Since 1999, the restaurant LA PRUNELLE is a bring your wine that imposes itself on the popular Duluth in the heart of Plateau Mont-Royal. The chef conveys her passion in each of her dishes, working with products of Quebec dotted with Mediterranean accents. Respecting both the producers of the province and seasonal changes, the menu leads us into an adventure filled with happy detours. One feels immediately at home in this lively and friendly restaurant, overseen by Annie the co-owner and her team. The place is a beautiful and charming space, with large windows that open completely in the summer. One thing is certain, LA PRUNELLE is a very good value for money and is surely one of the finest dining experiences on the Plateau Mont-Royal.
Most diners describe La Prunelle as a beloved BYOW French bistro with a warm, intimate atmosphere and attentive, friendly service. Reviews praise consistently high quality ingredients and dishes that blend classic French technique with creative touches, with standouts like magret de canard, ris de veau, tartares and octopus. La Prunelle earns praise for its charming neighborhood vibe, open windows in summer and a cozy dining room in cooler months, making it suitable for date nights and small gatherings. While the food is lauded, some comments note portions can be modest and prices feel high, though the BYOW policy and strong execution often justify the value. Service is frequently described as professional and thoughtful, though busy nights can lead to longer waits and a louder dining room. Desserts and presentations are repeatedly praised, with several reviews praising a memorable creme brulee or squash cake. Overall, La Prunelle appears as a dependable favorite in the Plateau, delivering a consistent BYOW dining experience with delicious food, warm service, and a lively but comfortable atmosphere.
Nous avons été enchanté de notre soirée. La nourriture était excellente, le service très bien, l'ambiance agréable. La musique n'était pas trop forte .
One of the best restaurant experiences I've had. Every dish was amazing, the service was amazing & don't even start me about the price... Amazing! It definitely deserves a Michelin sta

Every time we are in Montreal we come to this place. Everything about it is wonderful, the ambiance, the food, the service. The lighting was magical, all of the courses were delicious, & the service was attentive without being too much. We will come back for sure!
Un moment magique! L'accueil était très chaleureux, le service impeccable, la nourriture excellente & l'ambiance très sympathique ! Je recommanderais cet endroit sans aucune hésitation!
Absolutely amazing experience.
We celebrated my wife's 40th birthday with a group of 10, & everything ran flawlessly. The restaurant is small & cozy, with a warm, intimate atmosphere-not loud, not overwhelming. Service was impeccable. Erica, our waitress, was professional, attentive, & genuinely on point.
The food-classic French cuisine-was delicious & refined. Overall, it was a magical evening, & my love's birthday was a real success. She was happy, & so was I.
Constructive notes (because perfection is suspicious):
The octopus 😭 - unfortunately rubbery. We were told this was an exception & that it's usually excellent. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
The chairs could be more comfortable, especially for a place where guests tend to stay & enjoy the whole evening.
Highly recommended.
& one last thing: for this level of food & service, the bill was surprisingly reasonable-a very welcome bonus in these times.
This tried & true BYOW spot was a great choice on a chilly Friday night. We had tasty oysters , a slightly too salty steak frites followed by a Quebec cheese plate & a rather good squash pie. Service was also a highlight & there were just enough people for there to be a vibe.
