french(57) tartare(44) brunch(44) recommend(42) dessert(41) wine(41) steak(39) pain(32) duck(31) sauce(26) beef(26) salmon(26)We always have a memorable meal at Lemeac. Whether it is brunch, or dinner, the service is excellent, the food prepared as you ask for it. I will come back every time I come to Montreal.
Montreal's dining scene is so competitive that great food alone no longer cuts it, & Lemeac is a perfect example of where that equation breaks down.
The food? Genuinely excellent. Michelin-worthy, no argument there. But the service? It felt like a glorified casse-croûte.
It started at the door, where the hostess couldn't acknowledge us for a full two minutes eyes glued to a screen. We were then seated & left completely unattended for over 15 minutes. When we finally flagged someone down to ask if we had a server, she arrived & opened with'Prêt à commander?' - no greeting, no introduction, no offer of drinks or a mention of specials. Just: ready to order?
When I expressed surprise & asked about beverages & specials, she flipped open the menu to the daily pâté insert & said flatly,'Just what's there.' No warmth. No hospitality. Nothing.
Looking around the room, I noticed a very specific - & aging - demographic. & honestly, it made sense. A younger crowd won't tolerate this. In a city with this much culinary talent & this many options, good food paired with indifferent service is a business model with an expiry date.
A Michelin star deserves Michelin-level hospitality. Until then, this one's a hard sell.
Never disappoints from the quality, flavors & ambiance, for me it's always a win to go there. It transports you to Paris. Perfect spot for a brunch with the family or the girls. Fresh & light. Worth the stop!
It's a solid brasserie that live up to it's reputation. I think it's a bit on the expensive side but the menu is solid & the staff was friendly.
It was a bit noisier than I expected but it could have been just the specific groups of people around us. We happen to be next to what I would call a loud'gros colon' who would have been happier at St-Hubert. Those things you can't control but the tight setup of some tables make it a roll of the dice I guess.
We went as a couple but it would be fun for a double date or a small group.
The appetizer are a bit more expensive than I'm used to but they are also decent size, so it even out. We are not big eater, so we felt like we could have got away we two appetizer each, or just a shared appetizer & a main dish each.
Ended up at around 300$ for two appetizer, two main, a shared dessert & a bottle of wine.
I really liked it from the time I set foot in! I got my perfect table & service was prompt & professional. I was taking myself out for lunch. Was going to go across the street when I spotted THE table I wanted on the patio. Nice to see it is a Michelin recommended so I was prepared for the worst as far as money goes. I went with'la carte du jour' & had a sudden rage for moules frites à la Leméac! Simon my waiter was attractive, oups I meant attentive, offered me a choice of water & asked if I wanted some bread. Let's talk about it, it was very well cooked & fresh, but was at room temperature, in my opinion it should of come at least a bit warm...Then the rest followed, a girl arrived with a ton of Moules, tasty, big & the portion was almost too big but I hate everything, I did not hear a word of what she told me as the room was full & loud. I washed it down with a second glass of wine. Fries where perfection so as the home made mayonnaise. The wine selection was overwhelming. Pages & pages of for all taste & purses. The immense wine by the glass selection is impressive as well. So I had a nice chilled Sauvignon Blanc DesCombes plus a second one! It is a definitely a goer. At 64$ for a large Moule Frites & 2 glasses of Sauvignon, it's a steal. À bientôt!
One of the best restaurants in Montreal , food is beyond delicious & service is exceptional. The atmosphere & patio are amazing.
the food is really good & the price is ok , the place is cosy & the waitress was nice to us , would recommend it
I went there with friends for a birthday dinner & the food was great. The waiter gave us great recommendations. L'escargot there is unique as it is made with mushrooms & basil sauce for main I would recommend the tartare or boudin noire. The pain perdu was amazing
Really beautiful & cossy feel, staff are very welcoming & attentive. Great food
We drove from Toronto & had lunch at this restaurant-it was an amazing experience. We ordered a bottle of Rayas white, which happened to be the last one they had, & it was absolutely unbelievable.
The food was delicious, & their wine selection is outstanding. It's definitely a place worth visiting again.
Have been here multiple times & love it every time! The service is always wonderful & of course, the food is great. I go for the moules & frites every time (the portion is massive) & you cannot leave without trying the pain perdu for dessert.
WOW. Cant believe i waited so long to go. I went for a birthday celebration so we were a big group, our waiter Jonathan was the sweetest. Tellement patient & à l'ecoute.
The portions are huge, the ambiance is posh, the service is great. Coup de coeur pour la carte des desserts très variee. Le sticky toffee cake etait chef's kiss
This place is very nice & the service was good, however the Risotto was very disappointing, it was missing flavor & was very flat. The beef tartare was great & also the Onglet with fries. We also ordered the snow crab legs , it was fine but nothing crazy. *Note for the Restaurant: Your card machine has the minimum option for Tips set at 18% (That's not legal) please be respectful of your costumers, the service is great, people will most likely give you 18% without pushing it.*
This place has seriously gone downhill. We stood by the entrance for ten minutes, completely ignored by passing staff. Not even a quick'good evening, someone will be with you.'
When we were finally seated, the waiter didn't bother offering to take our coats - just pointed across the room & said,'you can hang your coats over there.'
From there, things only got worse: food took 1.5 hours to arrive, & when it finally did, it wasn't worth the wait.
Sadly just disappointing.
Usually I dont go to places like these but I took a chance & was impresses. I liked this place immediately. The ambiance was nice & the best part was the food. So yummy!
