We arrived a bit earlier than our reservation time but they welcomed us right away & served us immediately. The restaurant was nice & cozy. The food came out quickly & was so fresh & delicious. I truly enjoyed my supper there & will definitely be going back more often, especially now that their new location is less than a 10 minute drive from my home! Can't wait to go back!!!
Nozy is a truly unique experience in Montreal & one of the rare places where you can eat genuinely authentic Japanese cuisine. In a city where real Japanese food is surprisingly hard to find, Nozy really stands apart.
I was a big fan of the original restaurant, & the new venue fully lives up to its reputation. The cooking feels confident & thoughtful, with a clear respect for Japanese culinary traditions. Nothing feels overdone or designed to impress for the sake of it. The focus is clearly on quality, technique, & balance.
The uni is outstanding, fresh & creamy with a clean, delicate flavor. The sashimi is beautifully cut & impeccably fresh, letting the fish speak for itself. The unagi is perfectly cooked, tender & rich, with just the right amount of glaze. The chirashi is another highlight, generous & well balanced, with every element placed with care.
What really makes Nozy special is the delicacy of the food. The flavors are subtle & precise, never heavy, & everything feels intentional. It is the kind of meal you slow down for & really appreciate.
If you care about Japanese cuisine & authenticity, Nozy is an absolute must in Montreal.
Excellent, authentic Japanese meal consisting mainly of fresh fish over rice & very tasty side dishes. Bonus points for offering amazing value & being unpretentious. Service was a bit forgetful but it's balanced out by the fact that dishes come out FAST.
A perfect date night out!! Everything is incredibly delicious & fresh! Can't stop thinking about it & can't wait to go back! our total came to 130 for two people & i think the price was absolutely reasonable considering the quality & freshness of what we ate! The service was quick & kind despite the restaurant being full! the omakase was so tasty, the way sushi was absolutely incredible & bluefish tuna was out of this world! the sesame ice cream was decadent & a perfect way to end the meal! we will definitely be back!!
Unpretentious Japanese eatery with fresh sashimi & typical bites (okonomyiaki, karage etc). The cocktais were very good, especially the Nigori-Yuzu Sour. Definitely recommend for a relaxed & delicious outing.
Very fresh & really filling. Excellent quality tuna. Could be better for some of the uni, that was more of a hit or miss type of situation. But overall, great value for the premiums cuts that you get. Don't get the entrees platter, they were all pretty mid & not really worth it. Come here just for their speciality which is the dons.
Great sushi restaurant with very fresh ingredients.
Ordered the chef's appetizer plate & the salmon/tuna don. The appetizer plate was delicious, providing a selection of very different tastes & textures that were all done properly. The karaage was well season & crispy, the pickled cucumbers & eggplant provided a slight fresh & umami flavor. The salmon hand rolls were well season & perfect intro into the main entree. This appetizer is easier to share among 2 people but would be more difficult with others.
The salmon & tuna don was quite delicious, with the perfect fat content on the salmon. Both fish were cut perfectly, & went well with wasabi & the rice. The rice was well seasoned as well.
Overall, very delicious option for quality sushi in Montreal. My only drawback would be the portion sizes as they tend to be on the smaller side.
We ordered 3 appetizers & 2 mains. The waitress brought everything at the same time. There wasn't much thought to customer experience or trying to give a good experience. When the waitress would bring out the dishes, she didn't explain what they were. She just placed them in front of us.
The sashimi was awful as it came on a bed of warm rice. You couldn't take the freshness of the fish.
The waitress was very inattentive as well. We ordered 3 appetizers & she brought out 4. When I asked her what the fourth thing was (as we didn't order it), she pushed back saying'I remember perfectly that you ordered this' & didn't brother telling us what it was.
Overall, we left feeling disappointed & won't be retuning.
Went there recently for the omakase & enjoyed it. Sea urchin, tataki, & sashimi so fresh! Not a fan of the oyster that day though. I wish there had been a few more pieces of sashimi/tataki/sushi, didn't drink all the 3 types of sake. COD in miso tastes just the right amount of sweetness & flaky & tenderness. Beef tenderloin is pretty delicious too, the wasabi adds a special taste. Never a fan of curry but loved the curry & the texture of rice is just so right. The mochi dessert is really amazing, orange wrapped in mochi & a thin layer of sweet beans paste, such a refreshing/juicy complexe of flavour & texture!! Omakase is a fixed menu & everybody get same dishes, but it would be nice if possible to change/switch a little bit according to preference.
The best japanese i've had in Montreal. Their specialties are those raw seafood. It's very fresh! However, the dessert is just okay.
Update:
Came back here after some time.
Back then this restaurant was really good. But now quality went down. For the price we paid, i felt like it wasn't worth it. I had higher expectation for the maguro salmon don, because it was my go to in the past. Didn't taste as fresh as I was expecting.
Moreover, it looks like now they switched from bluefin tuna to just red tuna likely due to cost.
Came here several times throughout the years & always liked their seafood options. I tried the omakase recently & it had a wide variety of fresh seafood such as uni, snow crab & scallops.
The service was quick & the server was friendly.
Went there for lunch, everything was very good & fresh & the atmosphere was very plesant 🤗
My sister & I recently dined here & thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The restaurant offers a quiet, dimly lit atmosphere that creates an intimate & sophisticated ambience perfect for an evening out.
We opted to share the'Chef's Choice' appetizer platter & the sashimi seafood platter. Every slice of fish was exceptionally fresh. Each appetizer showcased thoughtful preparation.
While the service was prompt & courteous, we would have appreciated if our waitress had taken the initiative to explain the various dishes as they arrived. Instead, we found ourselves having to ask for descriptions.
Despite this small drawback, our overall experience was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant for the exceptional quality of the food.
Perfect place to go if you are craving for an uni-don.
Went there for few time, never disappointed.
Everything tastes so delicious & their sashimi are always fresh!
Incorrect restaurant holiday hours. Everything else is great, we always love coming here. Fresh sashimi & excellent platters
Tried their omakase. The dishes were fresh & great portions as well especially the amberjack with ponzu was 10/10. Only down part I would say the lighting of the place would be more cozy maybe add little candle on the table & the bathroom too
Freshest seafood ever! The omakase was awesome, I'd highly recommend!
