Afficher toutcroissant(196) roll(72) pastries(64) pistachio(57) chocolate(40) recommend(36) sweet(31) fresh(30) coffee(29) bakery(24) chocolat(24) cafe(23)We stayed across the street at Maison Bohemia who highly recommended La Cave a Manger. Over the course of the week we enjoyed: bagels, croissants, baguette, pain au chocolate & other assorted pastries. All were excellent. Nice cozy atmosphere with old Montreal charm. A definite must try bakery.
We just visited Montreal for the first time & I will forever be thinking about this place. The pistachio roll? Incredible. We have visited France before & tbh, these incredible pastries surpass France 🫣 I will forever be thinking of this amazing spot & so grateful to have visited, I even snagged some goodies to bring home to Philly. Don't miss out on this gem when visiting Montreal!
The best bakery in the old city, it's a bit expensive but worth it. Try the eclairs & the round cream filled pastries. Honestly everything is good. The place is a bit small but honestly I don't care it is so good
This is one of my favorite spot in Montreal. Their breads are great. Their pastries are perfect especially their pistachio roll.
Totally recommend this place:)
Friendly staff & great food, love their pastries & bread! Only downside is it's quite small, so there is limited room. Plan accordingly if it's the busy season in Montreal.
Tucked into the cobblestoned charm of Old Montreal, La Cave à Manger Boulangerie feels like the kind of place you wander into on a whim & leave remembering for all the right reasons. I stopped in near closing time on a small but meaningful mission: to find a birthday treat for a friend, ideally something kissed with pistachio. By then, their pistachio pastries had already sold out, hardly a surprise, but my momentary disappointment didn't go unnoticed.
The gentleman behind the counter met it with an easy warmth that defines great neighborhood bakeries. Along with the chocolatine & almond croissant I chose, both impeccably flaky, buttery, & deeply satisfying, he tucked in a cookie on the house. It was a small gesture, but one that spoke volumes about the care & attentiveness here. Service like that turns a good bakery into a beloved one.
Most importantly, the pastries landed exactly as hoped. My friend was very happy. In the end, La Cave à Manger delivered more than dessert. It delivered generosity, quality, & a reminder that hospitality can be just as memorable as what's in the pastry case.
Loved this place! Such a cozy bakery with a warm, welcoming vibe & kind staff. The pastries were absolutely delicious. I'm a big fan of pain au chocolat (or chocolatine, as we say in Québec 😄), & this one truly lived up to the hype, one of those pastries you see in TikTok videos & immediately want to try. It tasted heavenly: flaky, buttery, & perfectly balanced.
The space itself is small & intimate, with just a few chairs, but there are standing counters as well, which makes it comfortable for a quick stop. Overall, a lovely spot for high quality pastries & a cozy moment, I'll definitely be back!
Unfortunately not impressed by the food as their matcha latte is just undrinkable. Too bitter & no taste of coconut milk. The service is very friendly & forward: very happy with how they handled our complaint. The pastries were ok-ish. We had the pistachio pastry: the dough is too dry to our taste as well as the dough of the eclair. The atmosphere in the shop is cosy & cute, but small. For 4 items we paid 50$.
One of the best in Montreal. Love their pastries. A small cozy place in the heart of old port. A must visit place
I may not be French but food is universal. Out of the 5 countries I've traveled to, & the 5/6 bakery/cafes in Montreal I went to, these are some of the best pastries I've ever had. Everything from the lamination to the bake to the ratio of flavors was exceptional.
I will say so the seating is outside so plan accordingly with the weather.
Normally I take photos for my reviews but I was too busy enjoying the food! 10/10 will be coming back here again.
The food & pastries are delicious but the prices are ridiculous & unjustified. It's just not worth it.
Nice place to stop in for some morning pastries & breakfast .
La Cave a Manger is located next to the Bonsecours market in an underground basement like area . Once you go down the steps you are met with a warm environment & a case with classic pastries including bagels , croissants sweet & savory .
Coffee barista was very friendly as she prepared a cappuccino for me . I decided to get an almond croissant which was delicious .
Nice flaky on the outside & moist filling inside . Ate it with great happiness. Coffee is well prepared & not too heavy . I also purchased a cheese & ham savory croissant for a later snack (not pictured) . Combination of the cheese melted & creating a crust with the pastry is awesome .
Great bakery & will definitely stop in again .
Awesome pastries & good coffee! A bit tricky to enjoy pastries outside because of sparrows attacks 🙂
Simply the greatest pastries I've ever had. Ended up visiting multiple times during our stay in Montreal. Hope to return soon in the future! Very friendly staff also. Highly recommend to anyone & should be a must visit spot. Please try the pistachio!!
Lovely little spot & tasty drinks & pastries.
They have a nice outdoor area
If you know, you know-& if you don't, you're about to. La Cave à Manger is one of those rare spots that feels like it's been kept secret on purpose. Tucked into the cobblestone charm of Vieux-Montréal, this pastry-meets-wine haven delivers on every front without ever trying too hard.
The pastries? Flaky, buttery, & borderline addictive. Their pistachio roll is a quiet masterpiece, & the croissants are textbook perfect. But it's not just about the sweets-grab a jambon beurre or a slice of their pepperoni pizza & you'll understand why locals whisper about this place like it's sacred.
& then there's the wine. A curated selection of natural bottles that pair beautifully with whatever you're nibbling on. Whether you're popping in for a quick bite or lingering on the terrace with a glass in hand, it never disappoints.
It's effortlessly cool, quietly confident, & always delicious. Hidden gem status: fully earned.
