Marathon Souvlaki in the Décarie district of Montreal, specializes in fresh, tender meat souvlakis. Marathon Souvlaki has also won an award for the best souvlaki by the Gazette. There are a choice between pork, lamb, chicken or even vegetarian souvlaki. Other dishes are also available at Marathon Souvlaki.
Marathon Souvlaki reads like a Montreal Greek staple known for fresh, flavorful food, generous portions and solid value, with the Marathon salad and tzatziki singled out as must haves and the grilled meats reliably juicy and well seasoned. The menu covers gyro, souvlaki, calamari, and pita plates, and the food often arrives hot and quick, making it a popular choice for families and casual meals. Service is repeatedly described as friendly, attentive and efficient, though a few reviews note crowding, noise, or slow moments during peak hours, and some have reported inconsistency in meat quality or salad freshness at times. Takeout is common, with generally good quality and portions, but a few diners complain about packaging or extra charges for dressing. Overall Marathon Souvlaki is seen as a dependable and affordable option for Greek cuisine in Montreal, delivering a welcoming atmosphere and reliable flavors that keep regulars coming back, even as opinions differ on certain dishes and days.
Food is delicious, wait staff is always friendly. However, the portions have really shrunk in the past couple of years. Disappointing to be getting less of that delicious Marathon salad than I did a few years ago
It's 2026 time to separate your salad from your main dish. Every time I eat there I get dirty & my food falls all over the table. I feel like a little kid. & when you ask for salad on the side even worse the give you to side plates stuffed to the top.

Food is always consistent & service is always quick & friendly. Honestly some of the best calamari I've had - even though it's a bit pricey the portion is very generous. Marathon salad is a must have
This was my second time at this restaurant. The food is delicious, the portions are large, & the prices are fair.
I ordered the chicken sandwich with half rice & half fries, plus the marathon salad with their special sauce. Everything was tasty, & everyone was happy with their meals.
We stayed until closing, & no one rushed us to leave, which was very kind. The waitress was friendly & attentive, & the place was clean.
I highly recommend this restaurant, especially if you crave good Greek food with generous portions.
For her good service, her patience & the advice she provided us, our waitress deserves a pay raise. She was sweet & efficient. Congrats on hiring good workers!
The food is what brings the score down. The meat was chewy & slightly burned. There was wayyyy too much tzatziki on the pitas, although the tzatziki was very tasty(coming from a sauce girl like me, this means something). The fries had no taste at all. The Greek salad was essentially tomatoes with oil, a couple of cucumbers & two olives. The fish dip… run. But I'm not a fish fan, so don't take my word for it.
The portions are very generous, which compensate slightly for the prices & the quality.
Overall alright experience, although very mid. I probably won't come here again. Props on parking though! It's nice to have easy parking spaces in Montreal.
Delicious food & friendly service!
The food was absolutely amazing-especially the Marathon Salad, which was incredibly tasty & full of flavor. The staff were friendly & welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable.
The only downside for me was the atmosphere-it felt a bit too crowded & lacked a distinctive style that's why 4⭐? for the atmosphere.
But overall, a great spot for a tasty meal!
Marathon's has been around for a very long time. Deservedly so, as they have kept they food quality & great taste along with generous portions. My personal favorite is their loose meat pork gyro plate, with half & half fries & crispy golden potatoes. It comes with delicious rice & their marathon salad topped with their famous dressing. Mix the salad with some of the meat for a delicious treat. The service is friendly & I'm surprised every time how fast their dishes come out. Marathon's is true staple of Greek food in Montreal. You can't go wrong.

Wow the quality of this restaurant went downhill, quantities of food are bad for the price, at least for takeout. The receptionist misunderstood dressing on the side with'give me an extra dressing & charge me 3$ for it'
50 bucks for a gyro pita + a chicken plate with 2 chicken sticks + marathon salad. If my wife had seen the quantity of food & the poor quality of what they called a salad, she would have never gave a 5$ tip for takeout.
I do not recommend , at least for takeout. Go buy yourself some greek food litterally anywhere else & you will be more satisfied. Felt like we were just scammed 20$ for the amount of food.
They really know their way to make beautiful deep fried foods! The calamari & dollar fries are both amazing. Their pork souvlaki & gyro pork are also pretty great. If anything, the tzatziki & salad were too salty to the level that for sure will spike your blood pressure. Oh the portion is great!
La nourriture est toujours excellente! C'est un "must" quand on visite Montréal! J'adore le souvlaki au poulet avec salade marathon & moitié riz/patates
Clean establishment with a variety of choices for any appetite. Ordered chicken gyros small & large sizes within our party, enough for leftovers for later. Nice service & prices were reasonable. Wish the Greek salad had a better balance of cucumbers instead of a high percentage of tomatoes. Seemed odd to us for a Greek salad, it was more of a tomato salad. This is a return visit, dined here a couple of years ago.
