Mahrouseh is truly a gem. From the moment you step inside, you are transported to another time & place. The oriental décor is absolutely mind-blowing-filled with beautiful antique pieces that instantly remind you of an old Damascene house, complete with a charming fountain in the middle. The atmosphere alone is worth the visit.
As for the desserts, the selection is outstanding. They offer a wide variety of traditional Arabic/Eastern desserts as well as Western options, all prepared with exceptional quality & care. The taste is simply amazing. I ordered Halawet El Jibn, a very traditional Syrian dessert made from semolina, cheese, blossom water, & syrup topped with crushed pistachios-& it was perfection. They also serve Kunafeh & many, many other delicious desserts that are hard to resist.
The staff are incredibly friendly & welcoming, which adds even more to the experience. I even asked why they don't open a new branch in BC, & the answer truly impressed me. They explained that maintaining the highest quality is their top priority, & they refuse to compromise by sending their chefs elsewhere-even though they receive requests to open branches in many major cities across the USA & Canada.
That level of dedication says everything. I'm very pleased to have visited Mahrouseh, & it's a place I would happily return to again & again. Highly recommended!
We have been customers of Mahrouse Pastry for over ten years & have always had an excellent experience. Their sweets, especially the baklavas, are always fresh, flavorful, & high quality. Each visit brings back many sweet memories for us & leaves us with a wonderful feeling. Truly one of the best Arabic pastry shops in the city.
A good place & has varieties of oriental sweets & Arabic ice cream, but what is striking is the old Syrian oriental decoration, which is beautiful & wonderful.
A Hidden Gem of Sweet Perfection - Pâtisserie Mahrouse
If you're looking for authentic Middle Eastern sweets made with love & tradition, **Pâtisserie Mahrouse** is an absolute must-visit. From the moment you walk in, you're welcomed by the inviting aroma of fresh pastries & the genuinely warm hospitality of the staff, who make you feel like family.
Their baklava is truly exceptional-delicately crisp layers, perfectly balanced sweetness, & a rich filling of pistachios or walnuts that melts in your mouth. You can tell everything is made with care & high-quality ingredients. The variety of traditional Arabic desserts they offer is impressive, from maamoul & nammoura to their signature knefeh, each one beautifully crafted & bursting with flavor.
Don't leave without trying their cardamom Arabic coffee- fragrant, smooth, & the perfect pairing with the sweetness of the pastries. It's served with a smile & a sense of tradition that adds to the entire experience.
Whether you're stopping in for a box of treats or sitting down to enjoy a dessert with coffee, Mahrouse delivers both quality & comfort. A true treasure for lovers of fine sweets & heartfelt service.
The Baklava & Arabic sweets are as good as they can get. This place rival some of the best in Syria or Lebanon. They don't stint & the use high quality ingredients.
Have never been disappointed by the food here. The place to go for Arabi sweets including arabic ice cream, kunafa, & halawat al jibn. Their savoury food is amazing too.
This shop has a delicious variety of desserts. Their pistachio Maamoul, Baklava, & Mabroumeh are the best. I would highly recommend it if you're looking for authentic Arabic desserts.
The pâtisserie is always crowded, which indicates the success of the management ( GM Mr Khaled RANKOUSI)& the professionnalisme of workers...the smell of orange blossom water fills the place. Awonderful & delicious selection of arabic sweets, ice cream,& cakes of different taste, flavors, & shapes. I tasted halawt eljbn, baklawa, mamoul, mabromeh & the famous Mahrousé Coffee. I advice everyone to visit it ,taste its products,& enjoy the wonderful atmosphère.

great place to get your Arabic sweets. Always greeted by professional staff.
Very nice patisserie well known for its quality arabic sweets! Has some tables inside & more outside on the terrace. It also sells some arabic tea sets. The only issue is it's located in a very traffic area. It has a small private parking that is often full on special occasions.
Stunning little Arabic café with with amazing pastries & delightful staff. Highly recommend!
One of the best places (if not the best!) in Montréal to eat Arabic sweets! Baklava, knafek ... you name it! You can tell it is the best, because this where all Arabs in Montréal go :) One amazing thing they also have that is not highlighted enough, is their great Turkish coffee! The place is so classy & elegant; it is the perfect place to meet friends in Montréal. The owners & staff are the friendliest, & they take customer service to new levels! Whenever I am traveling to Canada I make sure to transit in Montréal, & even if I only have a couple of hours layover, I rent a car & go bring Marousé baklava & knafek to my family ... that is the main thing they really miss from Montréal :) Highly highly recommend!
