Tried Sato Izakaya & were super impressed with the attention to detail & tasty dishes. My husband's ramen was steaming hot, exactly the way ramen should be served. My seaweed salad was fresh & delicious. We also shared the Spider Roll, karaage & the shrimp gyoza, which were all excellent. The beer was ice cold & served in tall Sapporo glasses, super refreshing! Highly recommend this place for the great food, nice atmosphere & friendly service.
We stopped by here for lunch. Everything we had was tasty ! Service was prompt & professional. The decor was what you'd expect from an izakaya. If I were to make one recommendation the salmon oshi could have a bit more salmon on it. Would also be nice to have a few more sushi options on the menu.
Great Ramen & very tasty Takoyaki.
Excellent service.
Would definitely come back!
Overall a pleasent experience with staff, food was tasty.
If you go on your birthday you get a bowl of really good ice cream!
Don't go if you're looking for sushi though...!
Walked in without a reservation. The ramen was tasty but could use more complex toppings considering the 20$ price tag. It didn't come with nori & the chashu was barely warm. Our appetizers were pretty good though the takoyaki squid was tough or overcooked. It looked more like a nice sushi place than an izakaya. I think their others plates might be more in line wih their specialty.
Only issue was the chicken katsu / panko chicken, while very tender itself, did not have enough curry sauce & it was too lumpy/dry. had the right taste but it wasn't authentic in its texture or quantity of sauce. it was surprising that eating the chicken with the curry sauce left zero curry sauce for the rice, so clearly they really didnt put enough curry sauce.
also in japan they cut the chicken katsu, it so you can enjoy picking up the chicken with chopsticks & not have to use knife, fork & chopsticks, however they didnt cut the chicken so you're required to cut the chicken yourself then eat it with chopsticks.
I am being picky but its the small details that elevate your dishes to be worth the price.
most dishes were quite tasty though, just could be optimized further, which is generally the staple of Japanese cuisine.
chicken karaage was decent as well.
miso soup was nothing special.
brussel sprouts were decent but needed a sauce or something as they're a little dry by themselves.
drinks are somewhat pricy as well, hitting a few bucks over other places. service was great.
As soon as I walked in I loved the Japanese style decor! Made the vibe feel lively & cozy at the same time. The food is extra fresh, the cuts & quality of the fish is amazing & the way they fry & bread the katsu makes it super crunchy! Best katsu in Montreal hands down. The service is top notch & the staff are super friendly & outgoing! 10/10!!! Would come back again 🤩
P.S. The house sauce they use for the katsu is so tasty 👌
