She lives in Brooklyn & has easy access to all the cuisines of the world. Ethiopian food is one of her regular go-tos. As a vegetarian, it is perfect because it is filling, super nutritious & beautifully spiced. Even as a regular Ethiopian food-eater, she was blown away by everything about Nil Bleu! It was just down the main strip of Rue St Denis in the Plateau neighborhood where we are staying in Montreal. The staff was so kind & patient with us non-Francophones. When a couple left the primo window table before our food arrived, our server asked if we would like to move over there. We got the Mango mule cocktail & we both so surprised by the delightful flavor & freshness of the drink! The first course included so many interesting tastes & textures that we couldn't pick our favorite. The main course was equally varied & all so filling & delicious. We had a gorgeous vegan dinner-- it was perfect comfort food after a day of hiking Mount Royal in the snow, & it was perfectly healthy! I bet we had more vegetables in this meal than we had eaten in the week before! Every bite was more delicious than the last! The restaurant was gorgeous & the music was ethereal & soothing. What a special evening with kind folks, exquisite food, & beautiful ambiance. Thank you, Nil Bleu!
Excellent meal, service & atmosphere! We stayed in the hotel above the restaurant for 4 days in the winter. The staff was very friendly & professional, every interaction they'd ask for an opportunity for service. Whether it be making coffee or helping with our bags. Finest hotel experience I've had in at least a decade.
The restaurant was lovely. Our waiter was very knowledgeable & accommodating. We had never had Ethiopian food & he explained the history behind each meal a the traditional way of eating it. The food itself was flavorful & filling. Took a solid nap after eating there.
100% would stay here & eat here again. Thank you very much for such a phenomenal weekend, from bed to table.
First time eating Ethiopian food & it didn't disappoint. Between the wonderful staff & the phenomenal food I will be recommending anyone who is visiting Montreal to absolutely go.
10/10 One of the best restaurant in Montreal. Delicious ethiopian food & the vibe/decoration is amazing. I love it
This was my first time at an Ethiopian restaurant. The food was good, but service was slow even though the place was empty. We had to keep flagging the waiter, & other tables who came after us were served faster. Overall, not the best first impression I don't think I'd return based on service alone.
An authentic Ethiopian food the best place to spend with loved ones.
Tasty & yummy food, well established & managed restaurant. Well trained staff & management. Specially the owner makes you feel like home.
It's definitely worth giving it a chance.

This place is hands down the best hotel my husband & I have ever stayed at. The staff were all friendly helpful. They upgraded our room for free when there was a cancellation before we arrived. The Ethiopian food was amazing each bite was a flavor bomb of deliciousness. Room service was great. The jacuzzi is generously sized. Comfy beds & all of the entire stay was divine. Thank you so much! We will be back!
An incredible experience at Nil Bleu Ethiopian Restaurant!
It's been years since I've had Ethiopian food this good outside of home & Nil Bleu truly exceeded every expectation. The presentation was elegant, the flavors were absolutely authentic & delicious, & the ambiance was warm, beautiful, & spotless. Every detail, from the service to the aroma of the dishes, made the experience unforgettable. I left with a happy heart & a full stomach. I can't wait to go back & thank you Nil Bleu
Wow! If I ever come back to Montreal, I will not think twice about where to go. I will definitely return here. I love Ethiopian food & always search it out whenever I'm in a large city. Nil Bleu was another level above anythingI have ever eaten before.. The presentation & taste of everything was exquisite. I took my time, eating slowly & finishing every last morsel of everything from the appetizer & drink to the main course & the dessert. Though I overate, I am still in a great mood from the experience. Thank you for a memorable & delicious meal!
First time dining at an Ethiopian restaurant while visiting Montreal & wow, what an experience! The food, the service, & the interior decor all completely blew me away. Everything was spotless, & the flavors were out of this world!
My wife & I were staying at the hotel & we're lucky enough to eat dinner here one night; amazing! We have had Ethiopian food before, & this was by far the best experience. The food, the service, the drinks & the atmosphere were all fantastic & I highly recommend it to others. If you have never had Ethiopian food before, then you owe it to yourself to check this place out, you will not be disappointed!
We were experiencing Ethiopian food for the first time. The 2 course tasting menu was recommended by our server & we loved it. Service was attentive, polite & professional. We would go again on our next visit to Montreal.
First time having Ethiopian food & I was blown away. My wife & I ordered the Meat & Veggies plate to share & every single item was delicious. The standouts were the Doro Watt & the Bouticha. I would definitely eat here again.
We went to the restaurant while staying at the adjoining hotel. The food was delicious & the prices were reasonable. Not being as familiar with Ethiopian food they were more than willing to help with any suggestions on the menu.
We were visiting Montreal from Texas & ate at this restaurant on our last night in town. The food was fabulous. We had only eaten Ethiopian food once before & weren't sure we were fans. We are now! We had the meat & vegetable tasting menu & liked everything. The spices & the freshness were very appetizing. It was a large amount of food & we couldn't finish it all as much as we wanted to. The people that worked there were very friendly & accommodating. If we lived in town this would be one of our go to establishments. Highly recommend it.
It was a pleasant experience. The food was exquisite & worth the wait. The service was excellent, especially from our waitress. Would totally recommend to anyone who like exotic food. Edit: I came back here with my mom since I had such a great experience last time. Their ethiopian coffee cocktail was divine, I definitely recommend it. All around great place to eat exotic food.
It is Ethiopian restaurant with super delicious tasty food, amazing quality & great service. I visited the city after five years & I invited my family at this restaurant. I am proud of them.
