Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec H9X 1L5) - is a place where the dreams of gourmets & lovers of a refined atmosphere come true! ✨
Today I finally visited this, in my opinion, legendary restaurant. Before this, I had several unsuccessful attempts to reserve a table for the dates I wanted, but unfortunately, it was always fully booked. & today I succeeded. 😊
What can I say? A very, very beautiful interior, creating a feeling of luxury & coziness at the same time. Many paintings, beautiful furniture, truly interesting French music that perfectly complements the atmosphere. 🎶
The waiters are friendly, very hospitable, they know the menu inside & out & can perfectly pair drinks with any dish, making the choice even more enjoyable. 🍷
The food is magnificent, each dish is a work of art. The presentation truly deserves a separate compliment, & the flavors are simply fire! 🔥 Special thanks to the chef for their mastery. 👨?🍳
In short, I am very happy to have visited this restaurant, & I highly recommend it if you want to taste outstanding French cuisine & enjoy an unforgettable evening. 👍

We hadn't been in a couple of years although it was always a favourite. Glad to see the quality & service are still at 100%. These days it's not easy to find traditional French cuisine...everything is molecular this, gastronomic that... usually some celebrity chef-du-Jour showing off his cooking skills. But Le Surcouf remains true to its origins & purpose...outstanding traditional French cuisine. Sure, the flourishes & extra touches are there, but the backbone is wonderful taste sparing no expense in terrific ingredients. After all, where can you still get a whole sole Meunière, filleted & cleaned table-side. Or crepe suzettes flambeed before your eyes. Not that I mind creative cuisine, but it's always good to get back to the traditions that set the stage for everyone else. Le Surcouf is a West-Island gem that can compete with the best of downtown, & in a gorgeous setting. I needed smelling salts when I saw the bill, but it was worth it!View more
Pleasantly surprised by the choices in the menu, quality of food & very French dishes. Only reason not giving full 5 stars, welcome on arrival could be improved & the tuna tataki seemed not at its best but the rognon was quite goodView more
Very warm ambiance & professional service. By far one of the best restaurants in Montreal, featuring French cuisine using logically sourced produce. Reminds me of the restaurant at hotel Le Maréchal in Colmar, France.View more
Beautiful old home restored to act as a fine dining restaurant. No more than 8 tables per room allowing for a quiet but social atmosphere. Service is that of fine French dining. Celiac awareness is incredible with options & warm bread (such a treat). Prices are affordable, especially for service you are receiving. Every dish was delicious. The rib steak was a little tough. But it was an exception & not the usual outcome.View more
Nestled in the picturesque borough of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue on the West Island of Montreal, Le Surcouf is a gem that consistently delivers an exceptional dining experience. This French restaurant has been our go-to place for celebrating our anniversary for three years running, & it never fails to impress. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the Owner & Maître d'Hôtel, Dominique. Her charming & attentive nature added a personal touch to our evening, making us feel like cherished guests in her home. The service at Le Surcouf is impeccably timed, ensuring that each course is presented at the perfect moment, allowing us to savor every bite without feeling rushed. To start, my wife chose the "Crazy Salad," a delightful mix of fresh greens, vibrant vegetables, & a light, tangy dressing that awakened her palate. For her main course, she opted for the "Scallops with Leek Gratiné with Parmesan." The scallops were cooked to perfection, tender & flavorful, while the leek gratiné added a creamy, savory richness that complemented the dish beautifully. I began my meal with "Le Foie Gras," a luxurious appetizer that was decadently smooth & rich, paired with a delicate, slightly sweet accompaniment that balanced the flavors exquisitely. For my main course, I chose the "Veal Chop with Sautéed Mushrooms in a Cream Sauce." The veal chop was succulent & tender, with the sautéed mushrooms & cream sauce adding a depth of flavor that elevated the dish to a gastronomic delight. Every aspect of our meal at Le Surcouf was a testament to the restaurant's dedication to culinary excellence. The ambiance, enhanced by Dominique's engaging conversations, creates a welcoming & intimate atmosphere that makes each visit special. Le Surcouf is more than just a restaurant; it's a culinary haven where exceptional food, outstanding service, & a warm, inviting atmosphere come together to create unforgettable dining experiences. It's no wonder we've made it our anniversary tradition, & we look forward to many more delightful evenings at this exquisite French restaurant.View more
I've been to Le Surcouf a few times over the years, & it's always a great experience. The cozy atmosphere is perfect for an intimate meal, & the service is consistently excellent. The owner is very present, visiting tables & adding to the general atmosphere of refined bonhomie. What the menu lacks in variety, they more than make up for in quality & as a fan of French cuisine, I'm always impressed with the dishes. You really can't go wrong with any choice on the menu. This is real gem on the West Island, & must-try at least once.View more
This is for a pure Classic French experience & the service is extremely friendly.
