Review Summary

Park is described as modern yet intimate, with soft lighting and elegant furnishings that suit both casual dinners and special occasions. The food is consistently praised for freshness and quality, with sushi, sashimi, and omakase singled out as standout and premium platters noted for their presentation and variety. The open kitchen and sushi bar let guests watch technique unfold, adding to the immersive dining experience. Service is frequently lauded as attentive and knowledgeable, though a few reviews report slow pacing, timing issues for large groups, and mismatches between expectations and reality in some visits. Pricing is consistently noted as on the higher side, reflecting the high quality but leaving some diners feeling value varies by experience and dish. Ambiance, design, and location receive praise, while some reviewers mention noise, cramped seating, and occasional inconsistencies that can affect the overall impression. Overall Park stands out in Montreal as a top destination for Japanese Korean fusion, celebrated for its expertise and dramatic, memorable meals, with many guests eager to return for celebrations or special occasions, even as a minority recounts disappointing moments that tempered their enthusiasm.

Exquisite tasting menu in a beautiful space with an excellent sake, wine, & cocktail menu. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about all of the sake on their menu & was able to recommend one that matched perfectly with our palette. Each dish was beautifully prepared & thoughtfully paired with interesting ingredients. All of the fish was incredibly fresh & the service was impeccable.

I've been to Park many times over the years, but after last night's birthday dinner, I won't be returning. The experience was disappointing from start to finish. I had a crappy birthday. Kind've turned me off of fine dining in general.

First, the reservation process:

Because we were a party of ten, I wasn't allowed to book by phone. Instead, I had to email someone, wait for a reply, then fill out a clunky, poorly formatted form that I had to print & write on by hand, scan, & send back. This is absurd in 2025-especially for a restaurant of this calibre.

Then, the'private room':

I was told we'd have a private room, which sounded promising. Instead, we were seated in Café Bazin, the restaurant's next-door café. Not a Japanese dining room. A French café, with loaves of bread sitting out on the counter that my party members had to stare at while we ate; not the atmosphere one is looking for when they book upscale Japanese restaurant-it felt absurd, improvised. & the room's humidity made us feel like were eating in a greenhouse. The table was sticky. The lights also flickered every 40 minutes, & the temperature was easily above 22.5°C. So much for atmosphere.

Then, the maitre d':

The maitre d' seemed disengaged & inattentive, did not greet us with grace or even eye contact, & guideda my mother to the next door'private dining room' through tightly packed tables instead of using the wider main path.

He also inconsistently directed my guests-some were told to go through the café entrance from outside, others were led through the restaurant. It felt disorganized, thoughtless.

Then, the service:

Our waitress, to her credit, was kind & professional. But the food pacing was outrageous. We were all seated at 6:30 p.m., & the first course didn't arrive until 7:44 p.m., even though she assured me food would come out quickly given everything was pre-set. Despite being a pre-set menu, the kitchen somehow delivered a three-hour meal where each course was minuscule & fussy, with dishes that leaned more French than Japanese (small, saucy, hardly Japanese-y). Most dishes were tepid, dry, or rubbery-clearly pre-prepared & left under heat lamps. Cringe.

The only sushi we received came as the final course: a modest 6 to 8 pieces per person. For a party meal at a Japanese restaurant, it was the only thing that felt even remotely appropriate. A large Omakase sushi platter for the whole party to share would've been far more satisfying. Sadly, even those small plates weren't enough to salvage the experience because they too were not particularly fresh.

Conclusion:

Park used to be great. I remember its early days, when the sushi was exceptional & the fish was clearly fresh. Those days are gone. The quality has slipped, the service feels indifferent, & the prices are no longer justified. It now coasts on its Westmount location & local reputation. I won't be back.

I did not appreciate my experience at this restaurant. I was fully willing to pay a high price for what seemed to be an excellent Japanese restaurant, but the whole experience was a letdown on several levels.

First, the $155 sushi platter was ridiculously expensive for what I got, in terms of both quantity & taste. Everything was fresh & beautifully presented, but the taste was far from memorable. I had much better sushi at a fraction of that price.

We were a party of three male colleagues on a business dinner. I was sitting next to one of them, & although we expressed no desire to share, & were clearly not a couple, they decided to combine our plates. Since I had requested the removal of a certain ingredient, my colleague's order, which was combined with mine, also had that ingredient removed, although he wanted it in his order. This was awkward & very bad etiquette.

Service was extremely slow.

When I called to make a reservation, I was speaking French & the attendant did not make any attempt to speak a word of French. I speak perfect English, but I thought this was pretty classless.

Lastly, I did not like the atmosphere. The dining room is rather cramped, too noisy, & is decorated like some kind of glitzy hotel lobby, very cold & pretentious.

Certainly not returning.

We finally had the fantastic opportunity to have lunch at Park! We sat at the sushi bar & it was fascinating to watch the concentration & attention to detail they put into every step of preparing & serving such delicious & beautiful dishes. We ordered the sushi platter for two, along with cocktails & dessert, & everything was fresh & exquisite. Despite the orchestration, everyone was friendly, smiling & chatting with us a little. Chef Antonio, Chef Shinji, & the rest of the staff treated us so well that we almost stayed for dinner service-Literally!

Food was delicious, for the onigiri, the fish is so fresh & it melts in your mouth. The desserts were amazing as well. Service is good & the server was nice. They explained the meals at each service. If you are at the counter, you can see the open kitch & the chefs preparing the food. Location seemed a bit off for this type of upscale restaurant. The toilets are upstairs, tucked in a weird area & you have to pass by the back kitch. We reserved well in advance for 2 persons, & were seating 20cm away from the other table, which was not intimate at all. For this kind of restaurant, I would appreciate for space between the tables for a better overall experience.

