Our final meal in Montréal turned out to be a highlight. After a week of indulging in the best cuisine across Québec City & Montréal, we returned to duck confit before heading to the airport. This time at Leméac, chosen for its excellent reputation.

The dish was exceptional: crisp skin, tender & flavorful meat, surpassing the version I enjoyed in Québec. Our server, I believe her name was Serena, was attentive, & welcoming. We sat on the terrace, where the atmosphere was calm & charming, a lovely setting for French cuisine.

Although we couldn't linger as long as we wished due to our flight, the experience was memorable. Leméac is a place I would recommend to anyone seeking refined French dining in Montréal.

( Parisian style French brasserie. Food is classic French rather than experimental: oysters, salmon tartare, smoked salmon, escargots, mushroom ravioli, mussels & fries, duck confit, steak frites & foie gras. The wine list is a major strength, particularly Burgundy, Rhône & northern Italy. Montreal Classic for lunch/ brunch/ or a long summer meal on the terrace. The vibe is elegant but relaxed: white-tablecloth-ish French bistro energy, a lively dining room & a beautiful four-season terrace. Went for brunch, have great options for savoury & sweet. Loved the salmon truffle tartare & the Norwegian platter, & the blood pudding. Limited cocktails. Nice French ambiance & outdoor terrace.

Leméac is a great spot for a French-style meal in Outremont. The food was very good, & the duck & pasta dishes we had were both nicely done. The service was attentive & professional, & the atmosphere had that lively, classic bistro feel. It can get a little noisy & pricey, but overall it was a really enjoyable Valentine's Day lunch & I'd definitely come back.

From the moment we arrived & settled onto the lovely patio, cooled by a welcome summer breeze, we knew we were in for a great experience.

We started with apéritifs Pineau des Charentes & Armagnac liquor before enjoying a beautifully executed French meal that highlights the best of Québec's seasonal ingredients. Every dish was elegant (mushroom ravioli, goat cheese, & the duck confit), flavourful, & thoughtfully prepared.

The hanger steak frites was a standout & easily one of the best we have had in a long time.

To finish, the modern take on pavlova with fresh local berries was light, refreshing, & perfectly balanced.

What truly elevated the experience was the service. Every member of the team was exceptionally professional, knowledgeable, attentive, & genuinely welcoming. Their attention to detail made us feel well cared for from start to finish.

The restaurant has the ambiance & elegance of a Michelin-starred establishment, but unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the setting. The duck breast had an unpleasant aftertaste that I couldn't get past, & the steak, while decent, wasn't any better than what you would find at many good steakhouses. On the other hand, the appetizers were excellent & easily the highlight of the meal.

The service was wonderful, & the staff were warm, attentive, & genuinely welcoming. My only other complaint was the seating arrangement. The tables were placed so close together that I could hear every word of the conversation at the next table, which unfortunately took away from the experience-especially since the diners beside us were loudly discussing Trump throughout the meal.

At this price point I expected a whole lot more. When we arrived it wasn't very busy & yet we were not greeted by a hostess or anyone for about five minutes. Staff was walking right past us & didn't even acknowledge us waiting to be seated. Finally we got sat at what had to be the smallest table in the restaurant. Even the salt & pepper shakers could barely fit on the table. I was concerned things were going to fall off. This was our anniversary dinner so I would have liked at least a bit of privacy.

We order the crusted goat cheese & smoked herring for appetizers. The goat cheese & the herring were great & delicious, however the salad that came with both tasted quite funny. Almost as if the greens were spoiling or not washed at all.

My wife had the grilled hanger steak & I had the roasted duck breast. The duck was great. The broth & dumplings were great too. The salad was just ok. Nothing special just some sautéed bok choy & ribboned carrots.

The steak was disappointing. We had told the server at least four times we wanted medium rare. It seemed like she didn't understand. When the steak came I was pretty shocked. It was barely rare. Almost blue rare in the thicker part. I'm honestly surprised my wife ate it. The fries were nothing special & very under seasoned.

Chocolate cake banana popcorn dessert was pretty good. I didn't enjoy the caramel popcorn in it but the rest was wonderful. My wife did enjoy the popcorn though.

Overall for this price point, I expected a LOT more. Maybe a Tuesday evening made a difference but I was pretty disappointed.

Lemeac is one of those places that makes you wish you had a bigger stomach.

We came on a Sunday, recommended for brunch - but after looking over the lunch menu, we made the switch. No regrets.

We started with the escargot & a half portion of the mushroom ravioli. The escargot isn't served traditionally, & honestly that works in its favour. Mushrooms, pasta, & tomatoes in a basil foam - deeply flavourful & completely out of this world. The mushroom ravioli arrived in a rich demi-glace with pine nuts. Bold, indulgent, the kind of starter that already makes the meal.

For mains, the confit duck leg was cooked to perfection. Served with potatoes & salad - but it's that skin that stays with you. Cracked perfectly. The kind of detail that separates a good kitchen from a great one.

The mussels & fries were equally exceptional. A generous bowl with white wine, tomatoes, dill, & parsley. The mussels were tender - not the least bit rubbery, which is rarer than it should be. The fries held their own alongside them.

We didn't make it to dessert. We couldn't finish our mains. That's not a complaint - that's a reason to come back. & we will. Dinner next time.

This is my favourite restaurant in Montreal. The service is always phenomenal & the food never misses. I highly recommend the mussels , duck confit & the escargot's. 10/10 every time !

Very good French restaurant with crab cake with seaweed vegetables & tomatoes, the fish with vegetables, cheese with seaweed , calamari , pig blood with mashed potatoes & cooked potatoes!!!!!! We had two main courses lamb chops with mashed potatoes & green beans & duck sauce pasta with seaweed & fresh cheese !!!!!!!!!
