially for the price. After this experience, I have no interest in trying their actual restaurant. Definitely not worth the wait or the money.

Truly authentic Japanese ramen🍜 The broth is so exquisitely done! Delightful flavours all around. Impeccable service! Great vibe!
The bartender is so talented & skillful. Wide selections of nice cocktails & creative drinks🍸Highly recommend this fun & yummy place to all the food enthusiasts!
2🌟- correct
3🌟- bon
4🌟- très bon
5🌟- excellent
Food was awesome but the service was very slow. They took like 15min just to bring a bottle of wine. They also mixed all the bills & it took some time to fix them all. I'd definitely come back (the duck ramen is just awesome), but service should be improved.
