Been wanting to come here for a while & it did not disappoint. It is the perfect place to grab a quick lunch & study while you're at it. However it is a bit noisy so i would not recommend studying here if you get distracted easily.
The food & drinks were amazing! I like their hojicha latte & the curry rice the most but all their other options are amazing as well.
Le katsu curry est vraiment bon & croustillant, coup de ❤?pour le hojicha latte ! Bcp de monde le wk mais quand même super agréable
Lovedddd the coffee & this delicious vegan curry bowl! For a place with only one vegan option, it's truly delish - & I'm always happy when the coffee slaps!
The curry bowls here are the perfect size for lunch & are very delicious. The matcha was also tasty. They are not sweetened though in case you are looking for a sweet matcha latte. It was very busy when we stopped in but we were able to find space on one of the shared long tables very quickly.
As upon arriving you can seat yourself & order at the cash. I got the lemonade yuzu, which was okay. Not the best. Hojicha was delicious!!! & the vegan curry was pretty good as well. This place tends to be very loud so be aware of that.
They had the best karaage that I've ever had in North America so far. It is so juicy, tender & well-seasoned, always comes in fresh. They not just put the starch outside, but also keep the chicken skin & fried them well, which is really nice!
I would also recommend their matcha latte & h?jicha latte. They taste great as well!
The only downside for their meals is it comes with a small portion, only 2-3 pieces of chicken is a bit not enough. & the curry itself tastes a bit normal. I also ordered the karaage sandwich version but their bread is a bit dry. But at the end, definitely a big fan of the karaage flavor.
Really packed coffee place. But their coffee is really good. I took the tamago sandwich which was supposedly their best seller. It was ok. The portion was good, I felt full after, but the flavour was a bit missing. Maybe I just got high expectations from it. Still really good tho! I think their curry are more worth it.
The curry is delicious & the drinks were so good. Can personally recommend the Chai Latte & dirty Chai.
Food is amazing but it always takes an hour to get a sando or a rice curry
Awesome little joint, don't be fooled by the exterior. Great sandwiches & to my surprise the Katsu Curry was great too.
As it moonlights as a club it's atmosphere is loud even during day service. There is a decibel monitor in the cafe & it was at 82 when we were there. We didn't wait for a line at 11:30am but the line quickly grew as we waited for our food so be ready to wait as it's a popular spot.
We heard about this place researching for our trip to Montreal & it was great for us.
Great music & atmosphere here, the food is delicious but the portions are a bit small. I ordered the chicken katsu curry(??) & there were two small pieces of chicken in it.
The café has a really cozy & inviting atmosphere, but it's not particularly suited for families with young kids. It feels more like a hangout spot for teenagers to socialize or meet new friends.
I tried the matcha latte - it was decent, though I personally prefer a stronger, slightly bitter matcha flavor. For lunch, I ordered the fried egg sandwich & the pork chop curry rice. The sandwich was nicely seasoned & quite enjoyable. The pork chop, while tasty, wasn't the traditional Japanese-style breaded version - it lacked the crispy panko coating you'd expect from a tonkatsu. That said, the curry sauce was very flavorful & well done.
Overall, the food was good, but the portion sizes were a bit small for my appetite.
8 really great tamago sandwich with smoked salmon was amazing. Chicken katsu sando would also be great to try. Def come again. Chicken curry was good but hyuga curry is better & sando is a better choice. Tamago with smoked is a great orde
matcha was very good. we order the tamago sando, katsu sando, katsu curry & chicken curry. all delicious!!!! staff we friendly & nice environment.
Osmo X Marusan Café-Terrasse is an absolute gem in downtown Montreal! From the moment you step inside this stylish, brutalist-inspired space, you know you're in for something special. The vibe is vibrant yet cozy, with plenty of natural light, lush plants, & a welcoming atmosphere perfect for working, hanging out, or enjoying a meal.
But let's talk food-this café truly shines with some of the best sandwiches in town. Whether it's their famous fried egg sandwich or the inventive pork chop sando, each bite bursts with flavor & creativity. The menu also features delicious Japanese-inspired dishes like ebi curry & katsu curry that are perfect for lunch or a casual dinner. Pair your meal with their expertly crafted coffee or a sublime matcha latte, & you're set for a fantastic experience.
The staff are friendly & knowledgeable, always ready to help you pick the perfect drink or sandwich. In the warmer months, their terraces offer a lovely spot to relax with a drink, & the occasional live DJ adds a fun, lively touch to the ambiance.
If you want a unique café experience that combines excellent Japanese flavors, top-notch coffee, & a cool, social atmosphere, Osmo X Marusan Café-Terrasse is a must-visit. Don't miss out on their sandwiches-they're truly some of the best in Montreal!
Highly recommended for locals & visitors alike.
Matcha & chicken curry are unreal. Can't wait to try more options on their menu
I saw the sandwiches on instagram & I wanted to try them, but they were sold out. I had the fried chicken curry, & actually was amazing. The chairs & the tables are metallic, a bit uncomfortable.
The Japanese curry is amazing. Beyond that, it seems more targeted at students otherwise & isn't very comfortable, though prices are a bit high.
Absolutely warm & upbeat atmosphere. This basement cafe is not afraid to show what its about in terms of decor & music. If its cold & dreary outside, you will feel rejuvenated from the coffee made specially by a barista who knows what he's doing; & feel at home after getting a nice & hot katsu curry. Compliment the DJ in the back, they're making sure your experience goes above & beyond. Highly recommend.
