Great food. Got the 4 cheese French onion soup, & a couple of beers. Recommend stopping in. Keep hear the duck poutine is delicious!
Good food, ambiance, great service.
Served my beer in record time
Solid pub in the center of Montreal. Good beers in tap (a few local options too).
The food doesn't look that great, but the taste & smell more than make up for it. I recommend making a reservation because it was very busy. The atmosphere is nice, & the waiters are great too. The beer is the best I've had in Montreal. It's a really good place in terms of quality & price.
My wife & I stumbled into this Irish pub looking for a beer while touring Montreal years ago. We got the duck poutine with fois gras gravy & it's literally the greatest poutine we've ever had! We're poutine connoisseurs & have traveled all around the Quebec area & this is a must go to for all poutine fans!! Great atmosphere, good service & amazing food!!
Good food but terrible service, would rate that metric at zero stars if possible. Finished my first beer before we were tended to for our food order. Advised staff I wanted to pay bill in cash &, whilst I appreciate tipping in customary in Canada & was going to tip due to nice food, we were pressured into a larger tip than what was warranted due to the waiter bringing over a card machine to show us what we'should tip'. I hope that this was a one off experience as we would recommend the food.
I'm so looking forward to coming back here. The beer was delicious... But I have a complaint about the Duck Confit Poutine.... Why didn't anyone tell me about this before? It was so delicious. Maybe a once in a decade thing or I'll end up weighing 700llbs but honestly a great treat - make sure you're hungry first.
Great beer, amazing friendly service & a chicken burger that is like nothing else - definitely recommended for a aloud evening with great atmosphere.
NYKS is a cool-yet-unassuming bistro/pub that surpasses expectations with it's great food, drinks, & service.
We visited NYKS for lunch on a Thursday afternoon in July. There's a few options in the area of Ste-Catherine & Bleury Streets, but we found one of the best.
Upon arrival around noon, the place was coming alive. The staff were friendly & welcoming. We were quickly seated at a high-top table for two on the sidewalk out front, which was rather nice. NYKS had its streetside garage-style windows rolled up, with nice tables set up at the interior's edge that gave patrons inside a cool summer vibe & made passers-by (like us) want to drop in for a visit.
Our server was excellent. Friendly, charming, efficient, helpful. What more can you ask? It was a hot summer day & he quickly took our drink order & ensured that we had refreshment right away.
Before I discuss the unexpectedly excellent food, I'll mention that our server claimed NYKS had the best pour of Guinness in Montreal. I've been to all the best Irish (& English) pubs in the city, & Guinness is'my' beer, so his words raised an eyebrow. I happily put his claim to the test. The best in the city? Them's fightin' words, on a stage of unstable dynamite. But having recently enjoyed Montreal pub crawl experiences (plural), along with my fair share of pints'o the black stuff, I'll say this: I split the G & thoroughly enjoyed my glass. Followed by another.
The food was outstanding & of much higher quality than we expected for an afternoon lunch at an unpretentious bistro. For that matter, the food was as good (or better) than that which had been served to us at some of top-rated places we'd recently visited. A pleasant surprise!
For an appetizer, we had a fabulous'warm seasonal mushroom brushetta.' For lunch, it was an excellent & surprisingly satisfying Niçoise salad, with a generous portion of pan-seared tuna steak, mixed green salad, green beans, tomatoes, baby potatoes, a soft-boiled egg, kalamata olives, red onions, & fresh herb dressing. Also, a very tasty Ratatouille, with added lamb sausage, Kalamata olives, feta cheese, & puff pastry with basil pesto.
All in all, a 5-star lunch.
I've frequently walked past NYKS in the evening & it appeared to be a popular bar for the 5-to-7 & nighttime crowds. Based on other reviews, it seems that's true. But it's also true that NYKS is more than just a bar. It's a great little place for refreshing drinks & an exceptionally nice meal.
Fantastic atmosphere! Friendly staff, even when super busy. Excellent fish n chips, & beer 🍻
Merci beaucoup, NYKS 💕
Cute, cozy spot for a drink! I tried one of their cider-beer drinks (which I've never seen offered anywhere else) & enjoyed it.
Fun place, just out of the way. We had the mussels & fries & some beers. Warm & welcoming vibe & high quality food. I'd go back for sure.
So warm & lovely layout
Staff is nice & friendly (specially Marie)
Location is great
Beer is delicious
I tried many types
Highly recommended
Love it. Small, & close proximity brings a tight vibe that's really nice. Great staff & service, chill atmosphere great tunes. Great beer selection & unique, great quality food options.
Great spot for a beer or drink. It's quite small though so not good if you have many people. There is essentially no where to stand.
Regular at Nyk's, always love coming here. The staff is great, food is good. Max & Jordan are very good & always give me great service. They have too many local beers on draft & I would like to see an Irish cream ale like Kilkenny on draft to increase variety.
Fish & chips were disappointing, the batter had no flavor & was greasy. Sitting on the fries made them greasy as well. The salad was oily & had no flavor. The staff was very good & the ambiance was awesome. I'll go for a bee
