Modavie is a timeless place that brings us back to our roots, where ladies & gents gather and eat in a lively atmosphere caused by great conversation, live music and the wooden scents of a vintage room. Born in 1997, it quickly became popular among locals & visitors, and is now considered a Montreal institution.
Treat yourself to refined French fare in an antique & dimmed corner locale spawning two floors. From the classic beef tartare, to tasty sweetbread, to the famous ratatouille, your cravings will be easily satiated.
Modavie comes across as a warm, lively French bistro in Old Montreal with inviting lighting, timeless charm and nightly live jazz. Reviewers consistently highlight friendly, attentive service and a welcoming staff that makes celebrations feel special. The menu features crowd pleasers like duck confit, rack of lamb and lamb chops, escargots, onion soup and mussels with fries, with many dishes praised for bold flavors and generous portions. The atmosphere blends old world charm with modern warmth, and the two level space with live music creates a vibrant yet conversation friendly setting. While busy nights can bring a bit of hustle and occasional slower pacing, the overall experience is described as memorable and well worth returning for.
Great place for French food & live music. The rack of lamb was some of the best I've had at a restaurant & our server was very helpful on helping us pick out our wine, appetizer & desserts. Will be back!
Found this amazing french wine bar & restaurant with live music! Great wine selection & french food! Booking on weekend is recommended! Friendly staff.

Cuisine délicieuse, l os a moelle était un vrai bonheur. Le canard très bien cuit. Une très belle adresse dans un quartier où les restaurants sont plutôt "touristiques"
It was an amazing experience! The food was extremely delicious! Lorenzo made sure everything was okay & his friendly & kind personality added alot to the experience 💯💯💯 totally recommended! Update. Still my fav in the town!
We visited here on Memorial Day weekend from the U.S. This place was hard to find due to the construction, but it was crowded on Sunday. We ordered the brunch tower, small foie gras, & mimosas. The tower was impressive & caught the attention of other customers. I liked the salmon dish the most. The jazz band was also great. I definitely recommend this restaurant in Montreal.
Great location near the boardwalk. Patrice was our server & did an amazing job! Very friendly & knowledgeable. Food was great! Knocked 1 star off because it was super hot & we were literally sweating the entire time. I would go there there again.

Had an amazing meal with a fantastic bottle of wine while Jazz music played live in the background. I took my fiancé here for a birthday dinner & it did not disappoint. The crème brûlée was the cherry on top. Highly recommend!
We had an amazing meal at Modavie. Our server, George, gave us great suggestions from the wine to main dishes to desserts. Everything was on point. He was very attentive & friendly. Go for the lamb chops. They are to die for! My son has the mussels & my husband had the duck- both superb. In addition, there's live music which gives the experience a nice touch. We wanted to have a great French meal & Modavie did not disappoint. ❤️❤️❤️
Our server, George was great - attentive, friendly & easy going. The meal was good. The apple tarte for dessert was delicious. The live music was really nice. The atmosphere was great!

We stopped in unexpectedly after an early show in Vieux-Port. Lorenzo greeted us & treated my family & I very well. Our server Patrice was excellent & the food was superb. I had the Confit de Canard (with Foie Gras add on) & it was probably the best duck confit I've ever had. I'd like to go back for an evening when there is music but our time in town probably won't allow it. Definitely would recommend.
Highly recommend Modavie - amazing service, & great ambiance in old Montreal. I ordered the mussels & fries, & they were delicious! I also saw in the side of the restaurant with live music, & it was lovely. Highly recommend checking this place out if you're looking for French cuisine in Montreal!
Great drinks, amazing dessert. Steak was cooked perfectly & flavorful. All the appetizers were top notch. Would come again. Price was very good as well for the quality of food
Hello, I was at your restaurant last evening & what an amazing experience because of Sal. We were going to be seating at a table but he said no sit at the bar & he didn't disappoint us. He had great drink suggestions as well as food suggestions. Great service, amazing food & the ambiance was cool. Live music 🎶 made it fun to get up & dance 💃 Thank you. Laurie
