Smaller plates than before, Wine by the glass very disappointing & very lacklustre service. This used to be in my top three restaurants. I'll take a break & revisit one day... but honestly feel the bang for buck is no longer here. This restaurant is coasting too easily imo. Nearly no air conditioning on the bar side & very slow staggered service.
I visited while on a work trip & sat at the bar. The bartender was excellent! The service in general was great, & it was such a cute environment. The wine list is unique & the dishes I tried were really good, especially the rabbit sausage. Perfect place to share small plates with friends.
Very cute & lively atmosphere. The wine selection was fun & funky, the food was fresh & delicious, & the staff were delightful. Will definitely be back next time we visit Montreal!
Good food & good service but there is always place to improve. Disappointed that the wine selection by the glass was really really bad. By bottle there were some known good wines but by glass, although not cheap...poor selection. If I understand correctly their selection changes, but maybe the criteria is to get rid of bottles that don't sell ? Sell them by the glass ? So the " less interesting "ones ? No idea, but really poor bottles from France (2) , Argentina & Quebec, so four choices. Verdict : give it a try.
Service was great, Wine list wasn't as extensive as we'd like, food was good but not spectacular. Carrots, ham & cheese were the highlights.
Better than excellent service. Unique wine selection. Outstanding food. Reasonable prices.
We went there yesterday & the vibe was amazing! The waiter was super helpful to choose the dishes & drinks. Food was quite nice & they have great selection of wines🍷
It's not a trip to mtl without visiting Vin Papillon! Very knowledgeable servers, food is always 10/10, orange wine is a MUST. Always excited to go back!
Great wine selection & delicious food. Exactly what you would expect from a high quality wine bar/resto in Montreal. A great selection of small dishes to share as well, it does get busy during prime dinner hours. We did feel a bit rushed at the end of the dinner, as the reservation was already there, but it is to be expected at a busy popular spot.
Delicious tapas style menu.
Everything tasted amazing, I particularly enjoyed the anchovie bread with compound herb butter.
The service was quick & attentive & everything felt very fresh.
There were a lot of interesting wine bottles options & the server did a great job with her recommendations.
I'd go back anytime
An interesting restaurant! A superb menu & wine list. The atmosphere is intriguing & the service top notch.
The food was very good but extremely salty. So much so, some of the dishes lack the taste of the product because of the high sodium content.
Great food & wine with a relaxed vibe. We enjoyed the small sharing plates made with high quality ingredients. Great wine selection & excellent sommelier. We just described the types of wines we like & they brought out a few options for us.
This place is expensive so expect to spend but the service, ambiance, & wine are of the best quality. So happy I was finally able to come here.

Le Vin Papillon is a little secret everyone wants to know about. We got in right before the massive rush & had a great time. The place is small & dark but cozy. Staff is smart & the cheese & wine was perfect.

UNPLEASANT experience at Le Vin Papillon (Notre-Dame W., Montreal). On May 3rd 2014, I brought my spouse to Le Vin Papillon for her birthday. Unfortunately, the main souvenir that will be is that of the INAPPROPRIATE behavior on the part of, the manager, who asked us to leave our table after having paid (175$) & « invites » us to go to the crowded vestibule to finish our last mouthful of wine. This is respectful conduct you just do not do. Period. LVP’s website mentions « first come first serve ». It should also mention « Once you pay, Clear off ! ». One thing’s sure, we will not set foot again there.

Very disappointed! This restaurant is way over rated just because it belongs to owners of Joe beef so we thought it should be good. We went there during the week hoping to get a table fairly quick ( there is no reservation). No body acknowledged for 10-15 minutes. Then we were told that it would take up to 30 minutes to get a table. Since the restaurant was busy, we thought it might be worth waiting. It took 1Hour 15 minutes! While standing right at the entrance, we decided to order red wine & make our waiting less painful. We were offered 3 types of red wine without any menu to know the make & the year or the price. We ordered pinot noir, very average. Later when we paid the bill we realized that very average pinot noir was 16$ per glass. The staff were very young & inexperienced. The food was tapas style. We ordered Rapini salad, very salty, Guinea Fowl thigh very plain presentation ( just a thigh & liquid sauce on top of it) salty again & a cauliflower dish wayyyy too citrusy.
Don't recommend to anyone who cares about good wine, good food & good service.
