Oplante never disappoints-hands down the best vegan sushi in Montreal! Their rolls are super creative, fresh, & packed with flavor. Whether it's a quick lunch or a cozy dinner, everything always hits the spot.
Plus, they often have great deals on Uber Eats, which makes it even better. A go-to spot for plant-based sushi lovers!
Absolutely the best value for Asian inspired vegan meals in Montreal. The food textures & flavors are highly appealing.
The Vegan sushi platter was good. However, extremely disappointed with the service. No one turns up to the table after taking the order. There is only 1 person in the whole restaurant who takes the order.
Un restaurant à essayer absolument, le service est impeccable & agréable, la cuisine délicieuse & le cadre parfait pour un repas en famille ou pour célébrer un anniversaire...
This was a real disappointment. I was very excited to try an all you can eat restaurant, but what a disappointment. Unfortunately, I won't be back & cannot recommend.
FOOD
All the food that is meant to be served hot was cold or room temp. We ordered two rounds & it was the same for both. Additionally, i ordered a spicy salmon sushi & it was not spicy at all. My boyfriend said the mock chicken tao was aweful. A lot of the items had too much sauce. The sushi were very average, not sure why some comments say they are the best sushi in town. Sushi momo, ohana & bloom are so much better, it doesn't even compare. The only thing I liked was the sauteed veggies even if they were room temp. I hope we don't get sick. Not sure if food has been sitting out or was not reheated properly.
TERRIBLE MENU
The menu was scanned, which is fine, but there was no description of the foods, just names. Therefore, when it came to sushi, you had no idea what was in it. Additionally, some items were marked SG which I assume means sans gluten (gluten-free in English), but the item would be marked gluten-free in the english menu, but not french menu. Plus, I asked the waitress if it meant gluten-free, & she had no idea what it meant
GLUTEN-FREE OPTIONS VERY LIMITED
We were 5 & I was the only gluten-free free one. I had called to see about the options, & she did mention it was limited, but some things are possible. When we got there & I scanned the menu, & since it was unclear what I could eat, I asked the waitress to tell me what's gluten-free. She mentioned that all sushi could be made without tempura to make them gluten-free, but that in the wok items, the only thing was sauteed veggies. I kept asking her to verify for other items marked SG & turns out some were gluten-free & others not. So we order & then she comes back to inform me that 3 of the sushis are not gluten-free afterall which were all the most interesting ones. I new my options wouldn't be awesome. But I still went for the rest of the group, but honestly it's not a good choice for gluten-free.
SERVICE
The service was quick which was nice. There was a robot bringing the plates which was funny for my daughter, but the robot did make a lot of noise on the tile floor. The waitress were not knowledgeable on the menu for gluten-free & kept needing to ask & didn't seem confident. They were polite though & quick to come when we signaled. We had to find & get the high chair ourselves. The booster was broken. Waitresses never proposed it.
ENVIRONMENT/AMBIANCE
Not the best, it felt quite cheap. Lacked decor. Cheap chairs, no place to hang coats. Plastic water jugs. Plastic soy sauce plates. Wooden disposable chopsticks & not cutlery. Had to go get forks ourselves. The one nice thing was that it was spaceous.
PRICE/PAYMENT
It was 37$ for all you can eat. Obviously, all you can eat is never the best ingredients. A lot of fried food, rice, & noodles to stuff you. I think the price is ok if it had better food. We have the mon quebec vegane card for discounts & when I asked her if they participated she said she didn't know. I looked it up & found the 10% discount & showed my card. She then applied it, but again lack of knowledge.
Vegan sushi are nice for vegetarians or people with allergies or pregnant women. The food is tasty & the employees suggest what type of sauce to use with different types of sushi, this is appreciated.
food was delicious, plentiful, & hot. attractive presentation. service was efficient & polite; special requests were fulfilled with ease. lovely spot. recommended.
Amazing ! Great food, good portions at a good price. 50% off for kids 12 & under was a nice surprise too.
I ordered from them because they also have vegan bubble tea. Okinawa: brown sugar milk tea with grass jelly & tapioca. Made with oat milk, it wasn't sweetened. I appreciate that it wasn't loaded with sugar. Pressed sushi: portobelo, jalapeno, avocado, assorted nuts, black pepper, radish, miso emulsion. It was so spicy because of the jalapeno slices! Pistachio maki: pistachio, shiitake mushroom, cucumber, avocado, green salad, vegan mozzarella, vegan tamago, asparagus, vegan kani. Although, I'm not a fan of the imitation food (kani, tamago). I prefer pickled ginger that doesn't have the pink dye. The order comes with a sweetened soy sauce.
Hi all, I just want to advise everyone that while the restaurant has a decent atmosphere & the vegetarian sushi are good, the price is now not only $35 for a vegetarian sushi buffet but 2 items or on the menu (& sometimes more) & now always out of stock & have not been restocked the many times we have come to eat at the restaurant in the last couple of months, making the overall meal now seemingly more expensive. For example, Lemon Fish is on the menu but has been greyed out & we are always told it has been sold out even though we came once a month. Basic appetizer as simple as spring rolls are now always out of stock even though we were the first wave of customers for the evening... (we were the first sitting of diners coming to have supper at the restaurant for the night). For the price of $35, there is no drinks (not even fountain soft drinks) included & no desserts included in the buffet menu. & worst of all The entire restaurant with over 50 customers (the restaurant being basically full house) is served by a platter-bringing robot on wheels & a waitress who is also a cashier for the night? How do you feel about having a reservation & having to wait 15 minutes lined up at the front to be seated? or having to go & get your own dishes, cutlery, napkins, dishes, or even get your own pitcher of water because it is just so slow? or how about your orders have been marked as served but you had orders of food missing? This is what happened in our last visit. So it appears while the price stays the same, there are choices of food taken out (or permanently sold out) compared to the restaurant buffet menu of a year ago or even a few months ago... If you accept all the downsides above, it is otherwise still a good restaurant to go... the food is decent, for a vegetarian buffet... but for the price range of $30 something dollars, there may be better non-vegetarian buffet choices out there in Montreal...since the service during the last visit is poor to nonexistent.
Best resto in montreal. Amazingly flavorful vegetarian food including veg sushis, fast & friendly service, 18$ all you can eat lunch. Update: the all you can eat option is now (dec 2024) 35$ + tips + tax…
