But it seems the overall experience is less pleasant. My wife wanted a dessert, only reason we booked this place. But they run out of it, on a Saturday at 9pm. Also, portions are smaller & prices higher. & service was just ok when it used to be very good. A disappointment.
Keep some room for a nice desserts.
My quail was undercooked with visible traces of blood near the bone, server acknowledged it & nothing to be done. Service was very slow but dessert was good
The steak frites was perfect & the dessert a fever dream: the eye-catching île flottante is so satisfying to break open & probably best shared between at least three people...
I came here on a Monday night for dinner. I had a reservation & it was quite busy. The host runs a very tight & organized ship. The amount of people who walked in without reservations & the number of phone calls was endless. Make sure to make a reservation, many people without were told to come back 45 minutes-1 hour later. I sat at the bar. The stools are nice but do not move so you're sitting pretty close to your fellow diners. For my meal I had a white wine, Sanserre to drink. I ordered the Bone Marrow, Croque Monsieur & maple syrup Profiteroles. Marrow was good, Croque was comforting & fries crunchy. I think the Profiteroles were my favourite item. The bar staff were both kind, friendly, attentive (but not overly) & had recommendations when asked. As expected they were also all able to speak French & English. The establishment is very tight space wise & your very close to other diners. Additionally, I know they were busy but before I even took my last bite of my dessert, my bill was quickly slapped in front of me. So I guess that was the Express part of my experience. 🤷🏻♀️
Great experience overall! Service is top notch. Never enjoyed the dining experience this much. Portion size is good, food was awesome! Great espresso & dessert. Everything was just perfect! Would definitely come back!
It was good but not great, bone marrow was okay, veal kidney was good, dessert was okay
Managed to snag a couple of spots at the bar for Saturday lunch. Had a pisco sour which was really good. They give you some baguette with butter & Mustard & house made Pickles.. we ordered the poached salmon & the house made ravioli. Both were exquisite. Really amazing flavors, both dishes were really really good. We used the bread to mop up all the sauce. It was so good! We got the lemon tart & chocolate ganache tart for dessert & left absolutely stuffed & happy. Would 100% recommend.
The food was on point, which was to be expected. Great menu, nice presentation. The atmosphere was nice too, classic Montreal shotgun style eatery. The service fell short for us though. I think there was a shift change shortly after we arrived which caused a bit of a rough dining experience. We had to ask for water multiple times. There were long waits between courses, our drinks were taken as soon as we finished them but we were never able to order a second round, we were brought dessert menus twice. we could tell no one was really dedicated to our table. Our original server left shortly after taking our order without informing us, after that it seemed that we were split between two new servers that had just arrived. Kind of a let down given the reputation & price paid.
The duck is really good especially with the sweet potato & sauce underneath the duck. Surprising combination. The dessert is the must try!!! If you are a sweet tooth you should order this dessert
Great fun night out with friends. If you're looking for no frills, decent wine, decent food, decent price, & relaxing night out - this is it. The vibe is fresh & lively. If you can manage your way to dessert, the lime sorbet is recommended.
This place is lovely that it is open late. The host was really personable. When we got seated at the bar, the bartender who was our waiter, was not as personable my dish, which was the quail was excellent. My girl didn't enjoy the fish wrapped in iberico ham as much. We had the rum cake for dessert which was super rum flavored & alcohol forward.
Bewildered as to why this place gets the hype that it does.
Started with Fish Soup. It was a tomato puree with maybe fish blended into it? There was fish flavor, but at close to $20, it would have been nice to see actual chunks of fish in it & a much better flavor.
The baguette served tasted of poor quality or it was just old. Butter was hard. No bread plate so you just get the table full of crumbs.
I ordered the housemade ravioli, which was bland. I could tell that the ingredients were legit, but there was no flavor...just a concentrated meat flavor. Luckily there was a pepper grinder on the table. How about some tarragon? Or just even parsley? This dish was almost $30 as was forgettable.
Service was painfully slow, so we skipped dessert & got out of there. I have no idea why this place is highly recommended. Save yourself the disappointment & go anywhere else. The prices vs quality/flavor as not in your favor.

This restaurant has fantastic reviews & word-of-mouth & I have been looking forward to visiting it for a long time. When I called this evening to see if they had space, they were able to squeeze us in early, which I really appreciated!
Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. If you are looking for fine dining, this is not it. The atmosphere was severely lacking - it was loud, the phone was ringing non-stop, kids were screaming, & there was no music at all to try & set the mood. The food was average & not at all adjusted to the season. I ordered the chanterelle ragout to start, but one or two of the mushrooms had not been cleaned properly, resulting in a few grains of crunchy sand. The 'homemade ravioli' was thin, delicate, & stuffed with a mushrooms-ricotta mixture; unfortunately, it was topped with rich caramelized mushrooms & served in a heavy, cloyingly sticky veal sauce which was not at all what I expected on a hot July evening. I picked at a few french fries which tasted like they had been fried in old oil. We left without dessert. The details feel overlooked here (cheap paper napkins & table covers, no music, etc.).
As I mentioned, I have heard so many great things about this restaurant. Based on that alone I would be willing to give it another try. It seems like it could be a fun brunch spot, so I might try that sometime. I will say that the staff was polite & attentive & the location is good.
