Had Beba on my list for long-time. Finally check them out during this trip to Montreal.

Overall food items are all great tasted; service is fast, smart & warm. Dessert are definitely lacking some specialty, desserts are definitely bring this overall experience lower than otherwise a peak diner.

Star of the show is Guinea Fowl: best fowl/chicken dish I have ever had. Balanced saucing; perfect crispy skins; great presentation.

Worst dish: Dates stuffed with Foie Gros, pistachio. This ended up being the last dish served prior to dessert. & honestly it might be a dessert itself with how sweet it is. Foie Gros does not make sense in this dish, any other creamy substance would work the same.

I ate at Beba a few weeks ago while visiting Montreal. I'd set an alert since reservations are hard to get, so we were thrilled when a 6:30 opened up the day of & rearranged our plans to get out to Verdun.
If I were only rating the kitchen, this is an easy five stars. The food is outstanding, the knish maybe a touch over-seasoned, but it's clear why this place has the reputation it does.
Where it fell short was the service, specifically the pacing. I eat at places like this a lot & I get how it works. Margins are thin, they need to turn tables. That's exactly why we showed up on time, ordered right away, didn't sit through a bunch of cocktails, & ate at a normal pace.
When we ordered, our server asked if that would be enough food. We said we thought so, we'd gotten several appetizers, two mains, wine, & knew dessert was coming. He said if we were still hungry later we could always add more. We were pleasantly surprised, since it's usually one & done at places like this.
Then, after our last course, before asking whether we were full or wanted anything, he set the menu down & said if we wanted more we could only order things that weren't fired. & stood there. I said no, we're good. He asked if we were having dessert. We said yes & ordered it, & the check arrived with it.
If we'd been overstaying, that would be fair. I've had servers handle it warmly: sorry, we have a table waiting, please enjoy dessert but we'll need it after. This wasn't that. The check just landed, & he stood over my husband, silently, until I said I supposed it was time to pay. As he left, I heard him tell the couple waiting for our table that he'd been watching us & we were on our last bites.
I get wanting to reassure the next table. I didn't appreciate being made the scapegoat. We did our part. If plates came out too slowly & the table needed turning, that's a floor problem, & there's a gracious way to handle it. This wasn't it.
I debated writing this, because I know how slim the margins are. But I was so excited to come here & walked out with a nearly thousand-dollar check & a sour experience. I wouldn't want that for anyone else.

The food was overall very good, & the service was generally quick & attentive. We were really enjoying our meal until we noticed that our rabbit stew was partially undercooked. There appeared to be blood on the bones, & one portion of the rabbit meat was clearly undercooked.

We mentioned this to a staff member who came by to wipe our table. He reassured us that someone would look into it. When our server returned, we explained the issue again, & she went to discuss it with the kitchen staff.

When she came back to our table, she did not apologize & seemed quite dismissive. She told us that the chef said it was normal to sometimes see blood on the bones. However, she did not address the undercooked portion of rabbit meat that my partner had left on his plate, nor did she appear interested in discussing the matter further.

We went on to order dessert, but we were disappointed by how the situation was handled. Given that it was a small restaurant with only a few tables, we did not choose to escalate the matter further & make other guests uncomfortable.

As a Michelin Guide-recommended restaurant, we had hoped for a higher standard of communication & customer care when an unexpected issue arose. While we enjoyed much of our meal, the response to our concern left us disappointed.

The stuffed dates were amazing. So much flavour in one bite, but still very well balanced. The seafood salad feature was a pleasant surprise too. The rabbit was cooked perfectly. The ragu tagliatelle was really good, although the pasta could have used a little more salt. Both desserts were delicious as well.

Came here on a Thursday night & was very happy we had made reservations because it got busy! The mackerel toasts definitely deserve the hype & were probably my favourite bite of the night. The service was excellent & we didn't feel rushed at all which was lovely since we were celebrating a birthday & wanted to eat almost everything on the menu. Leave room for dessert, the pistachio semifredo & the olive oil cake were amazing! Only two slight negatives regarding food was that the bread crumbs on the salad were a little rancid & the tuna was maybe a little too cured (almost like canned?). Will come back!

