The food was absolutely amazing, every dish was fresh, beautifully presented, & full of flavor. You can really tell the quality is top-notch. The staff was warm, friendly, & attentive without being overbearing. Everything from start to finish was on point. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an exceptional sushi experience in Montreal!
Although a bit expensive, the portions & the quality of the food makes up for the price. Their omakase comes with 3 appetisers, 15 pieces of sushi & a dessert for around 120$. The pieces of sushi were quite big & the cut of fishes were quite generous. I especially liked their Funny Maki because there was a great contrast in the temperature which made it so unique & delicious. I was surprised because I usually don't like fried sushi that much. As for the appetisers, I feel like the first two dishes were a bit too sour which overwhelmed the flavours of the ingredients but their octopus appetiser had a great balance of sweetness & saltiness which made it so wonderful. The quality of the ingredients is amazing, each slices were really fresh & I especially enioyed the fresh scallop sushi which had a great seafood sweetness to it. The service was superb. The waiters & waitresses were all extremely patient & professional, taking the time to explain each dish while they were serving it to the table. Even though the place was quite fancy with the minimalistic interior decors, I feel like the semi casual atmosphere fits the place extremely well & it was pretty easy to talk at our table until later at night when the restaurant was more crowded, I felt like we had to shout a bit to be heard.
Went to Jun I with high expectations. Overall, it was a good experience, though not outstanding considering the premium pricing.
The sushi quality is excellent, with fresh, tasty, & fatty cuts of fish-definitely among the better sushi spots in Montreal. My personal highlight was the curry sushi, which stood out as particularly delicious.
However, service was friendly but slow & somewhat disorganized. Our group of six ended up staying for almost three hours, partly due to long wait times between courses. Some dishes arrived unevenly, leaving some of us without food for extended periods.
Desserts were enjoyable, but nothing exceptional.
One notable issue was the soy sauce, which our entire group found overly salty & concentrated. It detracted somewhat from the sushi's delicate flavors.
Despite these points, Jun I is still a solid choice for a high-end sushi dinner with friends, just adjust your expectations accordingly.
I personally found the Kani Age Épicé a little too salty & didn't need the extra sauce. The uni (sea urchin) was a little too overpowered by the rice but it was still fresh overall. The dancing unagi roll was superb as well.
However, the following two were the stars of this night for me. We ordered hamachi sashimi. This was as good as it can get for the city amongst all the other sushi options we have. 😊 Sitting along side the Hamachi was the Maguro Taru-Taru which we ordered as an appetizer. We collectively agreed that it was our favourite dish of the night!
We had a wonderful time, the food was fresh & tasty while the service was extremely quick. The servers were very nice as well. Highly recommend.
The fish is fresh & good quality, but it's really about their unique rolls. They also do traditional roll combos as hand rolls.
The staff at this restaurant are incredibly kind & attentive, making you feel welcomed from the moment you walk in. The sushi here is consistently outstanding - fresh, flavorful, & beautifully presented. Hands down one of the best sushi spots in Montreal. Highly recommend for anyone seeking top-notch sushi & a memorable dining experience!
One of the best sushi places in Montreal hands down. Great quality of fish , excellent service & such affordable prices. I don't recommend the omakase but all their sushi is amazing. The freshness is unbeatable.
I had a very good evening at Jun I. The food is really good & fresh. I had the omakase experience which is nice. The service is really good & the decor is neat.
We had a delicious & fun mean at Jun I. We loved the service, & the fish was very fresh. It was billed as the best omakase in Montreal &, while great, it is not. The hot & cold dishes were ok, but stand out. The sushi & sashimi were great but the maki roll we got was ok. Recommend trying it & loving it when you have the right expectations.
Amazing place. Exceptionnal sushi. Tuna tartare out of this world. Drinks original & fresh. I LOVE IT
Top sushi for quality & freshness. Definitely get a variety sashimi. The miso soup has such deep & delicious flavours. They also offer a wide variety of rolls. The one thing I wish this restaurant had was sushi made at & served at the bar, like true omakase style.
Excellent sushi place. They have a small, but meaningful menu. The restaurant is very lively & inviting. We had dinner on a Wed, starting at open, & by 7 pm, all the tables were full. Three primary things on the menu: - "omakase" (in quotes because it is table-side, not traditional, bar-side, one-bite at a time). Includes 4 hot dishes, & 15 nigiri, maki, sashimi, - only the 15 raw-fish option, - a-la-carte. We opted for the 15 raw-fish option "omakase" with a couple of add-ons. The candied salmon trout was amazing. Sushi were fresh & tasty, albeit no premium pieces (CAD 75 for 15 pieces is quite generous, & hard to get premium pieces), Service was fantastic. Recommend.
by far the best, freshest fish in montreal! Nothing beats it!!
Eating here is an experience over time, exploring your taste buds with a huge variety of sushi & other dishes with super fresh ingredients both local & from Japan. Each had a beautiful delicate balance of flavour, & the presentation was spectacular. The pace of dishes was perfect, leaving you with time to savour everything. Incredible sake choices that balance out the meal as well.Every dish was raved about at our table of 4. Service was top notch; you can see the staff are very well trained & attentive. Chef Juni is very personable & so creative.
Excellent as always. The freshness & quality of the food is amazing
