This is one of my favorite spot in Montreal. Their breads are great. Their pastries are perfect especially their pistachio roll.
Totally recommend this place:)
Ma place préférée dans le vieux Montréal! Tout ce qu'ils font est délicieux, & le staff est le best! Merci :)
Belle petite découverte! J'aime les idées originales proposés! Cependant, un peu dispendieux pour la quantité reçu.
Food was exceptional especially the pistachio filled croissant, the staff even asked me if I wanted to record while he melts the marshmallow. Made my experience even better!
Friendly staff & great food, love their pastries & bread! Only downside is it's quite small, so there is limited room. Plan accordingly if it's the busy season in Montreal.
Great spot! I have tried a few flavours of the croissant pistachio 10/10, lemon meringue 1000/10,maple 10/10 etc but lately i feel they're afraid of using the power of the sugar, im not saying be over sweet but this weekend i tried their cinnamon roll…. Visually i saw the cinnamon but zero taste, cream cheese frosting was meh 2/10 i was expecting more, & creme brulee was literally tasteless idk very inconsistent
Tucked into the cobblestoned charm of Old Montreal, La Cave à Manger Boulangerie feels like the kind of place you wander into on a whim & leave remembering for all the right reasons. I stopped in near closing time on a small but meaningful mission: to find a birthday treat for a friend, ideally something kissed with pistachio. By then, their pistachio pastries had already sold out, hardly a surprise, but my momentary disappointment didn't go unnoticed.
The gentleman behind the counter met it with an easy warmth that defines great neighborhood bakeries. Along with the chocolatine & almond croissant I chose, both impeccably flaky, buttery, & deeply satisfying, he tucked in a cookie on the house. It was a small gesture, but one that spoke volumes about the care & attentiveness here. Service like that turns a good bakery into a beloved one.
Most importantly, the pastries landed exactly as hoped. My friend was very happy. In the end, La Cave à Manger delivered more than dessert. It delivered generosity, quality, & a reminder that hospitality can be just as memorable as what's in the pastry case.
Loved this place! Such a cozy bakery with a warm, welcoming vibe & kind staff. The pastries were absolutely delicious. I'm a big fan of pain au chocolat (or chocolatine, as we say in Québec 😄), & this one truly lived up to the hype, one of those pastries you see in TikTok videos & immediately want to try. It tasted heavenly: flaky, buttery, & perfectly balanced.
The space itself is small & intimate, with just a few chairs, but there are standing counters as well, which makes it comfortable for a quick stop. Overall, a lovely spot for high quality pastries & a cozy moment, I'll definitely be back!
The pistachio croissant & salmon sandwich were delicious. I want to return & try everything else. The coffee was normal, not extraordinary (cappuccino).
Really good coffee. The service is very pleasant. María is super friendly & attentive, & she took the time to calmly listen when I told her about my lactose intolerance.
Unfortunately not impressed by the food as their matcha latte is just undrinkable. Too bitter & no taste of coconut milk. The service is very friendly & forward: very happy with how they handled our complaint. The pastries were ok-ish. We had the pistachio pastry: the dough is too dry to our taste as well as the dough of the eclair. The atmosphere in the shop is cosy & cute, but small. For 4 items we paid 50$.
Hot chocolate with toasted marshmallow was tasty, but quite pricey (around $9+ for an average cup size). Limited seating & noticed other items were also pricey.