Just got back from Beba, where we had a wonderful meal.

We ordered a la carte, we enjoyed every dish, but our favorites were the fresh pasta with porcini & the guanciale cotto.

Flavours are bold, execution is spot on, & I found the cuisine to be very generous. I'm not referring to the portion size (it was perfectly adequate), but rather in their use of premium ingredients.

Pistachio? Tons of them. Morels? Here's a few handfuls. Great tuna? Covers half the plate. I've rarely seen such a generous use of quality premium ingredients. If an ingredient is mentioned on the menu, don't worry, you'll find it in your plate.

Also, the desserts. Wow. We had the flan & the pistachio semifreddo. Both were great, but the semifreddo was absolutely amazing, perfectly balanced & light.

On the negative, the wine list is a bit underwhelming (but cocktais are good), & I found the red wine to be served too warm, should have been served 3-4° colder.

Will definitely come back.

Quite easily the best meal I had during my stay in Montreal! Restaurant Beba was ranked the 7th best restaurant in Canada & the 50th best in North America in 2025 & for good reason. The service throughout the entire night was phenomenal-every worker was so friendly & knowledgeable about each dish. In a way, dining at Beba felt like eating in someone's home with the way we were treated so kindly & enthusiastically. Definitely make a reservation as the interior is very small; we had a lovely time at the bar.
Their menu is incredibly inventive, mainly taking inspiration from the Italian & Spanish culinary traditions established in Argentina. Most of their dishes rotate depending on seasonal ingredients, but they always have their signature starters. They recommended trying four to five dishes for two, which was the perfect amount of food. We started with a duck special for an appetizer. The slices of meat were insanely tender & went so well over the fresh cabbage & dressing. Next, we had the beef tongue, which they were able to slightly alter to accommodate for my tree nut allergy. Once again, the meat was so juicy & flavorful. We really enjoyed the blood sausage & rapini it came with as well. The brown butter sauce reminded us of movie theater popcorn in the best possible way. Our third dish was the pappardelle. It was cooked al dente with just the right amount of firmness & bite & tossed in the creamiest cheese sauce with duck ragu. The overall dish was meaty & hearty while not feeling too heavy or greasy. For the largest shared plate, we opted for the Guinea fowl. The skin was wonderfully crispy while the meat remained juicy & savory. The oyster mushrooms & sunchokes were great complements that cut through the meatiness, & every ingredient tasted magnificent when slathered in the herbaceous salsa verde. We finished our meal with the flan-one of the best I have ever had without a doubt. The custard base was so bouncy, rich, & creamy. It was topped with the most delicate whipped cream that wasn't overly sweet & the best dulce de leche I have tasted in my life. The thick caramel's nuttiness & richness made me speechless. I could eat hundreds of these flans without ever getting tired of the dessert.
Restaurant Beba delivered us a perfect experience. Each dish was brought to us at a good pace, allowing us to enjoy every bite with no rush. The amazing service, atmosphere, &, of course, food has guaranteed that I will return the next time I'm visiting Montreal. If you want a meal you will never forget, Beba is the place to go!

Very good food but pricey & tiny dishes. I miss the empanadas.
Wine choice can be improved, same for sparkling wine/champagne. Dessert wine is a must.
Awesome service!

I just loved everything about Beba. It's small & cozy, but the staff make you feel at home as soon as you walk in. We had seats at the bar, so we were right next to the bartender. Our cocktails were delicious, & the waiter's suggestions for wine were spot on. Didn't hesitate to make us try too. Eclectic menu that can get you out of your comfort zone, reminds me of Tripes & Caviar back in the day. We tried the homemade pasta with blonde liver sauce, & the lamb neck, we enjoyed them both. We also played it safe, the duck empanadas & the butternut squash are crowd pleasers & did not dissapoint. It's not a cheap night out, but we went all out, with dessert & digestif. We felt we had our money's worth. We'll definitely be back here.

'Life-changing' according to my husband! One of the best meals we've ever had, if not the best, EVER. Everything was amazing but standouts were the makeral toasts, the lamb ham special & the flan dessert. Unreal, will definitley be back.
