Lakshana's Chettinad South Indian Restaurant on Saint Catherine has become our go-to spot - my spouse & I visit almost once every month. We always order the Podi Masala Dosa & Uttapam, & they never disappoint! The taste is consistently authentic, the portions are generous, & the flavors remind us of home-cooked South Indian food.

The dosas are perfectly crisp, the chutneys & sambar are flavorful, & the staff is always friendly & welcoming. It's rare to find such good quality & portion size in Montreal for South Indian cuisine. Definitely one of the best spots in the city for dosa lovers!

This place is really good! It is authentic Tamil South Indian food. The food is flavoured to perfection. Please try the special tiffin! You can't go wrong with this choice which will give you a sample of all the Tamil delicacies; there is a scrumptious masala dosa accompanied with coconut chutney & a spicy garlic chutney. You'll also get a medhu vada & a idli. You'll get ven pongal & a delicious pineapple rava kesari as well.

The dosa was fantastic! Perfectly crispy on the outside & soft inside, with flavorful fillings that tasted just right. The chutneys & sambar were fresh & complemented the dosa beautifully. A delicious, authentic treat!

We ordered Chicken Chettinad Masala Dosa, Mango Lassi & Chicken Kothu. The Dosa was good. The portion of the Dosa was perfect & the filling inside was different (variety of ingredients including onions, tomatoes & daals which were not crushed so we could really feel/ taste them👌) from the South Indian restaurants we have tried in Montreal. The only improvement would be for the dosa crepe. It was not crispy enough but this could have been because we ordered the food for delivery. The Chicken Kothu was fantastic!! 👌The portion was generous & large chicken pieces were added. The flavours were mouth watering!! One of the best Chicken Kothu we have had so far! The Sambar it came with was really good! 👌Not too spicy & enough veges in there. It came in a plastic container👎 The coconut chutney it came with was super watery & couldn't see, feel or taste any coconut shredding. Perhaps they use dried coconut. It was NOT AUTHENTIC although it tasted fine. It just wasn't THE coconut 🥥 chutney.👎 The other red ginger garlic chutney was too salty & I think they add a ton of red/ orange food colour to it? NAH! 👎 The mango lassi was NOT GOOD!!!! It was too runny & I could literally taste that after taste of sugar!! Not sure what kind of mangoes they put in there but super low quality & superficial sugary taste! If the mangoes are good, no sugar is required. Mango is already sweet. These came in plastic containers used for curries & not an actual🥤👎

Seemed like the only South Indian restaurant in the block. I ordered their mysore masala dosa. It was basically just chilli flakes, nothing mysore about it. The rest was good - coconut chutney, tomato chutney & sambhar. Nice people but slow service.

I bought some of your famous garlic chutney. I was disappointed of you re not being honest to your customers. I paid 6$ for quarterly filled of this chutney. I bought the same for 5$ & the container was better filled. This is not right to cheat with customers. Service was good . 😊

Amazing taste, generous portions, super friendly staff (I got offered a complimentary dessert without ever asking for it). Their red garlic chutney is out of this world! A must try!

I trusted the reviews & landed up at lakshana's for brunch today. I won't hesitate to mention my experience was awful. Mysore masala dosa tasted ok. Perhaps I had said the taste was good only if the oil was not dripping off the dosa. Idly was not at all soft & spongy. Rather it was completely cold & old. Medhu Wada was good. Coffee was very good! I really liked that part. Also, the garlic chutney was very tasty (though chargeable which wasn't mentioned by the girl (counter person/cashier) who took the order). The Main part which lead me down was the cashier girl. She was quite rude. First of all she charged the item in my bill which I had cancelled already. When I went to ask for refund, she refunded the money but wasn't humble enough to pardon & accept her mistake. Also, when other customers (who ain't from Indian origin) asked her about the dishes, she was rude to them too. Instead of helping them explain the dishes/cuisine, she left & let them to decide on their own (which to me was very rude). Hope Lakshana Chettinad will take this as a constructive feedback & work on customer experience elevation.