We had great service & food. The atmosphere was a little drab but warm & cozy. I suggest the French onion soup & fillet mignon flambéView more
Traditional French food at its finest. It's such a treat to see the old school tried & true servings!
Great service & traditional French cuisine what more could you ask fo
Le Surcouf is our favourite restaurant. My husband says it reminds him of restaurants when we lived in London: Authentic French restaurants.
We always enjoy the food. My daughter has Celiac Disease & their menu is sensitive to gluten free food. Its her favourite restaurant too.
The wine list is extensive & well-priced. We had a wine at Le Surcouf from the vineyard where our son was on honeymoon. We also enjoy their Loire & South African wines.
We had not been to Le Surcouf, in probably more than 25 years.
Fantastic experience! Le Surcouf, is exactly what a good french restaurant should be.
Great food (one of our best meal ever) great atmosphere & excellent service.
We will be back for sure.View more
Le Surcouf is our favourite restaurant in the West Island of Montreal. Very quaint & elegant. Owner & staff, food, ambience - everything is TOPs. Fabulous French cuisine with innovative delicious dishes. Lots of variety. Even the bathrooms are quaint & super clean. We highly recommend this restaurant.
Excellent French cuisine, excellent atmosphere, excellent service
An excellent french-cuisine restaurant. We had an excellent celebratory meal.
All is there! We love to try French cuisine restaurants & my first choice is always at Le Surcouf. Quality price is hard to beat. Wine list is from a private reserve & prices are very reasonable. They have gluten free bread, flour etc no need to worry if you are celiac of simply intolerant to weat. reservations were easy would recommend to make them a few days before as the restaurant is always packed.
Classic French cuisine in a cozy atmosphere. Best restaurant in the West Island...hands down! Veal kidneys in a Dijon sauce are highly recommended, as is the beef tar-tar.
Hurry! IF you haven't returned in 20 years, please do it now! This mainstay of Ste Anne de Bellevue has been tastefully updated & their menu is fine French cuisine. The service matches the cuisine! Great weekly specials too! Impressive but not overwhelming wine list.
Surcouf is an excellent family run restaurant. Very good French fresh cuisine.service is very good & courteous. We visite for very long time. Regularly. We love it.
Still one of our favourite restaurants! Lately tried the soup & hors d'oeuvres du jour, the veal & bavette mains, & crepes Suzette for dessert - all excellent, as was the service. The regular menu is mainly traditional French, but the daily specials usually give you a chance to try something different.
Classic French cuisine in beautiful room, if one can get the room. Covid precautions, unfortunately marred this setting with plastic transparent curtains etc. The cuisine was well done & not too salted, when unfortunately over salting has become the fashion these days. Could use a dress code, however. Persons sporting a baseball cap, grungy tee-shirt & sweat pants detract from the overall impression of the restaurant.
Lovely evening on a busy night. Both service & food good to very good. Staff enthusiastic & try hard given the circumstances. Reminiscent of what a good little French restaurant used to be like. We felt very comfortable & satisfied & look forward to going back
Great little French resto in a charming old house with great service & good food at reasonable prices. 😀
One of the best restaurants in the West Island. The food is always spectacular, service is professional & courteous, & Dominique is so friendly & genuinely happy that you are there. A must go-to restaurant for those who love traditional French cuisine.
Great ambiance, great service, great food. If you love classic French cooking, this is definitely the place to go. Veal kidneys in Dijon sauce are amazing!
The kitchen produces very good classic French style food, with some local inspiration, at a fair price. The wine list is solid, with interesting choices at various price levels, with many private imports - not the "usual suspects". The service is attentive & professional. I have eaten at Le Surcouf many times over the past 20 years, & have never been disappointed.
