Chef Kolya Olivier & mixologist Antoine Bernbé absolutely outdid themselves on Thursday evening when my husband & I came to Montreal for our belated anniversary dinner. We were saddened to hear the restaurant will be closing in under a week, & that made their efforts all the more noteworthy. It takes special people with passion & dedication to their crafts to continue to knock-it out of the park when others might throw-in the towel. In a world that often seems senseless with too many people who no longer seem to care, it was refreshing to be treated to the culinary & sensory wonders these two dedicated men created for us & for the other couple that evening as the Mezcla prepares to close its doors. It seems a lost opportunity to have had them in the back room without signage to the restaurant which was a true hidden gem. We wish chef Olivier every best wish in his new role at Hoogan & Beaufort where we will travel to again from Ontario to feast at his table. & to Antoine we give our warm wishes for his new adventure that awaits him in Mexico City - we will one day make the pilgrimage there to taste his unique creations.

A great intimate hidden gem in Old Montreal!! The care & attention put into the details of the food & the wine pairings showed a true passion. The team who served us were friendly, informative & proud of what they offered. Thank you for a memorable evening.

I took a gamble on a blind tasting menu at a brand-new restaurant with very few reviews, booking it for a girls' night out to celebrate a birthday-& it paid off beautifully.

The food was the first revelation. Every course was exceptional, layered with bold, thoughtful flavours that completely won us over. Each dish felt intentional & confident, showcasing both creativity & restraint.

The service deserves equal praise. The staff struck that rare balance of being warm, knowledgeable, & attentive without ever feeling intrusive. Each dish was explained with care & enthusiasm, & the pacing of the evening felt effortless-attentive, but never rushed. There was a quiet elegance to how well we were looked after.

Then there's the space itself: small, intimate, & inviting without tipping into stuffy or predictable. It's the kind of room that makes you want to linger. The drinks were well crafted & refreshingly well priced, which only added to the overall sense that this restaurant knows exactly what it's doing.

Right now, it still feels like a hidden gem-but once word gets out, securing a table here is going to be a challenge. If you can, go sooner rather than later.