We had dinner here for my birthday & the whole experience was incredible start to finish. They have amazing staff that very obviously work together well & are happy to be there. We got the premium platter for two & it was more than enough -- we were stuffed & it was so fresh, such high quality food & drinks, I could not have had a better meal.

Park is an absolute MUST-TRY. Amongst the great dining options in Montreal, Park is a stand out for the Japanese/Korean cuisine. The restaurant is decorated in a modern & upscale manner. Simple wood finishes & lovely marble cuts accentuate the open kitchen & sushi bar.

The food is unbelievable. We started with the wagyu sando & the first bite was out of this world. Topped with caviar & gold flakes, the minced wagyu had the perfect texture & you wanted to immortalize that bite in time. We split the regular & the premium sushi platters. Both are fantastic. The premium comes with caviar, uni & toro. Both platters come with a medley of sauces - the house soya sauce, a ponzu sauce, chimichurri & a carrot-based sauce. The fish is so fresh; we were exclaiming over each & every bite. Just an unbelievable platter of seafood. To top it off, we finished with the tout chocolate. The chocolate mousse is so light but the dish is bigger than it looks in photos. We practically had to roll out of the restaurant.

Also, shoutout to the host. He was top notch. Jovial, informative, had jokes to keep it light. Great banter.

Park is for the memory books. We'll be coming back to Montreal just to go another time.

My husband & I came here to celebrate his birthday & loved the whole experience. We had the sushi platter & the premium sushi platter plus cockatils & digestives. Everything was divine from the ambiance, service, the food & the drinks. The fish & seafood were very fresh & it literally took us back to Japan!

Been here a couple of times. Very pricey but quality of ingredients are excellent. Sashimi is excellent & fresh. Maki rolls are good but too much sauce. I like to taste the ingredients. Nigiri was good but portions were tiny. Service was very good & informed. Overall a very good meal but not worth the price. There are other Japanese restaurants that are very good that will satisfy your sushi craving but at a better price point.

Been coming here for a while, simply because I have no time for groceries, the food here is unique. I especially enjoyed the premium platter sushi. A variety of selection of different sashimi & maki sushi. The ones that stood out would be the Otoro, which is a very fatty fish that you can not get anywhere from all you can eat sushi( if you find there are, let me know). The presentation is beautiful. I also especially find the sea urchin to be very interesting. Not many people will like it but I do. The workers are well informed on what we are eating. & maybe not everyone but I especially feel welcomed by the staff, including the owner, Antonio Park, very busy man but always checks up on me. & Ms. Jodie, always informative & very kind. Atmosphere, is in a dim light setting, definitely a bar like feeling( it has a drinks bar & a sushi bar). My favourite dessert would be omakase dessert, strawberry based, I loved the different layers it has, strawberry sorbet at the top with creaminess surround it, with a biscuit cracker that separates it from the fresh strawberry & purée at the bottom.

This was fantastic. However, it was not a cheap experience. The fish was so fresh, & the octopus was very tender. The servers were friendly & accommodating. At one point, I went to pour a bit more wine for us, & the server came over & said. " Allow me, I'll do my job, you enjoy your meal."it was said very playful & felt attended to. There was a nice variety of fish & seafood to be enjoyed. Best sushi 🍣 I have ever had. The only negative other than the price, it was so crowed the place is. The table next to us was so close that I felt like I was having dinner with them aswel. The staff having to walk sideways between tables puts them too close to me. Overall, it was a nice night with great food.I Ps I thought putting the Louis the 13th on the dessert menu was tacky. ($175/ .5 OZ) If I wanted liquor that expensive, I would order it off the drink menu.

The best quality sushi I've had in a while. Eat bite was fresh & full of flavor. For quality sushi places, less is more - go sashimi & nigiri. Maki roll was good but we wished to have gotten another nigiri round instead. The strawberry dessert special right now is probably top 3 favorite desserts I have ever had

So "Somebody feed Phil" introduced us to this restaurant & Chef Antonio Park. You read about the guy, & you just admire the man. My wife booked the lunch for us & the restaurant is in a very nice neighbourhood of Westmount in Montreal. We were greeted by a lovely host (I think her name was Faye) originally from Dorset, Uk; who welcomed us like old friends. (She also greeted a lot of regulars that came in after us - so she is definitely skilled at her role!) She recommended us to actually go for the Park specials, but double up on the nigiris, so we get the variety. Good call! Some people don't get the fuss about sushi. The skill is not just fresh fish, the knife skills, or the right marinated rice, the temperature, the presentation, but the whole ensemble. Chef Park also introduced the idea of his Argentinian flavours in the dips & the fusion tastes of the west & the Japanese in some sauces that were brushed on the nigiri. The presentation is immaculate & it is an experience to have some top rated sushi. We were very lucky to find him at the restaurant on our visit. He was happy to have a chat. If you are a sushi lover in Montreal, you definitely should try it out.

Visited for a special birthday celebration - innovative sushi with a twist & creative dipping sauces. The sashimi & oysters were fresh & full of flavour. We shared the Premium sushi platter & doubled up the nigiri. At this price point we expected the best & were not disappointed.

We ordered the premium sushi platter, the sashimi were so fresh & reminded us of the sashimi we had in Japan! The sushi were also tasty & fresh! The wagyu sando was made with Wagyu ground beef, it was very smooth & tender but lack of that umami flavour. Anyway, it was still enjoyable! The service was good but not excellent, the attentiveness to be improved. Overall, it was a very good dining experience!
