I ordered the coconut crusted salmon for lunch with vegetables. The plate literally had two pieces of zucchini on it with a generous piece of salmon that was bland. My friend ordered vegetable soup & was disappointed to see it was a bowl of puree. Patio is lovely to sit but our food was not impressive.
We were in town for a family event, dined at Maggie Oakes in Old Montreal. Service was impeccable, food was 4 / 5. We enjoyed roasted vegetable soup, salmon tatare, charcuterie Québécois, Filet Mignon, aged Cote de Boeuf for 2. Thank you!
A short walk from our hotel, we chose Maggie Oates because another review mentioned it had a kids menu. Turns out that was limited but it had the essential - chicken tenders & French fries. The salmon was excellent as well as the shrimp cocktail. The service was outstanding.
Really great food, we enjoyed the salmon, filet mignon, shrimp cocktail & crispy shrimp remoulade, & the tataki was amazing, a real work of food art! The staff was a bit jammed the night we were there, but they poured me extra wine to make up for it, & we didn't mind.
Tabla de quesos, ostras, pasta con trufa, botella de vino recomendadísimo para cenar. El plato de salmón es muy casual, creería que es mejor que prueben otros platos.
very small portions for the price - & i thought the roasted vegetables which accompanied my filet mignon lacked pizazz- the potatoes, despite being cooked with duck confit, were not crispy.....the carrots mushy. on the other hand, the salmon tartare was tasty & gf bread was available for spreading. i am celiac & found the service attentive to my concerns & knowledgeable about cross contamination. gf options for dessert were available, although i didn't sample these. would i go again? if someone else were paying, yes.
We decided to have breakfast at M.O on the second day of our trip to Montreal, Qb. We definitely enjoyed our stay, in particular the Maggie Oakes. Jeremy was very kind & attentive to our order, we had Salmon & eggs benedict, fruits, Croissant & the best Coffee ever, everything was yummy. Jeremy is definitely the best waiter we've ever met, thank you once more! The Chef came to bring our meal, we were just delighted about that. So we decided to come back for dinner, which was also awesome.That was a very good experience indeed!
This is my first review ever. We had the best time. Staff was amazing. We had the salmon tartare & the beef tartare for apps...outstanding. I have the filet mignon & my husband had the Kansas cut...we could not describe the taste of the 45 day aged beef adequately... but absolutely delicious. Highly recommend. Will do this again when in Montreal.
