When you enter, be ready to pay with cash only because they have an ATM inside & it takes a 5% fee from the money you get out so be prepared.
The place is really small & has this 80s dinner vibe to it that keeps it cozy. It takes a while to receive your order, however small or big it is.
The poutine with popcorn chicken & piri piri sauce was not as satisfying as I thought I read in the comments since they skimmed on the piri piri sauce. The fries were soggy, though the cheese, the chicken popcorn & the brown sauce were very good.
It is not worth the price because paying for a normal poutine with some popcorn chicken & a dab of piri piri sauce isn't worth 20$. It's better to go somewhere else, like to Laval to a place called Poulet Sevan where they have lots of chicken meals & you can get a poutine with chicken popcorn on top for less & worth every bite.
Absolutely incredible! Paolo & Suzanne served one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The poutine was phenomenal… crispy fries, rich gravy, & plenty of perfectly melted cheese curds. Every bite was comfort food perfection.
The cheeseburger was just as impressive: juicy, flavorful, cooked perfectly, & loaded with fresh toppings. You can tell they don't cut corners on quality. Everything arrived hot, fresh, & exactly how great fast food should be.
On top of that, the service was exceptional…friendly, fast, & welcoming. It's rare to find a place that consistently delivers both amazing food & great customer service, but Paolo & Suzanne absolutely nails it.
A true Montreal classic that lives up to the hype. If you're craving a great burger & poutine, look no further. I'll definitely be back for more!
I came for a quick bite & accidentally ordered a piece of Montreal history.
Two steamed all-dressed hot dogs, a classic poutine drowning in gravy & squeaky cheese curds, & a cold cola on the side. No reinvention, no fine dining tricks, just the kind of comfort food that has kept Montrealers coming back for over 45 years. 🌭🍟 #RestaurantPauloSuzanne #Montreal

This place has been my go-to spot every time I'm in town for years. The burgers are absolutely incredible, the poutines are always loaded & delicious, & their grilled cheese sandwiches hit the spot every single time. Been going there since the late 90's but It's actually tied to one of the biggest memories of my life; back in 2009, when my wife's water broke with our second son, we stopped here at midnight for a quick burger before rushing across the street to the hospital for the birth. That memory alone makes this place special to me, but the consistently amazing food is what keeps me coming back. I no longer live in Montreal but when I'm in town it's always a must. Reason it's not 5 stars is because it's a cash only restaurant. No debit & no credit which is super duper inconvenient & annoying. They do have an ATM but no one wants to put their debit card in a shady ATM machine nowadays. We're in 2026 guys! Get with the times.
We ordered takeout. We ordered La Philly Bomb poutine & a regular poutine & the Grilled Cheese Diablo. The grilled cheese was pretty good. However, the star was definitely the poutine. Both poutines that we ordered were excellent. The gravy was just right. Some gravies from different establishments are too salty, but this gravy hit the spot. We would definitely come back again.
?Underwhelming poutine & poor efficiency. It shouldn't take 40 minutes for a takeout order. Disappointing that'extra cheese' means a cold cup of curds on the side rather than actually being added to the dish.
Very good classic poutine & steamy Hotdogs. A classic quebec staple. The sauce was tasty, the fries where excellent & of course the squeaky cheese. I will definitely go back & try the specialty poutines. Don't forget to bring cash as they only except cash.
Huge portions & perfect poutine in the area ordered grilled chicken fajita poutine. Rich gravy & cheese curds but the amount of fries & meat was less. Overall a great experience
Been ordering here both in person & on uber eats for a long time. In the last while, I've been disappointed every time I order. First of all, very stingy with the ingredients. Every time I order a poutine, there is barely any cheese. I often go out of my way to PAY for extra cheese, & even then they hardly put anything. When paying 26$ for a poutine with extra cheese, I expect a lot of cheese. Potatoes & gravy are worth pennies, so if this place wants to cut corners by barely putting any cheese, they should at least lower the prices. In the last 5 orders I've placed, the bacon was forgotten in my burgers 3 times. This upset me every time. The last thing I want to mention is drinks & ubers. Why put cold drinks in the bag right on top of hot food? Every time I order, the cold drink is directly on top on the hot food, so by the time it's delivered to my door, the water bottle either makes my food get cold or becomes hot because of the food. I can't comprehend why they do this, what I do know is that it's ruined half of my orders. I'm not gonna act like I've never had good food here, there's a reason I re-order so frequently. I really do think there's a couple of things that need to be done better to ensure nothing but positive experiences for the customers. Hopefully this helps
Restaurant Paulo & Suzanne is a delightful eatery adorned with 1950s-inspired decor that exudes a distinct Québécois influence. The extensive menu & ingenious use of space provide a comprehensive dining experience worth indulging in. Upon entering, the warm & affable ambiance immediately takes hold. The proprietors' passion for their craft & patrons is palpable in the cozy establishment, where neighborhood close-knit relationships have been meticulously fostered over the course of four decades.
I had Le Colosse Burger, it features 100% Angus beef, savory cheese, tender Philly steak, spicy jalapenos, crispy pickles, fiery hot peppers, crunchy cool sour cream & chive chips on a soft brioche bun. To add to the indulgent experience, the burger is paired with their ingeniously crafted homemade southwestern sauce. This burger is not for the faint of heart, as it is quite substantial in size.
When one dives into the world of hamburgers, it's undeniable that the fundamental ingredients remain largely consistent across the board. Invariably, you'll encounter the main ingredients such as minced meat, onions, tomatoes, crisp lettuce, tangy pickles, &, of course, the all-important sauce. Many will proclaim that the true magic lies in the sauce, but I'd like to propose an alternative perspective - one that revolves around a different, yet equally vital element: LOVE. I could see that love in Paul's eyes & smile when it came to his food.
This love, this devotion, infuses the hamburger with an essence that transcends the sum of its parts. It's an invisible ingredient, an unspoken commitment to excellence, & a genuine desire to create something extraordinary. When you bite into a burger crafted with love, you're not just tasting food; you're experiencing the chef's dedication to their craft.
Paul meticulously grilled the meat to perfection, crafting a patty that's not just cooked but cared for with an artist's touch. Imagine the dedication it takes to finely chop the onions & tomatoes to achieve that ideal balance of flavors & textures. Think about the thoughtfulness behind choosing the freshest lettuce & the most delectable pickles to elevate the burger to a sublime level. & yes, even the sauce, prepared with a blend of secret ingredients, becomes a work of culinary art in the hands of a passionate chef like Paul.
As I relished the expertly cooked burger, my teeth crunched through the crispy-seared exterior, unleashing a savory explosion of flavor. This isn't your run-of-the-mill juice; it's a luscious elixir brimming with the essence of the meat. It's a marriage of the meat's inherent juices, meticulously elevated by the ingenious seasoning & cooking techniques.
The juiciness isn't just about moisture; it's also about the way it enhances the overall texture of the burger. It prevents the meat from being dry or overly chewy, ensuring that each bite is tender & easy to savor. The contrast between the succulent meat & the other components of the burger, like the crisp lettuce, the crunch of pickles, & the creaminess of the sauce, adds to the overall sensory experience. The next time you savor a burger that leaves you speechless, remember that it's not just about what's in it; it's about the heart & soul that went into its creation, truly making it a labor of love. @mtlrestorap
