This French restaurant in Old Montreal has a nice atmosphere, with stylish décor & occasional live music.
Food-wise, it was decent but not especially outstanding - understandable for a tourist-area restaurant. The French onion soup had good flavor, but it could use more cheese & a bit more baking for extra aroma. The beef tartare was also acceptable; the meat quality was fine & the seasoning was decent.
Overall, it's a solid spot, mainly for the atmosphere & location. The price is a higher than similar-quality restaurants elsewhere, but given the tourist area, it's reasonable. If you're willing to venture a little outside Old Montreal, there are better dining options available. :)

Delicious & great vibes! Even our kids received a lovely welcome from Lorenzo, & by far the best meal we had in Old Montreal. Highly recommend but make a reservation! Kids menu (Mac n cheese, nuggets with fries, pasta) was a huge plus.

Best steak frites & onion soup we've ever had. The steak was so tender & cooked perfectly. Onion soup was flavorful & took the soul for a ride. The mushroom risotto was not too heavy & cooked perfectly. The backstage cocktail was a delicious take on an espresso martini & I plan to try & recreate it at home.

The host was incredibly warm & inviting. He gave us a cozy corner table with an amazing view towards old town Montreal. Our waiter was so warm & friendly, & we were well taken care of. Highly recommend & 100% will be coming back. Merci Beaucoup!

I'm glad we picked Modavie for our final dinner in Montreal! It all started when we were lucky enough to be seated in Patrice's section. He was quick with recommendations & made us feel welcome even though we did not speak French. The food was incredible & arrived at the table exactly when it needed to. The bread was so fresh it still had steam coming off of it & the drinks were mixed perfectly. If you're in the city, this restaurant is worth a stop & fingers crossed you are seated in Patrice's section.

We visited Modavie for our first fine dining experience in Montreal & had a reservation at 9:30 PM. After waiting outside before being seated & then waiting another hour after placing our order, we were informed at 10:30 PM that a water leakage issue had forced the kitchen to stop cooking.
We completely understand that unexpected situations & safety concerns can arise. However, after waiting so long with two young, hungry children, it was disappointing that not a single dish had been served & there was very little communication beyond a brief apology.
Unfortunately, it was late on a Saturday night, & finding another restaurant with gluten-free options was difficult. We eventually ended up having pizza at midnight. While we understand emergencies happen, the overall experience was very disappointing.

Modavie is the perfect place for dinner in Montreal. The live jazz creates a wonderful atmosphere, making the experience truly special. The highlight of the meal was the rack of lamb-it was perfectly cooked, tender, & full of flavor. I highly recommend Modavie for anyone looking for great food, live music, & an unforgettable dining experience.
