About

Park masterfully blends traditional Japanese culinary techniques with vibrant South American influences to create a distinct gastronomic experience. The menu centers on meticulously sourced seafood, highlighting raw preparations such as sashimi and intricate sushi rolls that prioritize seasonal freshness above all else. Robust flavor profiles emerge through the thoughtful application of citrus, herbs, and unique seasonings that define the signature style of the kitchen. Sleek interior design elements foster a focused atmosphere where the complexity of the ingredients remains the primary attraction for patrons. Skilled practitioners execute precise knife work to ensure every plate maintains consistent quality and structural integrity. This establishment consistently delivers a refined approach to contemporary fusion cuisine by balancing classic textures with bold, inventive presentations that challenge standard perceptions of Japanese culinary traditions.

Review Summary

Park is frequently praised as a premier destination for high-quality, exceptionally fresh sushi and authentic Japanese fusion cuisine in Montreal. Many guests highlight the exquisite presentation of the dishes, the professional and attentive service provided by the staff, and the intimate, elegant atmosphere that makes it suitable for special occasions. While a significant portion of patrons consider the experience to be worth the premium cost due to the superior quality of ingredients and craft, some reviewers note inconsistencies regarding service speed, table proximity, and value for money compared to international fine dining standards. Occasional reports of disorganized reservation processes or lapses in service etiquette suggest that while the restaurant remains a top choice for many sushi enthusiasts, the overall experience can vary depending on the visit.

We had a wonderful, relaxed lunch here. The weather cooperated & the terrace was very, very nice, perfectly shaded. Our waiter was very knowledgeable both about the food & about the sake. I particular surprise with the oysters was a little oyster shell filled with very finally chopped kimchi, which worked just like horseradish, except it was much more delicious. The oysters were perfect. The mignonette sauce was very nicely, balanced, & had plenty of finely minced mild shallots. The roles were very nicely, plump & extremely flavorful. The sushi was simply perfect. I particularly liked the kimchi gyoza, (there were six on the plate, but I forgot to take a picture until I had eaten all but two.) Very highly recommend recommended!

WOW, I have had the privilege of tasting some great Sushi in my life including several of the greats in Japan. Park was BETTER! My guest is a true Sushi connoisseur, as a treat I told them to order whatever they wanted, no limits! It was simply spectacular. Each & every morsel. They even found a way to elevate Edemam. The freshet, highest caliber, best prepared by chef Park & his amazing team. Each & every server (i counted 6) were also impeccable with a shout out to our main server who was a cross between Freddy Mercury & Clark Gable (really). If you love Sushi & come to my hometown of Montreal Park is a MUST.

Disappointing experience.

The sushi tasted fishy, the nigiri rice was falling apart, & the maki had so much sauce that it overpowered the other flavors. The salad was also quite watery.

There were a few issues with presentation as well. My miso soup bowl had a dried piece of food stuck to the outside, some bowls were cracked, & my spoon was chipped.

One concern was that my friend informed the server of her mango allergy, but we were only told after the salad arrived that it contained mango.

Overall, it wasn't the experience I was expecting given the restaurant's reputation.

Park is a great neighborhood spot we keep coming back to whenever we're craving sushi. The service is consistently excellent, they really go above & beyond for the customers, & the nigiri is always fresh & well prepared. The lunch sets are also a solid option. We love coming here.

Went for a light lunch; bibimbap.

The flavour was good & the choices of ingredients was nice. But although the bibimbap comes in a hot stone bowl, it was too saucy to create the fried rice bottom one might expect from the experience. This was different but not necessarily unpleasant.

My low rating comes from the beef (which was a 19$ extra charge per plate). It was nearly inedible by being impossible to chew, & made the sit-down meal a bit embarrassing because I couldn't maintain a conversation for minutes at a time.

The waiters also came by to ask if I was done with the plate much too often even though I was clearly not even half done (from the time it took to chew the beef).

We also tried the Park sushi. This was fresh & tasty.

However, the beef of the bibimbap was such an insult to me in terms of chewiness that I cannot recommend this place to anyone who actually wants to enjoy their meal & not just brag about it on Instagram.

I'm quite let down by what was supposed to be one of the better restaurants around.

Your fish can be fresher, colder & firmer. The blackened sea urchin was unacceptable to bring on to the table.

The bill came to over $600 for two. I refuse to imagine what that can do in Tokyo, or Vancouver, or even New York. & pathetically there's not much better sushi choice in town.

We were very disappointed with our experience. Despite having reserved a table in the dining area, we were seated at the counter upon arrival. It was Valentine's Day & we were hoping for a more elevated, romantic sushi experience.
When we explained this to our server, they suggested we try the omakase (menu dégustation) rather than the chef's selection, which we had originally been drawn to. Since it was our first time, the server subtly convinced us that the omakase would be the better experience, saying that it would allow us to try a wide variety of things. Naturally, we assumed that meant a generous variety of sushi. We trusted their recommendation & went with it.
What we didn't realize until the bill arrived was that the omakase was significantly more expensive than the chef's selection. & nowhere during that conversation were we clearly informed of the price difference. We felt misled.
Once the dishes started arriving, it was anything but sushi. I understand that some people appreciate a more elaborate & experimental tasting menu, but we came specifically for sushi & instead received five plates of various fish, beef, & sauces, followed by just 8 pieces of nigiri at the very end. Deeply disappointing.
The bill came to $487 before tip, far more than we anticipated. We were never given a clear heads-up about the final cost, which left us feeling blindsided. Oh & the omakase price wasn't on the menu card..
