Food -
I've tried both their pho filet mignon & pho dac biet, do yourself favor & upgrade to the filet mignon-worth it! The meat is much more tender, the broth is pretty standard, not bad but nothing groundbreaking either. Tastes a bit like fancy comfort food :D
Their vietnamese coffee is also quite run of the mill as well-not a bad thing, just an observation.
Service -
The workers there are all pleasant, friendly & attentive! I learned that the current ownership only started around 5 years ago. Can't speak to the quality of this place prior to that.
Atmosphere -
Long basement unit. Nothing outstanding, but not run down either :)
I had the grilled chicken pho. They load it up way more than the phos in Vancouver- all kinds of veggies, generous meat portion. The broth doesn't have the taste of star anise (though that might be a particularity of pho in my neighbourhood) but it was quite good. Easy does it with their chili oil- it is quite spicy!!
The filet mignon pho was good, the broth had flavour, however the grilled chicken broth lacked flavour. Overall good spot but a bit pricey for pho.
Best broth I've had in years. Decent value. Great music imo. 0 complaints.
What a gem! The filet mignon pho was incredible. Amazing broth! Had it with a delicious, fresh mango juice. Excellent service as well!
Bonus: Early 2000s RnB playlist was hitting. Will definitely be back soon as I can :)
Used to be my favorite spot while I was growing up. My parents would take us there every week untill I had my own kids & we moved out of the area.
Went back this week to have some pho, probably won't visit again.
The menu was very limited & most of my childhood items no longer exists (understandable) Ordered a largebowl.of dac biet for $17, what came to my table was a small bowl when compared to other pho spots around town. Broth was good but I left half full while paying full price.
I made a constructive criticism to the waiter & told him I wished a large bowl would be a normal large bowl not for a 5 year old's stomach. he told the boss in the back. All I heard from the kitchen was'he should of ordered an extra large' 🤦 if I knew they offered an extra large I would of but it's not on the menu. I would hate to see the price on an extra large when that tiny bowl costed me $17 before tax with one paper thin slice of meat of each kind (I ordered the dac biet) which is usually a classic item to indicate the skill & quality of the restaurant. If their signature bowl is that stingy everything else is not worth a 2nd visit for me. my wife wasn't too impressed with the portion & taste of her dishes either....
Their pho was delicious! &, their broth-to-noodles ration is impressive. Love that they don't shy away from giving lots of noodles. & our server was friendly & approachable.
This is hands down my favourite Pho restaurant! We get Pho from here very often! The broth is the best & we've also tried other dishes & they're very tasty too. Plus, the staff is always very nice :)
personally the worst vegetarian/vegan pho I have ever eaten. I hate to write negative reviews but hopefully it is taken as constructive criticism. There was at least an inch of oil in the broth, way too oily & it tasted fishy to me, not what you want to taste in a vegan soup. it also was cheap on the veggies & very heavy on the noodles. Also, i hope to see more vegan options on the menu in the future.
Great service & food. The Bun Bo Hue was very good: not too spicy, lots of fish sauce in the broth, big noodles. Iced coffee was also very good.
