Food was good but not wow. Strawberries felt overpowering the foie gras. Almost impossible to apply the foie gras on the provided bread because the bread was too soft / foie gras was too solid.
Tartare was special with the mix of popcorn , for me it worked fine but nothing wow. The freshness of the tuna helped making the dish better.

Took the braised beef as finale. There was again some strawberries... would have traded those strawberries for some more veggies.

Service was good on the plating / cleaning but we definitely felt a bit snobbed or cold on the greeting & good bye side. Waiter definitely didn't like that we didn't order a lot of foods. I have worked in the restauration for many years so I know what's an excellent service.View more

Service & atmosphere were perfect; we really loved the people who were kind, attentive, & professional. We were very disappointed by the food. I think the kitchen executed the dishes according to what they intended, but it was our least enjoyable meal this trip. Three of the dishes (tartare, foie gras, scallop) felt like they just sprinkled tiny amounts of a feature ingredient into a pile of acidic garnish. The scallop dish likely did not contain even a single entire scallop. The hen dish with morels MAY have contained a single morel. These dishes left us feeling like we were searching for ingredients in a pile of garnish. They may notice that plates tend to return with a whole bunch of garnish on them, & that would not be surprising. The ingredient pairings at times made no sense. Popcorn does NOT pair well with raw tuna. Sounds fun. Doesn't work. Strawberries & Foie Gras sounds fun. Doesn't work.

I'm happy when people take risks & do things differently, but the prices were wildly out of sync with what was delivered. This was one of six'fine dining' experiences we had this trip & was by far our least favorite.

We left hungry. Went for poutine.View more

My husband & I dined at Montreal Plaza on Tuesday evening, & i were pleasantly surpised by how lively & busy it was for a weeknight. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, stylish, & inviting-modern with a quirky charm that instantly sets the tone for a fun, memorable evening. The service was top-notch from beginning to end. Every server we interacted with was friendly, knowledgeable, & genuinely attentive. It was so refreshing to see every staff member smiling & eager to help.

We shared several dishes & every single one was beautifully executed & plated like a work of art. The Fish tartare with squash was delicate & flavorful. The mackerel plancha was cooked perfectly. The standout for me was the Pacman scallop-a creative ceviche-style dish bursting with brightness from grapefruit & clementines. Absolutely divine!

The monkfish & octopus yakitori was another winner, served with a light salad that paired beautifully. I'm normally not a fan of foie gras, but their foie gras with truffle literally melted in my mouth-it was that good.

For our main, we shared the fluke with beurre blanc. I have a dairy sensitivity, & the chef prepared the dish completely dairy-free-& it was still rich, delicate, & full of flavor. The fact that one of the servers went through the entire menu & marked which items were dairy-free made me feel so taken care of. That kind of attention to detail really makes a difference.

Huge kudos to the chef & the entire kitchen team for executing a flawless meal. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, & the flavors were balanced & memorable. Dining here was such a pleasure from start to finish, & I'm already looking forward to going back.

It was kinda expensive, but worth every penny as each bite was scrumptious. My favorite was the Foie Gras + Melon-such a unique combination, & I've never tasted anything like it before. The ambience was amazing & unique, & the staff were friendly too!View more

J'adore cet endroit ! Ambiance exaltée, service hors-pair, nourriture exceptionnelle. Les drinks étaient excellents, même les options sans alcool (celui Fraises Cassis particulièrement délicieux). Nous avons partagés, les pétoncles-riz, la salade avec oeuf panko, foie gras poêlé, le boudin, la volaille, & le lapin. Mention spéciale pour le lapin. La salade aurait pu être un peu plus assaisonnée, mais c'est mon seul commentaire.View more

Incredible evening. Went for dinner & got the tasting menu. Loved our experience! The place is beautifully decorated, warm & inviting. The fun touches also make it so the place doesn't feel snobby even though it's exceptional in so many ways. The staff were all friendly, attentive & knowledgeable. We had: 1. The asparagus mousse - excellent 2. Mackerel & trout nigiri on a potato & tuna salad. - good 3. For the third course we each had something different because of a dietary restriction. I had the foie gras with strawberry & rubarb. My husband the smoked tomato soup with bluefin. - Both excellent 4. Walleye with guanciale. - delicious 5. Duck red wine sauce raclette-like cheese, mushroom, cranberries, white asparagus, Dijon mash, cabbage - honestly one of the weirdest mains I've ever had. The duck itself was excellent but the dish wasn't my favourite. I will absolutely go back. Really love this placeView more

