The staff were incredibly friendly, & it's easily one of the best gluten-free bakeries in Canada. As a celiac, you know a place is special when you feel the need to ask three times-mid-bite-'This is gluten-free, right?' & for a moment remember what it was like to eat a real french croissant. The other great thing is, the prices here you are not getting gauged for being a Celiac.
Those of us in the greater Montreal area are blessed to have these fantastic gluten free bakeries. Fresh daily breads, bagels, & Croissants are always available. The showcases are always full of a variety of treats. I have enjoyed their pastry dough, pies & crepes as well. As a person with Celiac disease knowing I am 100% safe is so comforting. Flavors & quality are outstanding. I love Le Marquis.
It's delicious! Can't believe it's gluten free. Highly recommend the croissant breakfast sandwiches & crepes - made fresh! Oh, & please, try the raspberry turnovers. Best ever!
Le Marquis is a world class gluten free bakery. They have a wide range of pastries & baked treats & have some available frozen croissants, almond croissants, chocolatines, bread & more to take home & warm up when you can't make it to the store. Since my last visit they have added hot crepes made fresh on the spot. It would be great to be able to sit & enjoy with coffee but unfortunately they do not have seating for in store enjoyment - so as far as I know it is strictly a take out establishment. Some cafe options & a few tables would be a great addition!
Super friendly staff! Was excited to find my first ever gluten free croissant. Great treat selection & was impressed by their made to order food as well. I wish we had a place like this in my home town! Gf Montreal staple.
A must visit in Montreal if you are gluten free. I havent had this good a croissant in a while
This is a must every time I come visit my brother. It's the only place outside of Italy I've had a decent gluten free croissant, I highly recommend !
Delicious!!! Croissant sandwiches are big & tasty! Service is nice :)
I eat gluten but my friend has Celiac's so we went here. Best pastry I've ever had in my life gluten aside. I got the chocolate almond croissant & an iced latte!
We are from Chicago & we do not have anything like this! We left with C$70 worth of pastries, including a bag of frozen chocolate croissants, a bag of frozen, regular croissants, two eclairs & two chocolate croissants. The eclairs were out of this world the chocolate croissants were amazing. If you're gluten-free run, don't walk to this bakery. It is pricey, but honestly, what gluten-free bakery is not pricey unfortunately.
I went to Mtl for a few days & stopped at this lovely boulangerie for some treats. I hadn't eaten croissants since I went gluten free ten years ago. I bought so many varieties & stuffed my purse, pockets, & carry-on to take back with me. Absolutely delicious!!! The frozen ones tasted just as fresh as though they were made that day. Aziz, was so helpful & kind. He was so sweet & made my experience even better. He informed me that I can order from their website even from another province. I'm fully pleased with the whole experience! Thank you :)
This place used to be amazing, but there's been a decline over the years & now they're mediocre at best. I'd say it's time to focus on either the bakeries or the frozen products sold by places like Lufa farms or Gutsies (Ottawa), because it seems to me like they can't handle both. Frozen items such as the puff pastry or par cooked croissants are still worth the cost, but the supposed "fresh" pastries are not. The products being sold in store are not fresh, the muffins my mother & I purchased today were so dry we assume they were at least 3 days old based on past experience with their muffins. Croissants purchased last week were over-baked, the Opera cake layers were very dry, & the Mille feuille was mediocre as it contains no custard & the cream used lacked flavour. The owner seems to comment on negative reviews & I don't want a reply with empty excuses that try to act like the massive decline in quality is my imagination, so I want to state that until end of 2021, excluding any pandemic related closures, I used to come here or have someone pick up for me at least once a week in the summer & about every 2-3 weeks in other seasons. I recall very few negative experiences, & even those would have been a one item issue not a whole order issue, it used to be so good that it was part of why I was so excited to return to Montreal but 3 visits/orders later & other than the frozen puff pastry I have nothing good to say.
It's a pretty simple & clean bakery store! They didn't have drinks in the menu but you get still a nice varieties of gluten free dessert, sandwiches & more! I tried their almond croissant there & the one I had was bit hard for me to bite on & it taste bit burn & dried I couldn't eat it at all after a few bites. For the price that I pay for, I was little sad & disappointed to received a dry croissant as my snack to eat before heading to work today. Aside from that, the service is friendly & didn't had lots of place to seat there or don't sell drink but I ask to the person who worked there if I could have a glass of water & they gave me some water & the ambiance is very cozy & quiet
Wider selection of gluten free backed goods than I've seen elsewhere. Delicious croissants & desserts hold up to comparison with their gluten counterparts. The maple éclair was amazing.
Excellents croissants nature & au chocolat, tartelettes aux abricots.
Best gluten-free pastries I've ever had! Actually, among the best pastries I've ever had even outside of being GF. I had the chocolate almond croissant a few months back & bought some frozen ones to bring home, too. I just reheated one after several months of being in the freezer & it was still amazing! Interior of the shop could be nicer but there is a lovely sitting area outside when the weather allows!
This location has the largest selection, go early for breakfast pastries or order in advance with 24 hour notice, note that some pastries are not available on Mondays. Loved the vanilla eclair & croissant although would have liked the croissant to be toasted. Helpful & sweet staff!
