La Meunerie Urbaine is widely praised for its exceptional bread, with many reviewers calling it among the best bakeries in Montreal for sourdough, baguettes, croissants and pastries; the focus on craftsmanship shines in the loaves and the offer of focaccia and viennoiseries, while some comments point to changes after a remodel or on busy days that alter texture and supply, including debates about olive focaccia and baguette thickness; the experience is often described as pleasant with friendly staff, a clean modern space and a convenient self-serve setup that helps when lines are long, though a few readers miss the earlier warmth and visibility of the bakery area; overall the reviews present La Meunerie Urbaine as a standout destination for bread lovers with strong appeal and occasional caveats about consistency and stock.
Beautiful bakery with a warm, modern atmosphere & amazing fresh bread. The space feels bright, calm, & thoughtfully designed, & the staff were very friendly. Definitely a place worth coming back to for coffee & pastries. 🥖☕
Flakiest croissant, chocolatine, & cinnamon rolls that I've ever had in Montréal. The breads are full of flavor inside with a great crunchy crust on the outside. They're popular, it's pretty rare to not have to line up to buy some of their goodness; however, that's a good sign. Their quiches are delicious too!
Normally the breads at this bakery are very good, but customers should be able to provide criticism to the owner & employees of the business if the product(s) are not up to their normal standard if issues arise without being treated with disrespect & unreasonable behaviour. I mentioned on one occasion that the baguette bread was badly burned & was charred black. Obviously, this is not normal. The feedback I gave should have been received properly & there should not have been such a bad experience reporting this. The owner of the bakery was very close to asking me to leave the shop simply because I mentioned all of this. Customers are allowed to voice their concerns about products without fear that a conflict will occur. It was a very big effort for them to provide me with a normal bread after complaining about the chard lacked baguettes that were available in the self-service area.
The owner of this business is extremely arrogant. We buy 6 coffees & 6 muffins a day. My employee wanted to buy a pack of paper towels because he had a spill, but the owner said it would be fine to buy the paper towels.Listen, Champion, we're buying 6 coffees & 6 muffins. I'll give you & your employees your paycheck. You need to have some judgment, Grandma.
They do a kimchi focaccia that literally changed my life.
The first time I tried it, I had a full-on Ratatouille-style flashback. Ever since then, I've been hooked. The problem is they only make it on certain days, & it sells out almost immediately. You have to be at the right place at the right time to get one. I've definitely driven by at 2 or 3 PM knowing they've probably sold out… but still hoping, just in case, that there's one left. That's how good it is.
La Meunerie, please… at least give me the recipe so I can provide a consistent supply of kimchi focaccia for myself. I can't keep living like this. Thanks.
Les produits sont excellents, en particulier, les pains. Voté meilleure baguette en ville! Mais plus de places assises. Quoique ce n'est pas nécessairement la vocation de l'endroit .

The sourdough & focaccia were delicious. We also got cinnamon rolls, quiche & two lattes, the guy who helped us to choose was patient & attentive & then we were greeted with a big smile from the kind lady who served us the coffee. An amazing experience 🥰
