tldr :'it's bad & the owner's should be ashamed'
La Belle & la Boeuf used to be a good burger joint, but it's definitely not the case anymore,
They have now 16 locations across Quebec & the quality went really down. They now serve bad quality frozen beef patties, french fries that taste like cardboard & frozen (or reheated) bacon so dry you can have difficulties chewing.
I ordered the smash burger & it was everything except a smash, completely dry meat. Just some regular frozen patties stack on top of each others, plastic like bacon that taste like nothing but hey there is a secret sauce to make everything go down (mayo, mustard & diced pickles & onion) yihaaaa.
I also tasted the capitain flam, a classic that I used to order all the time when I was eating there more often a few years ago. It's now really bad, the sauce the caramelized ognions & the bread were ok but that beef patty was somehow even worse (probably because it was thicker but so dry. You could really see how bad the quality of the meat is), as for the bacon it was the same cardboard as before.
So in conclusion, it's a cool looking restaurant with good atmosphere & an ok service but that serves the worst hamburgers possible. Even the worst Macdonald I tried was better than this.
I absolutely do not recommend.
Had a surprisingly extra delicious burger on Wednesday night, ordered the classic (smash burger) with bacon added & when it arrived, it was a true smash burger with the nice crispy edges of burger sticking out. It was soooo good. Side onion rings were done just right too. We also ordered some nachos with smoked meat on top & they were very good, especially with the Bloody Caesar that was part of the Happy Hour special. I had the original Caesar & it was very good with just the right amount of kick to it. The decor is nice in there with so many eclectic touches throughout. They had the playoff game on several big screens around & although it seemed like our fellow diners weren't necessarily watching the game, the minute the Habs scored the restaurant erupted into cheers! Nice ambiance to watch the game after all!
It's been a while & it's better than I had remembered. Smash burger was good & switched the fries for onion rings. Will come back again with the family....the kids like CE the Mac & cheese!
We walked in on a Thursday at 12:45 & were shocked at how many available seats there were. What's going on? Does this place do more business on the weekend? It doesn't matter. The burger will be good either way. Right? Let's order....we both ordered the St. Tite smash burger. After cutting the burger in half because of its size, that first bite was heaven. So was the second. The beef was so tasty on its own. There is no need for condiments. But the burger, cheese, pickles, & BBQ sauce did add a special punch. Now the fries...fresh cut, perfectly cooked. Crispy on the outside & tender on the inside. The coleslaw was ok but not great. I found it too creamy & needed some spices: just pepper would have been good. But you're going for the burgers, not the slaw.
