Review Summary

Reviews describe Petit Opus Cafe-Bar as having mixed experiences: the eggs Benedict are tasty and the overall food and service can be good, with a friendly, professional waiter who can accommodate, but seating waits can be long and service can be slow, side potatoes may not be tasty, prices are on the higher side and not always matched by quality compared with nearby options, and breakfast experiences vary with some visits showing slower service and food that is below average for the area; it is convenient for hotel guests, but overall value compared with downtown Montreal options is questioned, and a morning visit noted noise from hallway maintenance that disrupted arrival, suggesting planning around such interruptions.

The Bagel & Saumon Fumé (Bagel & Smoked Salmon) is one of the best meals I've ever had - very similar to the Smoked Salmon Sandwich from the NCC Patterson Creek Park Bistro, in Ottawa (one of my other favourites). The combination of smoked salmon, cream cheese, & capers, has got to be one of humanity's greatest inventions. The portion size was generous, & Theodora was a kind & attentive server. She even went out of her way to get the recipe for the meal & write it down for me, & recommended where to get the best bagels to go with it. I'll happily come back here in the future, likely even when I'm not staying at the hotel.

A Cozy cafe in the Omni hotel, my husband & I enjoyed a Canadian favorite: poutine with a generous helping of cheese curds. My salmon with winter veggies was delicious & Matt liked his smoked meat sandwich. I finished my meal with the soft & pillowy chocolate fondant with fruit.

This was the least enjoyable 50$ dinner I've had in Montreal. The ambiance is OK but is completely open to the pass-way within the hotel (a boutique on the other side). The service was actually quite good. The food... I had a Brie fondant for a starter, which was basically walnuts on a pile of brown sugar. You could smell the cheese but all you chew on is sugar & nuts. The only vegetarian option they had was margarita pizza which would be competing with some of the frozen pizzas you get from a grocery store. They do have some remarkable artisan beers, at ~15$. Neither my first nor the second choice was there, but whatever was there, was still pretty good.
