Servers were friendly, but before we even finished, in the middle of our dinner the waiter came to ask how we wanted to split the bills as the server was changing. If they knew they were not going to end the service in time I feel like asking at the time of ordering would be less disruptive. Then the replacement server came but disappeared & we were just left waiting to order our desserts. Finally a 3rd person came & said he had an emergency & had to leave so she was taking over. The servers were very pleasant, but I find it was a bit disorganized, though understandably emergencies happen, so I still give service 4 stars. The atmosphere was beautiful but our table was too close to the group next to us & one person was loud & obnoxious which was annoying, especially so close to us. Overall I'd definitely go back!
Possibly the best restaurant in Montreal. I had the tasting menu with a few friends. Glowing reviews from everyone. Everything was delicious & gluten free too.
Was a great modern cosy, amazing statues around & the wait staff was great. Their tasting menu was a phenomenal experience
We were experiencing Ethiopian food for the first time. The 2 course tasting menu was recommended by our server & we loved it. Service was attentive, polite & professional. We would go again on our next visit to Montreal.
Atmosphere was cool, & the food presentation was very nice. Also great service. Overall good experience because of the vibe. But I ordered the tasting menu & unfortunately most of the food was either bland, overcooked, or kind of plain. & the desserts & the chocolate cakes weren't great.
We were visiting Montreal from Texas & ate at this restaurant on our last night in town. The food was fabulous. We had only eaten Ethiopian food once before & weren't sure we were fans. We are now! We had the meat & vegetable tasting menu & liked everything. The spices & the freshness were very appetizing. It was a large amount of food & we couldn't finish it all as much as we wanted to. The people that worked there were very friendly & accommodating. If we lived in town this would be one of our go to establishments. Highly recommend it.
Amazing food! As a vegan, i don't usually go to non-vegan restaurants in Montreal. But when i'm in the mood for ethiopian food, we're so lucky to have Nil Bleu. They have an amazing vegan menu. We always take the tasting manu with the 3 appetizers & several varieties as entrees. The injeras (Ethiopian pancakes) are wonderful & the selection of wine is fantastic!
I lived in Washington DC for years & I've traveled to Ethiopia, so I am not new to Ethiopian cuisine. The food at le Nil Bleu fantastic, some of the best I've ever had! We ordered the meat & vegetable tasting menu. The appetizers were contemporary & the main course more traditional. The food was tasty & plentiful; the staff was friendly. Go hungry, leave happy!
I was craving some good ethiopian food & today, my craving was satisfied & gone. The vibe & atmosphere in here is amazing, & i will be coming again! amazing music & tasting menu
Je recommande le'Tasting menu' c'est super bon! Très belle terrasse!
restaurant inside the Kutuma Hotel that serves up very tasty Ethiopian food. A very reasonably priced tasting menu that offers five or six appetizers & main courses include chicken, lamb & beef.
Lovely decor attentive & friendly service-we had the 2 person tasting menu veggie & meat- we were very satisfied & it was so tasty & attractive
Ethiopian restaurant with a great vegan options.
My partner had the tasting menu of $35 includes 4 Different types of Starters & 5 Main Course served on In-Jera
I opted for a Vegan Platter of $27 included 4 Main Course served on In- Jera .
Excellent service, amazing food. The tasting menu gives you a great diversity of textures, tastes & colors. Enjoyed sitting outside, inside atmosphere very good too.
Unbeatable experience for Ethiopian food. The atmosphere of the place & the presentation of flavours are all perfect.
Personally I think the tasting menu is the way to go, you get to experience a little bit of everything. We had it for 3 people & it was delicious. The cocktails were nice too.
I had one drink + the tasting menu, & paid $66 after tip. The price point is higher than other spots, but it really is a beautiful space, well made good & excellent service. Worth going!
We ordered the vegan tasting sampler for two. There were four smaller appetizers & five larger mains. We loved all of the appetizers but were not as keen on the mains. To be fair, I think the meat tasting menu would have been better & I was keen to try it, but my dining companion wanted the vegan so I agreed. I'm sure the food is worth five stars but I'm just not vegan.
One of the best meals I've ever had. If you're in Montreal & haven't been here, you are missing out. If you're thinking of coming to Montreal, this should be the reason why. Go for the tasting menu, because everything they have is 10/10. 5 star service. Our waiter set us up with a great pairings & took great care of us all evening
I love Ethiopian food for their vegan dishes! The vegan tasting menu consist of:
a platter with 4 small appetizers
Bouticha: chick pea mousse
Yetiamtim salad: tomato salad (tangy & refreshing)
House salad: caramelized veggies (warm & sweet)
Yeberdjane: marinated eggplants (cold)
& 5 flavours served over Injera
Yekik Alicha: turmeric split peas
Zucchini Sire: zucchini & beets
Yatakelt Watt: carrots, potatoes & cabbage
Yemesser Watt: berbere lentils (spicy)
Gommen: spinach, onion & garlic
The stewed vegetables seasoned with spices are all delicious. For those who want gluten-free, they have rice or quinoa for substitution.
Ethiopian Sun is a mix of mango, orange, pineapple & peach juice.
It's a generous size dish. They also have vegan dessert but I was full. :P
