Seafood was fresh & tasty. However, for the price (paid over 300$ for food & drinks), I would of expected better service & attention to detail. There was a few faux pas, my Martini was served with an even number of olives, we had hair in one of our dishes, bathrooms wernt very clean & half way through the meal our waiter seemed very unintrested in giving us service or being pleasent. More specifically, he walked away from us twice while we were mid sentence trying to order. Also, after paying our bill he walked away without saying anything, I had to scream at him'have a good night' while he was already half way through the restaurant, no thank you, no nothing. Do not think I will return.View more

Service & atmosphere were perfect; we really loved the people who were kind, attentive, & professional. We were very disappointed by the food. I think the kitchen executed the dishes according to what they intended, but it was our least enjoyable meal this trip. Three of the dishes (tartare, foie gras, scallop) felt like they just sprinkled tiny amounts of a feature ingredient into a pile of acidic garnish. The scallop dish likely did not contain even a single entire scallop. The hen dish with morels MAY have contained a single morel. These dishes left us feeling like we were searching for ingredients in a pile of garnish. They may notice that plates tend to return with a whole bunch of garnish on them, & that would not be surprising. The ingredient pairings at times made no sense. Popcorn does NOT pair well with raw tuna. Sounds fun. Doesn't work. Strawberries & Foie Gras sounds fun. Doesn't work.

I'm happy when people take risks & do things differently, but the prices were wildly out of sync with what was delivered. This was one of six'fine dining' experiences we had this trip & was by far our least favorite.

We left hungry. Went for poutine.View more

I recently visited Montreal Plaza, a well-known spot in the city that often gets a lot of buzz. While the ambiance was quirky & the service attentive, the overall dining experience didn't quite live up to the expectations. The menu was creative, but some dishes felt more style than substance. Flavors were decent & memorable, but portion sizes were on the smaller side for the price.

It's a nice place if you're curious to try something trendy or enjoy the vibe, but personally, I found it a bit overrated. There are definitely other spots in Montreal that offer a more satisfying experience at a better value.View more

My husband & I dined at Montreal Plaza on Tuesday evening, & i were pleasantly surpised by how lively & busy it was for a weeknight. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, stylish, & inviting-modern with a quirky charm that instantly sets the tone for a fun, memorable evening. The service was top-notch from beginning to end. Every server we interacted with was friendly, knowledgeable, & genuinely attentive. It was so refreshing to see every staff member smiling & eager to help.

We shared several dishes & every single one was beautifully executed & plated like a work of art. The Fish tartare with squash was delicate & flavorful. The mackerel plancha was cooked perfectly. The standout for me was the Pacman scallop-a creative ceviche-style dish bursting with brightness from grapefruit & clementines. Absolutely divine!

The monkfish & octopus yakitori was another winner, served with a light salad that paired beautifully. I'm normally not a fan of foie gras, but their foie gras with truffle literally melted in my mouth-it was that good.

For our main, we shared the fluke with beurre blanc. I have a dairy sensitivity, & the chef prepared the dish completely dairy-free-& it was still rich, delicate, & full of flavor. The fact that one of the servers went through the entire menu & marked which items were dairy-free made me feel so taken care of. That kind of attention to detail really makes a difference.

Huge kudos to the chef & the entire kitchen team for executing a flawless meal. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, & the flavors were balanced & memorable. Dining here was such a pleasure from start to finish, & I'm already looking forward to going back.

Five stars, hands down. Highly recommend!View more

The wine selection & side dishes are great. Meat mains have very little meat for the price. Flavour combinations are creative. Service is knowledgeable & kind.View more

Amazing vibe & eclectic presentation of dishes. I highly recommend the tasting menu as it had a focus on Asian seafood dishes which were impeccable!View more

I truly don't understand the hype here. For the price this place is a serious let down. After being seated no one came to see us to get a drink order for 25 minutes. We ordered five dishes as per the waiter's recommendation & waited another 20 between hot courses. Our water was refilled twice during the entire meal. The food was nothing to write home about. The crab salad was good but their "vol au vent" is nothing more than a pot pie with frozen vegetables & more hard boiled egg than scallops. The tartare was buried in shavings of squash with so little fish it just felt like a rip off. As far as ambiance goes it's one of the loudest places I've been to in years. You need to yell just to hear your dinner date. Definitely not a place for an intimate dinner for two. Every time someone orders a dessert they turn up the music to 11 & the server walks around with a "bomb" that serves no purpose other than flash & fanfare. Overall this place is all style & no substance. At over $100 per person I would not recommend it & will not be returning. If you want to have the proper version of a place like this, go to Vin Mon Lapin.View more

Had a 9:00pm reservation for 4, arrived 8:55 & waited over 12 minutes till we were actually seated. Upon being seated another 5-6 minutes with no service until I actively asked them to come to us. Our server was remarkably friendly & really does his job really well. Food is however below our expectations. In our opinion some of the food lacks salt & is just overly simple with flavoring. It could be our own preference, but food is not the biggest issue. Wait time between dishes are up to 20 minutes. Foie gras - a rather fast dish to assemble - was in my opinion completely frogotten/omitted after we ordered, & was assembled only after we mentioned the fact that every other dish is already finished except that. Then there was the beef tartare. The portion was rather small, & the egg is not adequately mixed into the beef. Not really pleasing for it's price point. One of the plates of my friend is not cleaned properly too. I have to praise the waiter again. After knowing the unpleasant experience we've had, he handled it really well & even removed a dish from our bill. In general, the place has good vibe, good environment & some of the best servers. The indoor open kitchen design is also really neat. However, it seemed like it could need more staffing, as service is slow & in certain areas sloppy. Also food is underwhelming for the high expectations.View more

Let me start with my appreciation for the passion & skill it takes to create a menu so complex & bold. Lots of unique combinations & daring dishes. The food was excellent; 10/10.

There is something missing with the flow. We arrived at 9pm & ordered at 9:05pm. The server was excellent annd professional. Our drinks came at 9:15pm with the oysters. Great start!

It took another 30 mins for the fois gras. Another 40 mins for scallops & mushrooms. Another 30 mins for bourguignon & salad. Each with a plate change. I appreciate the attention to detail, but you’re missing the bigger picture. More than half an hour between courses is just unacceptable for this scale of dining. We had an almost 3 hour dinner service, for 6 dishes. We were starving for 80% of our service, & tables beside us were complaining about the exact same thing. I do not fault the service or kitchen staff, this is a problem with standards & expectations of management/owners.

Amazing food, great team but hopefully some reflection with your menu. I suspect having 10 daily specials on top of a regular menu filled with complex dishes/ingredients is excessive & overwhelming your young kitchen team. They delivered exceptional quality, but we won’t be returning anytime soon & I can promise half of the patrons tonight feel the same way. No one wants to eat dinner past midnight. Even for Europeans, that’s too much.View more