Comme un Saint-Hubert de luxe J'entends déjà les poils s'hérisser & transpercer les chemises d'un coup sec - phhhht - à la lecture d'une telle hétérodoxie. - N'écris pas ça dans ta critique. J'avais envie de rigoler & de susciter l'engouement avec un titre accrocheur, une remarque lancée après deux coquetels bien enfoncés dans les reins. - C'est comme un Saint-Hubert de Luxe. Évidemment, le Montréal Plaza n'a rien à voir avec un Saint-Hubert si ce n'est que... son aspect familial assumé & affirmé. Chaque personne & chaque esprit est bienvenu, enfants compris, pour lesquels on fournit des crayons, & l'enfance dont l'univers a inspiré certains éléments décoratifs les plus notables & créatifs, dont la maison suspendue à l'envers qui tournoie, les dinosaures, les Schtroumpfs, les camions... Le service Cadillac veille au grain, une machine bien huilée & rodée soucieuse d'accommoder les clients dans leur moindre désir & de leur faire passer une soirée qui restera gravée dans leur matière grise. Charles-Antoine, le chef déambulant dans sa salle, divertit les commensaux avec sa fantaisie proverbiale. Notre homme, Ray, capte des bribes de conversations & s'amuse à les commenter. Une approche, surprenante, mais agréable, soulignant à gros traits qu'on forme une grande famille le temps d'un souper. Un coquetel enlevé trop tôt - mon regretté Jour de plage... je n'ai pu te dire adieu - ? Nous avisons l'employé trop empressé. En deux temps, trois mouvements, le message est relevé au maître d'hôtel (présumément) qui vient revêtu d'affabilité & de candeur pour commenter la carte des desserts & nous offrir une boisson gratuite comme compensation. C'est bien là le raffinement & les bonnes manières qu'on attend d'une grande table, ça &, bien entendu, les mets. Des bouchées préparées avec minutie & savoir-faire, & le plaisir qui va en augmentant : Une curiosité, la mousse d'asperge nous fait découvrir ce que ce serait de manger des asperges sous forme de mousse. Le canard & caviar s'envole comme un oiseau chassé par des fourchettes. Une gibelotte visuellement, mais recelant de saveurs. Les pétoncles princesses (hors menu), avec les fraises à l'honneur, nous amènent à les savourer crues dans une préparation vinaigrée. Une autre curiosité. Un grand classique, les bourgots miso, suscite le plus grand enthousiasme du palais & un hochement de tête accompagne chaque bouchée. L'onglet + fromage, de la viande cuite & préparée comme il se doit, emmitouflée d'une cape de fromage. Un régal (& le préféré de ma compagne de table). Le foie gras + rhubarbe dont le pain brioché un brin sucré a retenu le plus l'attention avec une réitération de fraises & de présentation florale. La volaille avec sa sauce de vin de xérès - ah ! Je suis un grand amateur de cette sauce & de ce poulet ! Les pommes étaient par ailleurs parfaitement apprêtées, minces & douces. Passons aux desserts ! Le Fruit Crispy énoncé comme étant leur plus populaire, un sorbet fruité sur un lit mousseux de chocolat blanc dans lequel étaient figées des biscottes de meringue. Un jeu de texture & de fraîcheur des plus réussis. La fausse truffe infusée d'onctueux chocolat dont les yeux & la langue se délectaient tout autant. Dis donc, combien étions-nous ? Deux. Un grand & un petit estomac ; il faut une longue énumération de plats pour manger à sa faim... L'avantage est bien évidemment la possibilité de goûter à un grand éventail de bontés culinaires. Le désavantage est bien évidemment la facture qui s'alourdit autant que l'estomac : 170 $ par personne, deux consommations incluses, avant un pourboire amplement mérité. En somme, le Montréal Plaza est une table des grandes occasions, ou la sortie du samedi soir pour les familles au portefeuille bien portant. À ce stade, je juge utile de mentionner que sa soeur, Juliette Plaza, propose des prix réduits sans que cela équivaille à couper dans l'amusement. Had a 9:00pm reservation for 4, arrived 8:55 & waited over 12 minutes till we were actually seated. Upon being seated another 5-6 minutes with no service until I actively asked them to come to us. Our server was remarkably friendly & really does his job really well. Food is however below our expectations. In our opinion some of the food lacks salt & is just overly simple with flavoring. It could be our own preference, but food is not the biggest issue. Wait time between dishes are up to 20 minutes. Foie gras - a rather fast dish to assemble - was in my opinion completely frogotten/omitted after we ordered, & was assembled only after we mentioned the fact that every other dish is already finished except that. Then there was the beef tartare. The portion was rather small, & the egg is not adequately mixed into the beef. Not really pleasing for it's price point. One of the plates of my friend is not cleaned properly too. I have to praise the waiter again. After knowing the unpleasant experience we've had, he handled it really well & even removed a dish from our bill. In general, the place has good vibe, good environment & some of the best servers. The indoor open kitchen design is also really neat. However, it seemed like it could need more staffing, as service is slow & in certain areas sloppy. Alors c'est très bon! Le goût y est! Mais nom de Dieu que les portions sont anémiques! Beaucoup de restaurant ont adopté la formule "tapas" ou portion allégée! Je suis un adepte des bouchons lyonnais : en clair! Ma gamelle avec une entrée...un plat & du vin.

Je le répète le goût dans l'assiette y est, mais j'aurai aimé surtout pour une facture à 270$ ressortir de là en roulant!

On a pris 3 plats chaque ( verrine d'oursinX2, os à moelle, foie gras, bourgots & le maquereau, une bouteille de vin & un apéro.
