Self-checkout 2025: interesting concept. Liked my blueberry tart & my friend's almond chocolatine.
Takeout 2020: Pleasant service, good selection of delicious pastries
Dine in 2023: they have a seating area upstairs I never noticed before that's actually cute. Really should advertise it more. Had the quiche lorraine & the blue cheese walnut baguette which were delicious with a chai latte. My friend's tuna quiche wasn't the best though.
I've been to other Mamie Clafoutis locations, but this one stands out for its cool concept & design. The pastries are just as good as elsewhere-but the kouign-amann here? Wow. Easily the best bite of pastry I've ever had.
Rich, buttery, with a crispy exterior & pillowy laminated layers, with roasted candied hazelnuts added in that took it completely over the top. Absolute must-try.
Unique pastries, custards & baked goods are a hallmark of this restaurant! The self-serve concept could definitely feel a bit impersonal, however the staff are very friendly & always happy to help with your order. You can warm up your breads on-site as well - the breads are baked fresh. The espresso drinks aren't bad either. Worth stopping by to try if you're in the area!
The staff was friendly & the pastries are good. Our visit was disappointing because we were expecting tables & space to eat indoors. There are several boxed sandwiches & desserts too but we were expecting a fresher feel all around.
Mesmerizing bakery 🤩
Amazing sourdough, very fine pastries & good food/produce.
Excellent service & beautiful ambiance
i can't stomach giving this bakery less than 2 stars, because it once held a special place in my heart. I was so excited to see what the renovation would be, especially after seeing the concept art of tables & chairs & a cafe-esque setup, i thought that FIANLLY there would be a good bakery to sit at & read & have a couple pastries at in the neighborhood (seriously, you were the best pastries around!) & after so many months i have been absolutely gutted by just how soulless my favourite bakery now is. looking over the reviews, i don't have much to add to what several others have said. the sanitized & ultramodern look are a complete turn off from the vibrant place it was, & even the interesting ideas in the concept art. what happened? i used to come here to grab a coffee before work. sometimes, there was a line & i got anxious thinking my order of one coffee wouldn't be quick enough because of the line. i understand part of the design has been to allow people in my situation to speed through. well, i can say confidently i would give anything to wait in that line again. this empty & depressing place (i'm sorry, the decor is cute but it is a far cry from the homey-ness of the old place) is not worth the streamlining. i understand from the other replies that the business needed a redesign. & i was on board! i was looking forward to it. but this... this was plain murder. i have no interest in trying to pay with my phone. i don't want to use what looks like the same machine as they have in a 7/11 to make coffee. hell, just having a couple carafes of drip would be better than a glorified kurig. the single employee who was there kind of awkwardly staring at me screamed volumes that no one quite knows what the flow is supposed to be here. no shame to him, if i were in his shoes i would avoid contact with customers too! rather, the design of this place being self-serve means employees will feel it is a hassle to help people. because customer service is always a hassle (i work in the field), but normally it is necessary & the ice is easily broken. not here. it's cold, there's no seating, & honestly, i want to cry because of the beautiful bakery my neighborhood has lost. i'm sorry you felt that this was necessary. i don't know your business. i can only hope that other bakeries do not follow on in your footsteps. this... sucks. :(
Whenever we're in Montreal, Mamie Clafoutis is a staple stop for us to pick up a selection of delicious pastries to bring home to BC. Their pastries are consistently high-quality & incredibly flavorful, with each bite capturing the authentic taste of French baking. The standout items include their croissants, which are perfectly flaky & buttery, along with unique offerings like pistachio & almond croissants. What truly sets this place apart, beyond the excellent pastries, is the customer service. The staff are always warm, helpful, & make the experience even better by assisting with selections & packaging up everything carefully for travel. They make you feel welcome, & you can tell they really care about their customers' experience. Mamie Clafoutis is truly a gem in Montreal for anyone who loves top-notch pastries & wonderful service. Highly recommend stopping by!
Went into the newly renovated store & it was an amazing experience. Store is super modern, filled with helpful smiling employees, & lovely delicious pastries. Had the best cinnamon roll of my life & some gorgeous milk bread. The experience was smooth & prices are great for the amazing quality. Young female employee with brown hair was exceptionally helpful & kind. Will definitely revisit & encourage all to do the same so they can try delectable baked goods in an exceptional atmosphere. Bakery of the FUTURE!!!
As someone who enjoys sweets, these pastries are some of the best you'll find. Their new concept is quite refreshing as well. I really enjoy the ability to decide how I want to shop, whether that's on my own or with their lovely staff.
I love the hot choco & the pastries from this store. Too bad i won't be able to buy it from this place again when i come back since it'll be under a renovation. Do u guys have the same store in a different place?
My favourite bakery, great variety of bread & pastries. Closing in two weeks for major overhaul.
Mamie Clafoutis serves an impressive array of pastries, of which the o mon dieu (chocolate croissant), chausson aux pommes, & the classic butter croissant remain our top choices when in Montreal. Their loft style boulangerie allows patrons to enjoy a separate seating space upstairs (plus there's a nicely tuned piano too). 4/5 as the chocolate almond croissant, latte, & flat white fell...flat for us. Chocolate almond croissant hardly had any chocolate, & the espresso drinks were a little bland for us. Otherwise, will be back for the other pastries next time we're in town.
Best pastries in Canada & it is not close also english accommodating
my favourite place for french pastries in montreal! the chocolatine is my go-to, though I've had the apricot tart & the berry clafoutis before & they were delicious too. I love how friendly the staff are & I love playing their piano in the seating area on the second floor :)
Sweet cafe! Came here for a pastry & coffee on Saturday morning & enjoyed the chill vibes of the semi-hidden seating area. The staff were so friendly & the pastries we had were good. I was a bit sad to see only two quite boring vegan options but at least I got something. The oat milk they use didn't really froth properly so my cappuccino could have been better but the coffee tasted good so I wasn't mad about it. Extra points for being open really early in the morning so you could come by on the way to work
Great place for taking out pastries & coffee. Pastries were perfect.
Fantastic coffee & pastries that are out of this world. Top notch service as well! A must visit in Montreal!
