Fresh daily breads, bagels, & Croissants are always available. The showcases are always full of a variety of treats. I have enjoyed their pastry dough, pies & crepes as well. As a person with Celiac disease knowing I am 100% safe is so comforting. Flavors & quality are outstanding. I love Le Marquis.
It's delicious! Can't believe it's gluten free. Highly recommend the croissant breakfast sandwiches & crepes - made fresh! Oh, & please, try the raspberry turnovers. Best ever!
Le Marquis is a world class gluten free bakery. They have a wide range of pastries & baked treats & have some available frozen croissants, almond croissants, chocolatines, bread & more to take home & warm up when you can't make it to the store. Since my last visit they have added hot crepes made fresh on the spot. It would be great to be able to sit & enjoy with coffee but unfortunately they do not have seating for in store enjoyment - so as far as I know it is strictly a take out establishment. Some cafe options & a few tables would be a great addition!
Update:
I recently went to grab a cake from here, I believe I got the hazelnut chocolate cake. Everything looked nice from the outside but the cake was very dry on the inside. The flavor was there but the dryness was too evident.
Great vegan tartes; they have hazelnut, pear/pistachio, apple & I believe their last vegan option is raspberry. The cafe only has two seats to dine in & I only saw bubble tea drinks but they may have other beverages. All of their desserts are gluten free but don't worry, everything is delicious & fresh.
First time at Le Marquis for breakfast beign a GF & Lactose free client.
Always looking for my food restriction options restos in Montréal & finding this amazing place, where I can get everything my little heart desires.
Yummy, yummy fresh crêpes & an amazing variety of cakes .
Coffee should be included since we had to get it next door & come back to have a great breakfast.
Other than that hands up!!!! We'll be back!!!!!
I went to Mtl for a few days & stopped at this lovely boulangerie for some treats. I hadn't eaten croissants since I went gluten free ten years ago. I bought so many varieties & stuffed my purse, pockets, & carry-on to take back with me. Absolutely delicious!!! The frozen ones tasted just as fresh as though they were made that day. Aziz, was so helpful & kind. He was so sweet & made my experience even better. He informed me that I can order from their website even from another province. I'm fully pleased with the whole experience! Thank you :)
This place used to be amazing, but there's been a decline over the years & now they're mediocre at best. I'd say it's time to focus on either the bakeries or the frozen products sold by places like Lufa farms or Gutsies (Ottawa), because it seems to me like they can't handle both. Frozen items such as the puff pastry or par cooked croissants are still worth the cost, but the supposed "fresh" pastries are not. The products being sold in store are not fresh, the muffins my mother & I purchased today were so dry we assume they were at least 3 days old based on past experience with their muffins. Croissants purchased last week were over-baked, the Opera cake layers were very dry, & the Mille feuille was mediocre as it contains no custard & the cream used lacked flavour. The owner seems to comment on negative reviews & I don't want a reply with empty excuses that try to act like the massive decline in quality is my imagination, so I want to state that until end of 2021, excluding any pandemic related closures, I used to come here or have someone pick up for me at least once a week in the summer & about every 2-3 weeks in other seasons. I recall very few negative experiences, & even those would have been a one item issue not a whole order issue, it used to be so good that it was part of why I was so excited to return to Montreal but 3 visits/orders later & other than the frozen puff pastry I have nothing good to say.
Absolutely amazing gluten free crepes & pastries, fresh & tasty, in a certified GF facility. A must for anyone with gluten sensitivity - I wish we had more places like this in the US.
When it comes to gluten free pastries, I've not seen a single bakery that comes close to what you can get at Boulangerie Le Marquis. I live in Ottawa but always come here when I'm in Montreal. I've had a lot of the tarts, but the Pain Chocolate & Croissants (both gluten free) are certainly the best. The dough is actually laminated, the way you'd expect a croissant to be. So many gluten free bakeries have let me down on that front but this is not one of them! You can buy them fresh or frozen. They store well in the freezer for up to a few months & are easy to reheat. Pictures attached are the pain chocolats reheated in the oven with an egg wash.
