Been here a bunch of times now, mostly late afternoon early or early evening during the week, I am sure it gets very busy later on Friday & Saturday nights. Always good friendly service with a solid & rotating selection of true Montreal/Quebec craft beers ranging from lagers, IPAs & darker beers. Interesting & tasty food too.
The atmosphere & service were spectacular. However, the food was not balanced in its flavours or textures. The Caesar salad was overdressed, kimchi was sour not spicy & the devilled eggs tasted of mayonnaise not eggs. Everything for my taste lacked salt & pepper but there was none on the table. I will give them that the sourdough was delicious. Excellent wine selection. I would come back for drinks but not dinner. I left disappointed, I love fermented food but I did not love this restaurant…
Nice selection of local beers on tap, at competitive prices. Good cocktails, never had a hard time finding a spot
Petit bar nice dans le quartier chinois, la sélection de vin était super & l'ambiance vraiment festive. Je reviendrai assurément durant l'été pour profiter de la terrasse dont je n'ai entendu que du positif ! :)
Came across this restaurant in Chinatown unexpectedly & it was a great surprise. Great food & beer & wine selection. Really nice vibe for an evening date, with friends, or even solo. Good vegan options as well.
This place has seating & a bar downstairs & also rooftop seating. I cannot comment on the rooftop as I did not wait for it. I got the beef & broccoli. The beef was super tender & the broccoli was cooked just right. Flavor was great. Nothing to complain about there. The bar had a fair selection but it wasn't everything I hoped for. (This was a recurring theme for the uppity restaurants in the area. Doesn't anyone carry more whisky selection here?) The staff was great & they seated me right away. They recognized that I did not speak french & explained that I could wait for the rooftop & sit at the bar. When there was space on the rooftop they kindly asked if I was interested & I declined. The inside seating was cool & dim. The music got a little louder as the night progressed. Maybe a touch too loud for me but I guess I'm getting old...
Great bar. Rooftop terrace. Well decorated bar. Great beer selection. Lovely food. & they poor the kölsh as tradition describes. You'll enjoy it
Probably the coolest & most laid-back rooftop bar in Montreal. They offer a nice selection of locally brewed draft beer, with friendly service, right in heart of Montreal's Chinatown. Unfortunately, I haven't try the food yet, but the German beer was delicious, so I'm sure to be back to select more of their menu. To be honest, the main attraction is the rooftop, so I wonder if Poincaré is as appealing in the winter when you'd be delegated indoors, on the floor below. In any case, Poincaré is lots of fun & worth a visit.
If you like pickled or fermented foods, Poincaré is the place for you! They have so many delicious foods to try. I particularly like the fermented fries. The tangyness perfectly balances the fried potatoes. Their wine selection is also very good. The Maher wines are very flavorful, & if you visit, you should give them a try!
Went there for dinner. Their wine selection was nice but their food was meh. The Charcuterie platter & the fermented vegetable platter looked like something a 20 year old would have served in their bachelor pad. We went & got sushi after leaving this place.
Abordable.
