I've been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile. I actually got introduced to this restaurant from looking at Chef Vincent Gee (Sushi Nishinokaze)'s posts, & I decided to give it a try because of this. Upon further research, I found that this restaurant was very highly ranked in Canada's 100 Best Restaurants!
Beba is a small, intimate restaurant in the heart of Verdun serving food & drink inspired by the Spanish & Italian cultures that settled in Argentina?. Argentine-born brothers Ari (former chef de cuisine, Liverpool House) & Pablo Schor (former barman at Vancouver's Bao Bei) share sophisticated versions of their Italian- & Spanish-inflected childhood favourites.
The menu for this restaurant changes every week, so I wasn't able to look on Instagram for any inspirations to help me order.
My buddy & I tried:
•empanada
•bone marrow pan con tomate, anchovy
•strozzapreti lamb ragu, fava beans, mint
•pork chop kohlrabi, pancetta, white wine
My favourite order here is the bone marrow. It's so delicious & fatty, & it goes so well with the sourness of the anchovy, taste of tomato, crisp of bread.
The empanada was delicious too. The strozzapreti was a bit too salty in my opinion, & not that special. The pork chop was prepared pretty well; despite being a thick cut of pork chop, the meat was all nice & tender.View more

Everything was just perfect. Amazing food & service.View more
1. Montadito - $28
Two slices of mackerel with a touch of salted butter for richness. The sesame-topped bread feels like a mini bagel. A mild spicy kick from the horseradish. Worth a try!
2. Tagliatelle - $33
Italian wide noodles served with tender guinea fowl ragu & Parmigiano Reggiano. Savory, rich, & a nice fusion of French & Italian flavors. Slightly on the salty side.
3. Macreuse de boeuf - $85
Lean yet tender flat iron steak, served with morels & potatoes. The charcutière sauce, with its mustardy, savory flavor, really hits the spot-especially for a Chinese palate. Are those bits of cured meat & pork jelly in the sauce? Feels like a chef's hidden masterpiece 🔍
4. Flan - $13
Classic caramel flan topped with whipped cream & dulce de leche (tastes a bit like Werther's candy). The caramel is noticeably bitter, & the texture is thick & dense. A single bite is super smooth. A bit too sweet for me personally, but I'd still recommend trying it!View more

Beba was the single best meal on our yearly Montreal trip. Service was perfect. Atmosphere was intimate & fun. Wine suggestions were on point. The non-alcoholic coktail had the complexity of a real cocktail. Most importantly, the food was perfect & just incredible. They perfectly accomodated my gluten free (celiac) patner. The flavors are familiar but done in a novel way. Portions are generous for a restaurant in this price tier. The single best thing that I ate on the entire trip was the montadito - basically a reimagined version of bagel & lox. It's probably the best bite of food I've had this year. I've been thinking of it ever since. I'd return just for that. I would caution that the gluten free version (sans bagel) with cucumber is not really a good substitute. Even some gluten free toast would have made it really good if not the exact same as the real deal. I kinda wish that places would have some gluten free bread frozen but on hand for these kinds of substitutes. Sometimes, you just need bread/toast for texture; even if it's the inferior gluten free kind. Boulangerie Le Marquis is doing some pretty awesome stuff so maybe that could be a good partnership. Anywho, Beba is added to my list of places I have to hit when in Montreal. Bravo.
Only bad part was a SUPER loud dude behind us who didn't shut up for 2 hours but what can you do...View more

As foodies who try a variety of different restaurants, Beba is our favourite of all time. My partner is Argentinian & loved every single dish we ordered, gladly pleased to recognize the flavours of his culture. Service is also incredibly welcoming, warm & authentic. We recommend this place to everyone we meet !View more
The food was fine, but not what I would expect from a top rated Michelin starred restaurant. Maybe it's good for the neighborhood, but not a destination. Also, expensive & flavors were ordinary, nothing exciting.View more
Perfect execution - tasty food that isn't pretentious. We loved every dish & every bite. Highly recommend!View more
