Stopped in on a busy Saturday night before dinner at one of their sister locations a few doors down. They created some seats at the bar for the two of us. Service was FANTASTIC. Well oiled machine, even with larger party on the outdoor patio. Excellent recommendation for the wine & a small starter (ham & cheese). Consistently check in on to make sure all was good. Post Script: On way back home after dinner, we walked by & the same waitress recognized us, asked us how our meal was at other restaurant. Highly recommend.
Definitely make a reservation as this place is extremely busy. Their plates are small so for two people its recommended to order about 5-6 dishes which will leave you quite full so plan accordingly for dessert as you must have dessert. We ordered the petite grande aioli, crudo, jambon, boeuf, scallops, & the maiitake for our mains. For dessert, we ordered the icecream sandwich carrot cake which was delicious!!! Highlights were: crudo, jambon & the carrot cake. Would return & highly recommend it!
The first fancy Montreal restaurant of our trip. We made a reservation here for 5:15pm on a Friday night & got situated outside, which had a lovely decor & view. We ordered two servings of the sourdough, mushrooms, potatoes, aioli royal, asparagus, beef kebab, & pork chop, along with some assorted wines & cocktails. Everything was delicious, the service was incredible, & I left immensely satisfied. Would definitely recommend if you're in Montreal.
Came here with a friend for dinner recently & split several plates, we did not order any alcohol (this is reflected in the bill price per person). We started with the asparagus - it was super fresh but the bread crumbs were quite bland; the ham & Parmesan (excellent but would recommend perhaps ordering bread to go with it); & the radishes (one of their specials) - these came with a scone & herb butter, which were all quite good). We also had the chicken sausages (a special) & the mushrooms (regular menu). Both were very good but the mushrooms do not really given summer - would not necessarily recommend for a hot day. We tried two desserts, the labneh & rhubarb cake. Both very good, labneh was nice & tangy, rhubarb cake had lovely textures but I would have wanted the rhubarb flavor to stand out more. We could definitely have ordered fewer plates & still had enough food. The terrace in the back where we sat was also very nice.
Our group ordered quite a few dishes to share, & every single one was a hit. I especially appreciated how many fresh options were available. When you're traveling, it can be difficult to find food that is both healthy & genuinely delicious, but this restaurant managed to do both perfectly.
I also have to give credit to the staff. My dad & brother leaned a little too hard into the'rude American' stereotype. Despite that, our server remained patient, professional, & attentive throughout the meal. If they happen to read this review, thank you for handling us with such grace!
The food was outstanding from start to finish. My personal favorites were the beet salad, which was as beautiful as it was delicious, & the rhubarb almond tart for dessert. I'm still thinking about both.
I would absolutely recommend this restaurant & would happily return the next time I'm in the area.
The physical restaurant is cozy & not overly packed. The outdoor terrace is very casual with nice gas fire heaters & a solid roof that covers it, but our table & several others had benches with no back support (ouch). A decent view of the neighboring track/sports field. Reserved & indicated it was for a special occasion. Was no mention of it/acknowledgement from the staff which was too bad as we were celebrating a friend's engagement. Waitress was not overly friendly & after we mentioned it was our first time dining there, did not really guide us through the standard menu or indicate if we were ordering too much or not enough. We ordered multiple dishes which she mentioned would come in courses but the choice of what was served & when was up to the staff. It came out in random orders & often one plate at a time which kept the table looking a bit empty/sad as it's geared for family-style servings of small portions. Most of our dishes were extremely tasty & I'd recommend them (especially the steak & calamari skewers). The carbonara bread & rhubarb tart were extremely boring & lacking flavor. The caramel sauce with the ice cream sandwich was amazing but the sandwich on its own was bland. All in all it was an OK experience but it didn't leave me wanting more. Maybe we just caught them on an off night but we were definitely hoping for more.
Went to a really cool restaurant in Montreal last night that was recommended by a colleague. Everything about the experience was great - the food, the wine, & especially the staff. You could tell right away that the people working there are passionate about what they do. Kelly at the bar was fantastic company & made the evening even better. Carter from the kitchen made an appearance to check in on us. Definitely a place I'd come back
