Ive been going to Ruby Rouge for 20+ years but hadn't been in 3 years.
I went this past Saturday & was shocked & saddened .
1st the place is filthy! The tablecloths, seat covers, & carpet were beyond filthy with stains of all colors!!
Some seat covers were so filthy darkened by stains you go see it from several tables away!
If a restaurant doesnt care how filthy the areas are that their clients can see, what's happening in the areas you can't see.
2nd the taken from the carts was cold, & the selection was limited at 11:30 am dimsum, just 2 carts on the floor at a time.
Finally the service ....... the service has always been'special' so I know what to expect.
The waiter got into a loud fight with a elderly chinese couple about a tip, almost shoving the elderly man, & smashing the dishes loudly into the plastic bin.
When my guest asked the waiter if they had coffee the waiter laughed in her face , saying ,'coffee, what this isn't tim Hortons, walked away laughing.
When we asked for a spoonful more of mayonnaise for the fried shrimp dumplings, the waiter looked us up & down, & muttered something & walked away .
The rudest disrespectful behavior ive ever experienced.
Sadly Ruby Rouge is no longer what it use to be.
Went their for dim sum yesterday, & even thought the place is not packed, the service was extremely slow.. we waited almost an hour & we had : a tray of xiu mai, a tray of dumpling, a bowl of porc chop ( with almost nothing in it but bones & fat), & a dish of very cold shrimp. That's it. 4 dishes in 1 hour. We flagged down different waitresses to ask for service & for the ladies who push the food cart too but no one cared. The worst thing ? All of that costed us 31$ & when we said we don't want to give tips because of bad service, the lady at the cashier , not only did not care about our feedbacks , but kinda blame us for not calling the cart ladies enough . If there was a 0 star that would be my most accurate rating.
We were craving dim sum while in Montreal. This restaurant located on the 2nd floor inside a small mall. We were seated quickly & was asked what tea we wanted. Was nice to see push cart ordering here. We ordered five dishes to try. Overall the quality of the dim sum was average. We went on a Friday & it was not too busy so it could explain why some of the dim sum wasn't as fresh. The fried squid was cold & a bit rubbery. The har gow was decent.
We went for supper & there were parties that evening. We were seated outside the main area which wasn't a problem for us. The dishes were amazing with great'wok hey'! The problem was more when the party inside started & waiters for the not main area were scarce.
Ordered take out. They have an extensive amount of vegan dishes, including tofu, rice, noodle & faux meat dishes. The vegetable dumplings with peanut butter sauce is delicious. Cheap prices & delicious food.
