We had a great time here. Rare ribeye was cooked beautifully & very tasty. Lobster mac & cheese had a generous amount of lobster, & the creamed spinach was lovely. The service was great. I'm not sure who the guy was, wish I'd asked his name, but he was very attentive & friendly.
Was very good, I ordered the short rib ($50). My buddy ordered the 14oz rib eye ($75). Service was excellent. We ordered the mixed grilled vegetables to share ($16). I'd go back again, everything was nicely cooked & very flavourful
Took a group of six friends to Moishes last Friday night & honestly it was one of those dinners that reminds you why classic steakhouses exist. The dry-aged ribeye was absolutely perfect, properly crusted on the outside & pink all the way through, exactly how you want it. Our server Antoine was attentive without hovering, kept the wine topped up & actually knew the menu inside & out. The old-school wood paneling & white tablecloths give the room this warm, timeless energy that just made the whole night feel special.
We had the oysters Rockefeller for an appetizer. It was amazing. So good. We then had lobster mac & cheese & 16 ounce ribeye cooked medium. For an appetizer, they brought out bread, a pickle for each person, & coleslaw, which was prepared in a unique manner I've not had before. The wait staff was very friendly. Manager checked on us, which was a very classy touch. Wine was $42 a glass so be careful there but absolutely our favorite meal of our four day trip in Montreal.
Let me start by saying that Moishes is my husband's favorite steak restaurant in Montreal, but this visit was not up to par. This particular visit was at my husband's request to celebrate his birthday with family, luckily most of the experience was good. He enjoyed the meal, as did the other guests. My issue was with my meal, I had the Beef short rib which I barely touched because it was extremely salty. No questions were asked when the table was cleared & my plate was almost in tact, which was disappointing. Although in all honesty, I probably wouldn't have raised the issue because I did not want to ruin my husband's & the guests' evening. For the reputation & cost of a Moishes evening, I was disappointed to say the least. On a good note, our server was good & the sommelier was outstanding.
My wife & I just got married (May 2026) & the night after the wedding, we travelled to Montreal & had our first dinner date as husband & wife. There truly was nowhere else I would have taken her except to Moishes. In fact, for the two week honeymoon, & planning everything, Moishes was the first confirmed location on my plan, even before where we would stay, etc.
I have been to Moishes multiple times, with others & with my kids. I wasn't aware that Moishes moved from their previous second floor location until I got the walking instructions from my hotel, & it was then that I realized they changed locations. I quite enjoyed their new location as it is brighter, more easily accessible. But what remains the same is the food - absolutely tremendous & continues to set the bar for quality, & anyone in Montreal MUST have Moishes in their dining itinerary at some point.
The last number of times I was there, I ordered the same thing - the filet mignon & the creamed spinach. Both are out of this world & if I could have access to this every day (& have deep enough pockets to afford it), I would eat this day in & day out. As always it was amazing, done exactly how I like & impeccable flavour.
I believe my wife had the ribs & the mixed grilled vegetables (& a salad) & as always, the presentation, colour, etc, not to mention the flavour was unparalled. & of course, the pickles were to die for (my wife's words). I think after two weeks of travelling 4 provinces & going to many, many restaurants, Moishes still holds the gold standard for her for her favourite meal.
Service was extraordinary. Server was friendly, knowledgeable, & was timely & responsive to our needs.
Going to Moishes is a given for us, when we are in Montreal. I am glad my wife has become a believer in how good this restaurant is. Moishes has earned top marks every time I have dined there & this time is no exception. Easy five stars, every day of the week.
