Review Summary

These reviews collectively describe Poutineville as a casual, family friendly spot with huge portions and good value, offering a wide range of poutine options that appeal to different tastes. The Montreal style poutine is frequently praised for its generous cheese and rich gravy, and many mention satisfying, filling meals with crisp fries. The atmosphere is repeatedly described as welcoming and relaxed, with fast, attentive service and staff noted for being friendly and helpful; some reviewers also appreciate extras like board games and other activities that make the place feel lively. Several customers say they would definitely return and would recommend to friends. A few critiques point to inconsistent experiences, such as poutine arriving lukewarm or cheese not fully melted, and a handful of takeout orders or menu items not meeting expectations. Overall, Poutineville is seen as a solid go-to for lovers of poutine seeking variety, affordability, and a convivial setting, driven by positive service and a friendly vibe.

Poutineville on Bishop is a great spot if you're craving comfort food with a twist. I went with one of their signature creations, & it was everything you want in a good poutine: crispy fries, rich gravy, & squeaky cheese curds, all loaded with generous toppings. Portions are very satisfying (come hungry!), & the staff were friendly & helpful with suggestions. The vibe is casual & relaxed-perfect for a late lunch or dinner after exploring downtown Montreal.

We found the Hangover poutine extremely salty & unfortunately couldn't continue eating after a few minutes in. The bbq wings were decent, crunchy batter with just a tad too much smoked flavor added. Great atmosphere with dark tavern vibes & even a bookcase of classic & modern boardgames & card games. Seems they treat students well too with discount promotions & they have a weekday happy hour discount 3-6pm. I wouldn't return tho because of the overwhelming saltiness in their poutine.

So coming from New England in the states, & as a family who loves a good poutine, we were very excited about our first poutine in Canada. We were pretty disappointed, however. The poutine was very mediocre. We tried the Traditional + bacon, & a General Tao, to try something different. It may have just been a bad choice because the bacon tasted funny, like microwaved leftover pork tastes. We didn't finish ours. The general Tao Was also just whatever. The curds were lacking a bit on flavor, like bland mozz. The gravy was decent, & the fries seemed decent as well, & those 2 are the primary ingredients. But certainly couldn't give this 4 stars even. Probably the funky tasting bacon that left the worst impression. We've been spoiled by places in the states that make excellent poutine. Such as the one at The Fix in Worcester Mass, which has a gravy that is infused with rosemary & black pepper, & Maplebrook Farm cheddar curds. My kids literally fight each other as they race through that one. Will try one more poutine somewhere in Montréal before we leave & hope for a better experience. The waitress was pleasant, & the vibe was very casual.
