The sambaara & dosa were good, idli could be a bit more fluffy & soft but still good. The disappointing menu was the North Indian curries & the manchurian, it was all too sweet & didn't have the right flavor profile. Stick with the dosa.
Fullfilled my cravings for South Indian food. Chukka was top notch , excellent service great ambience
How long did you wait for perfect Indian Cuisine? Here is the place to have a nice & good tasty Indian meals.
Ambience was pleasant, coming to food Boneless Chicken Briyani was so tasty which i expected from south indian ....
We were visiting Montreal out of town & craving some good ol' South Indian comfort food. So we ordered from Lakshana's Chettinad South Indian Restaurant, expecting a flavour-packed dinner. What we got instead felt like a prank.
Let's start with the'Naan' - or should I say, pita in disguise. Imagine our faces when we opened the box & saw what looked like store-bought pita bread pretending to be naan. Nice try, but no, naan & pita are distant cousins at best, not identical twins.
The Paneer curry came next, looking promising... until we tasted it. It was sweet & bland, like someone dropped sugar into tomato soup & added paneer as an afterthought. We weren't sure if we were eating dinner or dessert.
The Channa curry was the only dish that somewhat showed up for work, edible, mildly decent, but still missing that warm, spicy aroma you'd expect. It was like the chef forgot to invite the spices to the party.
We really wanted to enjoy this meal, but the food just didn't hit the mark. If you're serious about Indian food, you might want to look elsewhere - or at least keep your naan expectations low!
Great south indian food. The service was hospitable & polite. Very nice people, & good ambiance.
Lakshana's Chettinad is a true gem in the heart of Montreal. The flavors are bold, authentic, & deeply rooted which are rich, aromatic, & satisfying. The team works with care & consistency, & you can feel the passion in every plate served.
Whether you're familiar with Indian food or trying it for the first time, Lakshana's Chettinad offers a memorable dining experience that's both honest & full of heart. A must-visit for anyone who values authenticity & warmth.
You will not get authentic south Indian flavor.
But the food was fine.
Food was alright & so was service. Wouldn't say it was the best south indian food I have had. May try another place next time just to compare.
The food is bursting with rich, authentic flavors that transport you straight to South India. From the perfectly spiced Chettinad curries to the crispy dosas & fluffy idlis, every dish is made with care & packed with bold, traditional taste.
The service is warm & welcoming, & the staff are happy to explain dishes or help with recommendations if you're new to South Indian cuisine.
They also offer several Vegan options.
This place is really good! It is authentic Tamil South Indian food. The food is flavoured to perfection. Please try the special tiffin! You can't go wrong with this choice which will give you a sample of all the Tamil delicacies; there is a scrumptious masala dosa accompanied with coconut chutney & a spicy garlic chutney. You'll also get a medhu vada & a idli. You'll get ven pongal & a delicious pineapple rava kesari as well.
I had a fantastic experience at Lakshana's Chettinad South Indian Restaurant. The authentic South Indian flavors were spot on! The dosas were perfectly crispy, the sambar was flavorful, & the variety of chutneys was delightful. The ambiance was warm & inviting, making it a great place for both family outings & casual dining. The staff was attentive & ensured we had everything we needed. If you're a fan of South Indian cuisine or looking to try something new, this is a must-visit spot. Highly recommended! I lovedddddddd itttttt!!!
Going to a South Indian restaurant & getting shahi paneer was definitely an unorthodox move, but one that paid off in the end.
Nice taste of vegetable biryani & paneer Tikka masala. Authentic South Indian taste of masala vada.
Great southern Indian food! Very nice service & great tasting food!
I tasted with Extra ordinary South Indian taste of sambar vada & garlic spicy masala dosa with garlic podi in side
