It's a very hidden gem, you actually have to walk down the stairs to find the bakery.
The Pistachio Cream-Filled Croissant was just okay. While the pastry itself was fine, the filling was a bit too sweet & I really wished the actual pistachio flavor could have been a lot stronger.
The service here is efficient & friendly even when the shop gets busy during the morning rush. I appreciate that the staff takes the time to explain the different flour blends they use for their various loaves. Everything looks incredibly fresh & well made. I tried the sourdough & it had the perfect amount of tanginess that paired beautifully with some butter at home. It is refreshing to find a spot in the city center that prioritizes traditional baking techniques over mass production methods.
I stumbled upon this bakery while walking through the old port & I am so glad I did. The aroma of fresh bread hit me from half a block away & drew me right in. I picked up a baguette & a croissant for breakfast & both were outstanding. The crust on the bread was perfectly crisp while the inside remained soft & airy. You can tell they use high quality ingredients here. It is definitely a place I will be returning to whenever I am back in the neighborhood for a morning stroll.
Honestly one of the best bakeries I have visited in Montreal. It is a bit small inside so it can feel crowded, but the quality of the pastries makes it worth the short wait in line. I grabbed a few different items to share with my coworkers & everyone was raving about the texture of the pastries. It is rare to find a place that hits the mark on both sweet & savory options so consistently. I will definitely be making this a regular stop for my weekend bread supply from now on.
If you are looking for an authentic French bakery experience in the heart of the old district this is the place to go. I was impressed by the wide selection of goods available in such a cozy space. The staff was very helpful with my questions about the different wheat varieties & provided great recommendations for what to pair with my cheese platter. Prices are quite reasonable given the premium quality of the products. This is a gem of a shop that really adds to the charm of the area.
After being disappointed for 3 days on Montreal looking for good croissants, we finally found them. Even better were the housemade vanilla-bean ice cream in a hollowed out croissant & the orange slushie thing which they make from fresh orange zest. Staff was also incredibly friendly. This place is a true gem.
