The bathroom surprised me, it's too clean
Went there for the first time to try Ethiopian food. The decor & ambiance are nice, with good music. The food was very good, & we got the tasting menu for two. The food is great for spicy & spice lovers, with many options & generous portions. However, the desserts were quite average & didn't really relate to the cuisine. Overall, the experience was nice. It's a good spot if you want to explore Ethiopian food.
Food was very tasty (Doro Watt-Berbere Chicken) & service was friendly. First time trying Ethiopian cuisine & did not regret our choice. Ambiance was a very nice addition to the experience. Will definitely recommend!
I was visiting a friend & was raving about ethiopian cuisine. Then we found this restaurant near us. Along with my friends son, we visited this place on a lazy Sunday afternoon. It was pretty empty, & the guy who showed us to a table was nice enough. He placed a few "white" napkins in front of us to wipe our hands with. Unfortunately, the main waitress serving us seemed to have other ideas. As soon as she saw it, she promptly & very rudely whisked the whole tray away while murmuring how we didn't actually "need" those. Next, when we ordered 2 separate meals & also separated Injera, she still piled our meal on one & brought a measly helping of the Injera for which we had paid 5 Canadian dollars. Upon my enquring if we could get some extra she point blank refused. My question is, if we ordered two meal platters, shouldn't we have been given two separate Injeras for that I had thought that in the service industry, guests are important. To our chagrin, we were made to feel like idiots. Maybe it's Montreal hospitality at work here since we definitely cannot speak French. How unfortunate. We carried a bad experience from this place. Food was average. I have had better Ethiopian.
Great ambience & absolutely tasty food! Went with a few friends last night & we all enjoyed our meal & the presentation. The only thing that was a bit of a let down was the quality of the service - the staff did not seem pleasant & seemed a bit cold when we asked questions about the menu. Compared to a lot of other restaurants, I felt the service quality was mediocre. But overall, a must try if you are interested to explore Ethiopian cuisine.
We have been enjoying Le Nil Bleu for many years. The food is so delicious & the restaurant is very thoughtfully managed. Having eaten at dozens of Ethiopian restaurants in North America, this is the best & well worth the trip!
Likely holds the crown for best Ethiopian restaurant in Montreal. Spectacularly decorated space with a well-formatted menu. Service was also superb. Food was utterly delicious. Flawlessly clean washrooms. Very well executed restaurant on all fronts.
Surprised to be able to reserve a table for two last nminute on a Saturday night, but really glad I did.lovely decor & vibe, with comfortable seating, & background music that allowed customers to carry out normal conversation. Although the place was packed, from the time we walked in to the time we left, service was friendly, attentive & very helpful with questions about a cuisine we were not familiar with. The star of the show was the food. Tasty, plentiful, with just the right amount of spice & aromatics. We chose the meat (they also had a vegetarian option) tasting menu, since it provided a nice intro to Ethiopian cuisine. It included a nice selection of starters to share & a platter of lamb, beef, chicken, lentils & vegetables all cooked in different sauces/styles, with plenty of injera to scoop everything up. Delicious!,
Really nice looking restaurant. Food was good but I would say it's Ethiopian food modified for the western taste. Dishes lacked the traditional berbere spice kick that is normal. Still it was good & the service was great.
We got the tasting menu. Food was good, it was my first time trying ethiopian food & being able to taste a bit of everything was nice.
Outstanding service & the food is amazing! We have never been disappointed with our experience at Le Nil Bleu. Brought my friend who had her first Ethiopian meal ever, & she was delighted!
I am an ethiopian & i was so happy with how authentic the tastes were especially the injera itself. I recommend to order the plate to share because you can taste a lot of ethiopian food on one plate. I loved the Alicha siga wat, the cabbage with carrots, the kitfo from the appetizers & the tibs. I loved the presentation & the quantity of food.
My family tries to eat Ethiopian food in every city that we visit, & I can honestly say that Le Nil Bleu was the best we've ever had. The flavors were incredible, & each one of the dishes in the vegetarian combination was exquisite. The atmosphere was wonderful, the staff was lovely, & we give it our very highest recommendation!
Friendly service, nice ambiance & delicious vegan options. I have been several times & usually get the vegan tasting menu, it has 5 different dishes & lots of Ethiopian bread.
I loooove this place, food is soooo good & tasty! I love this cozy vibe & atmosphere in Le Nil Blue. I had so many different exotic Ethiopian food like meat tasting menu, ebeg alicha, kitfo, eshiro watt, zizil Tibbs & other food that I don't remember the names, & everything was so tasty. I will definitely come back here with my boyfriend ♥️♥️ & btw, the service was sooooo gooooood😍😍 very nice people! THANK UUUUU
Genuinely amazing food & for a very reasonable price. My girlfriend & I thought it was a great introduction to Ethiopian food - highly recommended!
I came here on a double date & the atmosphere was lovely (great lighting, fun music, & I loved the zebra print chairs haha). The staff was some of the best I've ever seen: incredibly attentive & friendly. & don't let me forget the most important part! The food was absolutely delicious! So well spiced & super flavorful. I love Ethiopian food, I would absolutely come again. Highly recommend for any future date nights you may have planned, or friends! Great for groups because the food is easy to share.
Service was good (for instance offered wet towel to clean hands before the meal, & wi-fi credential, even without me asking for it). I ordered the vegan two courses tasting menu for one person, as I know nothing about Ethiopian food. The size of everything was indeed for tasting, however in light of the relatively high price ($35), I was expected more. Most of the items were not that spicy (good for me). There was only one really too spicy to my taste - not sure what it was (color was dark brown). It was interesting experience, but personally I'll likely keep it as one time experience. They are not take-away friendly (I tried). The place is not too large' the mirrors make it seem to look larger. It was busy, though. It worthwhile mentioning that the google entry is outdated: - there is no Israeli cuscus on the menu.
