Fresh bakery with some coffee drinks. Had the pistachio croissant & chocolatine (pain au chocolat), delectable. They can toast them for you before you go. Service is great! No proper seating, just 3 stools by the window if you need to sit. Select your own baked goods & pay at the register or online (there's instructions). Drinks are dispensed in the middle island & you can select on a tablet what you want, add syrups, & pay at the register.
No cash till. Also no restroom.
Staff was very helpful & the pastries were delicious! It was very close to my hotel so it was great to grab something quick to take back on mornings I wanted a cheap breakfast. Cute. I do wish there was seating but I think it's not that kind of place.
(USED TO BE) my favourite place for french pastries in montreal! the chocolatine is my go-to, though I've had the apricot tart & the berry clafoutis before & they were delicious too. I love how friendly the staff are & I love playing their piano in the seating area on the second floor :)
Edit: SAD SAD place after the renovations. It has been turned into a soulless capitalist husk of its former self. Shame on you, founders of Mamie Clafoutis Joseph Sabatier & Nicolas Delourmel + the tech company Leav, for selling the bakery's charm & humanity in favour of profit & efficiency. You've lost a loyal customer.
Stopped by this neat place for some coffee because of a strawberries pie sign :) it turned out to be a fresh bakery with coffee, fresh pastries, pies & a few other sweet things. Great staff, very helpful & friendly. Both our cold & hot coffees were good, so we're the pastries. It's not a cafe per se, it has no proper seating, but I'd come back for the bread, it looks really good!
Self-checkout 2025: interesting concept. Liked my blueberry tart & my friend's almond chocolatine.
Takeout 2020: Pleasant service, good selection of delicious pastries
Dine in 2023: they have a seating area upstairs I never noticed before that's actually cute. Really should advertise it more. Had the quiche lorraine & the blue cheese walnut baguette which were delicious with a chai latte. My friend's tuna quiche wasn't the best though.
i can't stomach giving this bakery less than 2 stars, because it once held a special place in my heart. I was so excited to see what the renovation would be, especially after seeing the concept art of tables & chairs & a cafe-esque setup, i thought that FIANLLY there would be a good bakery to sit at & read & have a couple pastries at in the neighborhood (seriously, you were the best pastries around!) & after so many months i have been absolutely gutted by just how soulless my favourite bakery now is. looking over the reviews, i don't have much to add to what several others have said. the sanitized & ultramodern look are a complete turn off from the vibrant place it was, & even the interesting ideas in the concept art. what happened? i used to come here to grab a coffee before work. sometimes, there was a line & i got anxious thinking my order of one coffee wouldn't be quick enough because of the line. i understand part of the design has been to allow people in my situation to speed through. well, i can say confidently i would give anything to wait in that line again. this empty & depressing place (i'm sorry, the decor is cute but it is a far cry from the homey-ness of the old place) is not worth the streamlining. i understand from the other replies that the business needed a redesign. & i was on board! i was looking forward to it. but this... this was plain murder. i have no interest in trying to pay with my phone. i don't want to use what looks like the same machine as they have in a 7/11 to make coffee. hell, just having a couple carafes of drip would be better than a glorified kurig. the single employee who was there kind of awkwardly staring at me screamed volumes that no one quite knows what the flow is supposed to be here. no shame to him, if i were in his shoes i would avoid contact with customers too! rather, the design of this place being self-serve means employees will feel it is a hassle to help people. because customer service is always a hassle (i work in the field), but normally it is necessary & the ice is easily broken. not here. it's cold, there's no seating, & honestly, i want to cry because of the beautiful bakery my neighborhood has lost. i'm sorry you felt that this was necessary. i don't know your business. i can only hope that other bakeries do not follow on in your footsteps. this... sucks. :(
I used to really love it. The large upstairs seating area was a major draw. It looks great after the remodel (a bit sleek for my preference but really cohesive) but the experience is not the same, & for new customers it is not straightforward. The food still great, but now it's more like a place to pick something up from & go rather than a place to stop by with friends.
great for a quick snack & the upstairs seating is very cozy & quiet. great for relaxing with a book or getting work done.
Mamie Clafoutis serves an impressive array of pastries, of which the o mon dieu (chocolate croissant), chausson aux pommes, & the classic butter croissant remain our top choices when in Montreal. Their loft style boulangerie allows patrons to enjoy a separate seating space upstairs (plus there's a nicely tuned piano too). 4/5 as the chocolate almond croissant, latte, & flat white fell...flat for us. Chocolate almond croissant hardly had any chocolate, & the espresso drinks were a little bland for us. Otherwise, will be back for the other pastries next time we're in town.
Sweet cafe! Came here for a pastry & coffee on Saturday morning & enjoyed the chill vibes of the semi-hidden seating area. The staff were so friendly & the pastries we had were good. I was a bit sad to see only two quite boring vegan options but at least I got something. The oat milk they use didn't really froth properly so my cappuccino could have been better but the coffee tasted good so I wasn't mad about it. Extra points for being open really early in the morning so you could come by on the way to work
